Kick back “island-style” in a luxurious setting!!! Leave the crowds behind on Seven Mile Beach. The Retreat is located at Rum Point, in the heart of the Cayman Kai area, on the north side of the island. There are only 23 units on our seven acres of beachfront property with 1,300 feet of white sandy beach. An easy 35 minutes by car from the airport, George Town, great shopping, and many delectable restaurants. This is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Caribbean in all its natural beauty.
This is truly the most beautiful beach on Grand Cayman! The sand is a gorgeous white with a hint of pink. The water is turquoise blue and absolutely crystal clear. The water is very shallow hundreds of feet offshore, perfect for the kids. The beach has lots of vegetation, shade trees, and wildlife, making it a nature lover’s paradise. The waters are part of a nationally protected marine park. So, you will find lots of fish and coral right out your back door. After a long day of exploring or relaxing on the beach, be sure to look to the west. There you will see one of the most stunning sunsets you will ever lay eyes on.
Right next door to the Retreat is the Rum Point Club, which has a nice gift shop, the very popular Wreck Bar and Grill, a great fine dining restaurant, and a Red Sail Sports rental and activity center. The food at Rum Point is outstanding, the drinks may be even better, and the friendly service can’t be beat. At Red Sail Sports, you can plan snorkeling, diving and Stingray City excursions. If you want to play on the beach, you can rent all kinds of beach toys including snorkeling gear, wave runners, sailboats, kayaks, and more!
Our condominium is a large one bedroom, one bathroom unit, with more than 1,000 square feet of living space. We have a great view of the beach from the living room and the screened lanai. The unit is on the third floor, which almost always provides for a nice breeze if you want to open up the screened windows and let the ocean air flow through. Our unit is ideally situated for a couple or young family. The large bedroom features a king sized bed. The living room has a queen-size pullout couch. An additional pullout bed is available upon request. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and disposal. Our unit also has a washer and dryer, so feel free to pack light.
To keep you entertained in the evenings, we have cable television, a DVD player with a selection of movies, a stereo with a variety of CD’s, video games, board games, puzzles, and cards. A small library of novels is available for your enjoyment. Email your family and friends from your laptop. We have high-speed wireless internet and a color printer for your use free of charge. Local telephone calls are also free of charge. International calls can be made using your calling card or any major credit card.
If you are trying to find the perfect vacation spot at Rum Point, please take the following points into consideration. Our condominium is on the ocean side right on Rum Point, not on the lagoon where the Kaibo and other accommodations in the so called "Rum Point area" are located. On the ocean side the sand is white and soft, not hard packed like on the lagoon beaches; and the water is turquoise blue and full of coral and fish, not green with a grassy bottom like the lagoon water. From our condominium, you will walk out your door onto one of the Caribbean's most amazing beaches. If you stay on the Lagoon, you will find yourself driving to our beach. You may be able to find a place at the Kaibo that is a little bit cheaper. But, you will find our condominium to be the best value on the treasured ocean side at Rum Point.
The Retreat and our unit have been inspected and approved by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism. So, rest assured that our amenities are up to the finest of standards. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about our condominium or the island. So, please don't hesitate to ask. We hope to have the opportunity to share our pristine home away from home with you…

Beachfront - #16 Retreat at Rum Point - Georgeous Sandy Beach!
Year Purchased: 2007
Why the Owner Chose Rum Point
My husband and I have talked about buying a property in the Caribbean since our honeymoon. Everytime we would go on vacation to an island, that conversation would come back up. But, we never pulled the trigger. Back in July of 2007, my in-laws watched the kids for a week while my husband and I went on our first vacation by ourselves since the kids were born. We went to Grand Cayman and stayed on 7 Mile Beach. The beaches were stunning and the island was absolutely paradise. Beatiful views...warm water...laid-back island atmosphere. Around the middle of the week, we decided to rent a car and drive over to Rum Point, which we had read about online. Now, I grew up in the Caribbean and we have traveled pretty extensively to various island destinations. I have seen my share of stunningly beautiful beaches. But, let me tell you...when we got out of the car and walked around the corner of the gift shop and saw the beach at Rum Point, we were absolutely awestruck by the beauty. We had a drink at the Wreck Bar and decided to walk out to the water. The water was perfectly calm and clear as a looking glass. We were able to walk out a couple hundred feet from the shore and the water was only waist high! We began to talk about how this would be such a perfect place to come with the kids. Shallow, calm water. Nice quiet, family atmosphere. Just about then we noticed a couple of really nice looking buildings right next door on the same beach. We wandered next door, found out there was a one bedroom condo for sale, and the rest is history.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
Our condo's location offers a great blend of quiet tranquility and action. The complex itself is small, 23 units on 1,300 linear feet of beachfront. Our beach and waters are part of a government protected marine park with lots of colorful coral and abundant sea life. Right next door is the Red Sail beach complex. While far from a wild and crazy place, the Red Sail facilities offer plenty of activity. They have a great bar and grill (excellent drinks and friendly service), a fabulous formal restaurant and a beach rental and excursion center. Right there you can rent jet skis, sail boats, kayaks, snorkling gear and more, plus book your Sting Ray City and scuba diving excursions. Most of the excursions leave right from the dock on the property. It is also a great place for the kids to find some playmates to explore the beach with! There are lots of other great restaurants nearby if you want to branch out a little. You are also about a 15 minute drive from the stunningly beautiful the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park and the Mastic Trail nature hike.
The Red Sail Sports facilities include the Wreck Bar and Grill, the Rum Point Restaurant, the Sand Dollar Gift Shop, and Red Sail Sports beach rentals and excursions.
Good seafood on a sandy beach over looking North Sound. Tuesday night beachside barbeque with live music.
Local grocery store good for picking up any essentials you forgot to pick up at Hurley's or Fosters.
Great seafood. A North Side favorite because of its excellent cuisine and affordable prices. On the water with a great view.
Great trails showing off lots of indigenous tree, plants, flowers and animals, including the rare blue iguana.
Local supermarket good for picking up essentials that your forgot to pick up at Foster's or Hurleys on you way over from Georgetown. Has a little wider selection than Chisholm's.
Local favorites and seafood with an an Australian flare. A new introduction to East End where Portofino used to be located. An excellent view overlooking the water.
Excellent seafood and wines. Many tourists from 7 Mile Beach will make the drive out to this one. It has a great view overlooking the water.
Great place to stop on the way from the airport. Everything you will find in any grocery store in the U.S. or Canada. Liquor store right next door with good selection of beer, wines and liquor.
A convenient stop on the way out of the airport. Everything you will find in any grocery store in the U.S. or Canada. Liquor store right next door with good selection of beer, wines and liquor.
Multiple rental car companies are conveniently located at the airport.
Great place to stop on the way from the airport or about a 30 minute drive from our condo for grocery shopping during your stay. Everything you will find in any grocery store in the U.S. or Canada.
Owner's Map of Rum Point
My husband and I have been married for 15 years. We have 2 boys, ages 8 and 12. We live in Houston, Texas. We enjoy getting away to our condo at Rum Point as frequently as we can. Our kids enjoy telling their friends that in Grand Cayman their back yard is a beach and their front yard is a pool and tennis court! We enjoy having friends and family visit so that we can show off our home away from home. We would love to share our island home with you while we are back in Houston, putting in time in the "real world."

This was our 6th visit to Grand Cayman but our first stay at Rum Point. We always enjoyed Seven Mile Beach & have seen most of the island but, being older, we wanted a relaxing, peaceful vacation. This resort is exactly what we were looking for. It had everything we needed, except groceries, & had a beautiful view from the lanai. We loved our walks on the beach & snorkeled every day right in front of our condo. We swam w/3 huge turtles, saw beautiful fish & an octopus. The restaurants next door were excellent & the staff very effiicient & friendly. (FYI-tips are incl. in the bill) The staff at the retreat are wonderful & we missed meeting Adela but she was very prompt in responding to any questions we had & was very bubbly & personable. It is recommended to rent a car since it's a little drive from the airport & you do need groceries, etc & may want to check out the island. We will def. stay here again when we vacation in Grand Cayman!! Thanks Adela & the staff at The Retreat Terry & Jody-Stacy, MN
Owner response:Thank you Jody. Your review makes my day! I am so happy that you made many wonderful memories during your visit to The Retreat! Adela

We stayed in Adela's condo from 30 January - 05 February. When we left Boston, the snowbanks were up to the roofs of the cars. First off, Adela is just about the most gracious person you could imagine. The property was exactly as presented on VRBO, and she was always helpful with emails before and during our stay. The place was immaculate and equipped with everything you'll need for a week, save for groceries. The unit is on the third floor, affording sweeping views of the sea and nice breezes all day. It never rained; one day it was a little cloudy. The location itself is ideal for either doing nothing, or engaging in snorkeling, scuba, parasailing, blah, blah. Next door to the condo complex is the Rum Point enclave, a modest assemblage of a supply/souvenir shop, a casual lunchtime restaurant with outdoor seating, and Red Sail Sports, a top-notch diving and scuba business with multiple locations on the island. You can book a trip and walk out to the end of the RP pier, where one of their huge catamarans will pick you up and take you to Stingray City or to some coral reef to go diving and then dump you off a few hours later. There's also the Restaurant at Rum Point, a snooty evenings-only al fresco dining place. Didn't eat there. There is also a small clowder of semi-tame cats who roll around in the sand and bask in the sun. You can either keep yourself occupied doing all these things, or you can just sit around and do nothing. This is what we did. We went to Grand Cayman in 2010 and stayed at the Marriott and went to the many attractions the island has to offer. That was fun, and the Marriott is a swell property. But this year we wanted to just sit there and read and eat and not be in Arctic surroundings, cold all the time. This property is perfect for that. Days and nights are tranquil as could be... you can go hours without seeing or hearing anybody, unless you go next door to the RP enclave, where there are daytrippers eating or relaxing on the beach. This is kind of a remote location, so if you book here you better have a car. I never saw a taxi - although there probably are some, and you could call one I suppose - but having a car here is FUN, driving on the other side of the road and zipping around and exploring the many deserted beaches just a few miles down the road. There's also an unbuilt condo complex down the street - Ivory Sands or something - with beautiful beaches the public is invited to explore. Thanks Adela!

If you want to de-stress then you have to come to Rum Point. This was my first time in Grand Cayman, and all I can say is location, location, location! What an awesome location! I found the condo and complex to be clean, and well kept. I felt very safe. The condo had a real view of the ocean (not all do). It was great to get up in the morning and enjoy the view and sounds of the ocean. Naps on the beach are a must! Next door are two resturants, an awesome and fun bar (ask for a Cayman Colada!), and souvenior shop. And boy is it quite! I slept like a baby! The condo also had a full stocked kitchen and full size washer and dryer; I really appreciated having both, Thanks! So if you are thinking about visiting Grand Cayman, come stay here, It is well worth it!

We stayed here April 24 - May 1, 2010. We had such a great vacation! It is quiet, but it was exactly what we wanted. We simply relaxed, snorkled and spent quality time together. What a beautiful place! The restaurants are all good; healthy food (or otherwise depending on what you are looking for), everything you need really is at Rum Point. This was our second visit to Cayman, we will be back to Rum Point for sure. The condo also had everything we needed. We made a couple of trips to Foster's for groceries, and they had everythng we needed which really surprised me! I mean organic greek yogurt, really? The bed is comfortasble, there are plenty of towels and amenities, even good books to read. Incredibly beautiful beaches and view from the lanai, fun things to do, cool wildlife to see. We had an absolutey perfect vacation,

Thank you for the opportunity to stay in your beautiful condo! The condo was very well stocked. It had everything we needed and then some! We enjoyed our morning coffee each morning on the huge balcony overlooking the beautiful Caribbean Sea! We loved the beach at Rum Point. After exploring other beaches on the island, this beach was our favourite! This was our first visit to Grand Cayman and it will not be our last. We checked around at other locations on the Island and it didn't take us long to realize that we picked the perfect location to have our vacation. We cannot wait to return to Rum Point and stay at your condo again!

It was simply lovely. Quiet, peaceful at night. Gorgeous view from the lanai every morning. Instant beach access, lovely pool to cool off, and every convenience. Rum Point Beach Club was fun but shuts up tight well before sunset. As long as you stock up at the grocery store in town, you will be set for a fabulous vacation. We would go back in a heart beat!

Just returned from a wonderful 9 days at The Retreat, Unit 16. The unit is beautifully appointed and immaculate. The beach is beautiful and unspoiled. Enjoyed long beach walks, snorkeling and swimming every day. It's fun having the Wreck right next door. We stopped at Hurley's on our way in and got food for stay. We didn't rent a car this trip as we simply wanted to relax on the beach. To truly enjoy the island, we will rent a car our next visit. Very rarely do we repeat a vacation location, but the Retreat (#16) will be an exception. We simply had a superb time. Swimming with the sting rays was magical and an event that we will repeat every time we come back! Thank you for sharing your home with us.
