Our 900 square foot Log Cabin is located in Forbes Park in the Sangre De Christo Mountains in the south of Colorado. It is located near Fort Garland between Walsenburg and Alamosa about 90 miles north of Taos, New Mexico.
Forbes Park is a private, gated neighborhood on 14,000 acres. There is no hunting allowed in the park, but there is hunting allowed in the neighboring National Forest. Enjoy beautiful views of 11,000 to 14,000 foot mountains nearby.
The cabin has two queen beds in the upstairs loft and a queen-size sleeper sofa in the living room. The spacious kitchen has a gas stove/oven, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee machine and a toaster. The huge deck offers stunning views of gorgeous meadows and mountains and to enjoy watching Elk and Deer grazing in front of you.
Enjoy this winter wonderland of undisturbed white beauty by the warm woodstove.
The park has lots of wildlife like deer, elk, turkey, bears, coyote, beaver and all kinds of smaller animals. There is nearby fishing and hunting. The Sand Dunes National Park with artesian hot spring pools, Lathrop State Park, the Cumbres and Toltec scenic railroad and the picturesque towns of Fort Garland, LaVeta and Cuchara are all within a 30-45 min. drive.
This is a great log cabin for a long weekend or a week or more. Please see our rates below.

Very nice place to stay. Would recommend it to anybody looking for a quiet place to get away from it all. The 120 Elk we counted down by the lake were a highlight of our stay. Be sure to look at the stars at night. You might see a shooting star. Listen for the call of an Elk in the distance. Deer are seen daily. Must take the short drive to Cuchara and eat at The Dog Bar Saloon. Good food and friendly people. We will be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+.

A great place to get away from the daily grind. A beautiful scenic setting, comfortable and relaxing environment. We spent a long weekend with snow during the fall colors. The cabin is located in a remote gated property providing a sense of security, yet privacy. It is clean, comfortable, and all needs were anticipated and addressed. Would certainly recommend this property to friend or relative. Look forward to a return visit as soon as possible.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.

We are repeat renters and find this cabin and its owners absolutely delightful. Never a chance of cabin fever. It's cozy, clean, well-equipped and well-maintained. The setting is breath-taking. We would come back in a heartbeat, and as often as we could. It's a bargain for a fantastic breath of fresh air. The photos can't do justice for this special place!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

We've just spent a lovely long weekend at this nicely appointed cabin. The setting is simply breathtaking and very pristine. The friendly owners have really made an effort to ensure that we had everything we needed and more. Anneke was a delight and went above and beyond many times to make certain our stay was relaxing. She helped our family (unfamiliar with Forbes Park) find the cabin and made sure we had her phone number in case we had questions or issues. This is a jewel and we couldn't have been more pleased. We will be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, adventure seekers, pet owners, romantic getaway.
