The home is a visual paradise complete with all amenities to pamaper a couple. We enjoyed cooking together, lounging in front of the linear fireplace, reading and watching a great movie. Suffice to say the home was a great oasis to complement all there is to see and do in San Miguel. The owner is organized and gracious and he is always available for questions or suggestions. We are making this home a destination for future visits to this charming city.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We are two adults who have traveled and rented houses throughout Mexico and Europe. We found the house delightful and full of light. The kitchen had excellent appliances, was well stocked with dishes, glassware, and cooking utensils and there was a washer/dryer available. The house was about a 20 minute walk from downtown, but we had a car and parking was available at the house. We were easily able to find parking in San Miguel when we did drive downtown. The house is well situated for easily traveling outside San Miguel. Bob, the owner, was always available to help and answer questions. We loved San Miguel! We highly recommend the house.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This beautiful and elegant contemporary home is perfect for a single or couple. It has all the ammenities of a gourmet kitchen, sunken tub, tv and stereo. The location is about 20-25 minutes walking from the center of town (the Jardin), but San Miguel is a walking town and I enjoyed walking the neighborhoods. The owner was most knowledgeable in helping me navigate restaurants and sites. Of course taking a taxi is so inexpensive and reliable, I enjoyed that option as well. I love the architecture and culture of San Miguel and plan on returning soon.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This is the perfect place to relax and soak up all the atmosphere of colonial Mexico! The center of town is an easy walk and offers something new on every trip. Wonderful shops with upscale merchandise...shoes, pottery, chocolates, delicious coffees, and baked goods. Great crusty loaves of bread!! There are restaurants at every turn offering a wide variety of cuisine. We will long remember the flowers and colors of the city and the wonderful sound of Mariachi music on the center square at night. The atmosphere in San Miguel is slow paced, warm, and friendly. Loved the local markets selling a wide variety of goods and flowers and seeing the occasional burro delivering goods. How charming! We visited during The Day of the Dead celebrations in October, which made our stay even more memorable! The weather was warm, sunny, and dry during the days with delightfully cool evenings. We found our accommodations to be top-notch, beautiful, and spotlessly clean! What a joy to view the gorgeous sunsets from the front deck and to see a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains. We look forward to our return visit with pleasure, as there are so many more things to see and do in San Miguel. We found this rental provided us with the perfect location for our daily walks about town. So convenient to all the local flavor! We recommend it highly!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, girls getaway, sightseeing.

This property was just as beautiful as the pictures. It is a very light and airy house, lots of windows. House is very well thought out. Every detail was taken into consideration, like plenty of closet and storage space. Great view, especially from the roof deck. Bob was the best. He is so helpful and informative, and happy to help with any questions. Probably about a realistic 25 min. walk into Centro, and a inexpensive cab ride home if you want to take it easy on the way back. Bus stops right on the corner, and is easy to take. We had a wonderful time for the whole month.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: Sharon and Hugh were such a fun couple to have as guests. They loved the architecture of my house and appreciated all the thought that went into it. With their sense of exploration and adventure and as world travelers they loved all the sights and sounds of San Miguel and this friendly Mexican neighborhood.

This was our second visit to San Miguel and we found Bob's home extremely comfortable, well appointed with ample towels, sheets etc. and the kitchen is well equipped with everything one would need to cook (or not). The home is clean and as advertised and pictured in the photos. The location is in a wonderful and friendly Mexican neighborhood with close proximity to the Mega (grocery store), Scotiabank, bakeries, La Luna specialty cheese shop, the Saturday Organic Market, the Instituto and a number of restaurants...the Centro (El Jardin) is a nice leisurely walk...realistically about 1/2 hour...so this is a great location for those who like to walk. There is a bus stop directly at the corner (even though we preferred to walk) and taxis are also very plentiful and reasonably priced and we used those on the occasional evening. Bob is a very welcoming, helpful and responsive owner. We would not hesitate to recommend this home for one person or a couple, and we were absolutely delighted to have stayed here.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Mountain views from the living room and balcony will have you relaxed upon entering the front door. Every detail of this house was thought through with exquisite taste. Bob the home owner was amazing and made sure my stay was comfortable and was ready to provide local knowledge of the best places to eat and visit during my stay. I'm so thankful that my first stay in San Miguel was here and am so grateful for Bob's wonderful hospitality. Between the amazing weather, the welcoming people and the amazing house, it will be a trip I always look back at fondly.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2007
About the owner: I retired from a career as a dentist and a business managment consultant in 2007. After running 38 Marathons I decided it was time to take it easy in Mexico
Why the Owner Chose Colonia Allende:
I have known about San Miguel de Allende since 1975 and always wanted a custom built contemporary home. I found I could afford both in Mexico.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
I enjoy living in a beautiful home and experiencing the wonderful warm culture of Mexico and my Mexican neighbors. It is like living in a small town with all the cultural amenities of a much larger city. Great restaurants, shopping, opera, art galleries, and an organic Frarmer's Market.
