We restored our 1885 Victorian Cottage in historic downtown St Marys several years ago..... Whew...it brings lots of company so we added an adorable garage apartment... though we have rented it short term to seasonal guests, it really would be perfect for a longer stay.
It is SMALL and upstairs over our garage, but perfect, ideal for a single person or couple.... our neighbors are wonderful, proximity to the water, to downtown, to our local restaurants, to the Cumberland Island ferry... all just a block away! We love our home and strive to make our guests feel as welcome as they want to be... we hope you will visit and enjoy our grand town and Southern hospitality!

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
After living in Hilton Head Island, SC for so many years, we were both ready for a change....and that we have!!! A slow pace, churches that we can walk to on Sunday, a vibrant, constantly changing community, lots of friends and extremely fun people, lots of history, lots of yardwork, lots of parties, and wonderful waters close by for that shrimping, fishing, and crabbing that these old gals like to do!...our proximity to the bigger cities is wonderful for good food, lively entertainment, or escaping to skies and beyond...though we love to travel, it just feels right to come back home...we love St Marys...

We moved to St Marys Ga after thirty-one years for Anne in Hilton Head, and twenty-nine years for Julie in Hilton Head....the husbands became ex's, the children grew up and we two old geezers decided it would be fun to find a water community and redo an old house!!! Upon first sight, ours was in GREAT DISREPAIR...and frankly I thought Julie and our realtor had lost their minds... I know the house was built in 1885 but it was deplorable...bad, bad shape, had an odor about it...but they just looked at me and smiled and collectively said..." it's got such good bones"....so bones convinced me to ante up my portion of money and what a great time we had knocking it down and putting it back together again!!! can't wait for you to come visit and get our tour!!!!...anne is on the left and Julie is on the right and the other two claim us a friends...we were over on Cumberland for the day, having a tour of Greyfield Inn....

We stayed the month of February at Anne and Julie's place. It was very comfortable and the best part of our stay was the hosts Anne and Julie. There is a lot to see in St Marys and we enjoyed riding bikes around town. We also enjoyed the golf cart. You couldn't ask for nicer people and they made us feel like family. Mike & Vicky

Anne & Julie surpassed our expectations. Grace was a bonus. Cute apartment, clean, tastefully decorated. Comfy, comfy bed. Very fair with the pet fee. Our Pepper loved her stay. Certainly would recommend this place. Cumberland Island is a must see. Doc's for breakfast.

My stay for the month of January, 2011 was everything a winter break should be! The apartment is absolutely lovely, surrounded by live oak trees dripping with Spanish moss. While small, it is beautifully appointed and the bed will make you think you're in a 5-star hotel. The best part of the stay was getting to know Anne and Julie, the proprietors / new friends You can't help but be charmed by their open door policy to friends, both old and new. Gracie and Stripes (dog & cat) round out the ambiance. Can't wait to go back next year!
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My husband and I enjoyed our stay immensely. The accomdations were great both inside and out. We really enjoyed the location so we could walk to shops and restaurants or take the golf cart when we wanted a little zip! It was a great base to see the area. We've never stayed in a place before that we could honestly say everyone one we met was a pleasure. The two of you made our stay complete and we can't wait to come back.

We wanted a quiet and relaxing vacation on the coast and we were very pleased with our stay. St. Marys is a pleasant little town, our accomodations were sweet and you couldn't have asked for better hosts. Anne and Julie's warm welcome made us feel like we weren't strangers. And we're sure hoping to come on back y'all!

We stayed 5 wonderful weeks, over Christmas, in this hospitable southern town. The apartment was just as advertised. The decor reflected the sumptious good taste of the owners, Anne and Juli. Everything was within easy walking distance except groceries...a short car drive away.Cumberland Island is a must-see and the submarine museum is worthwhile too. The very best of this stay was the warmth of the owners and their community of friends. We loved them and every minute in St. Marys.

I recently stayed at the Garage Apartment for a month and had a wonderful time. Not only is the apartment beautifully decorated, spacious and fully equipped but Anne & Julie are the most gracious hosts. I was introduced to so many people and it is absolutely true about southern hospitality - it's alive and well in St Marys. I became part of the community which made my stay all the more enjoyable. If you do visit the lovely St Marys, tell them "Hilary from New Zealand" says hey.

We sold our home in St Marys and bought a place in Athens, Georgia ( go Bulldogs )...but due to unforseen events, we chose to stay in St Marys for another year...we rented the adorable upstairs garage apartment and have been like honeymooners! We love it...the charm, the simplicity, the closeness to everything we like to do...it has been perfect for us, and Anne and Julie have treated us like family...we surely are going to miss our home away from home and you will be lucky to stay in such an adorable place!
