The apartment is exactly as advertised. It is only a short walk to the subway, and it was very easy to get to all the sights in Manhattan. The neighbourhood is nice and there are lots of restaurants and shops close by. It was nice to come "home" to the apartment after a long day of sightseeing. Much more comfortable than a hotel room, especially for a longer stay. We were there for 2 weeks, and really appreciated having a full kitchen - we could relax over breakfast and coffee in the morning before heading out, and we made dinner a few times instead of going to a restaurant. The unit was very clean, and the owners are perfect hosts. They answered any questions we had, and otherwise left us alone to enjoy our vacation. If you are thinking of renting the unit, be aware that that there are a lot of stairs - it is on the third floor. The bed is also low to the ground - if you have mobility issues this may not be the ideal apartment for you. Otherwise, I recommend this place highly. We enjoyed it very much.

It's hard to even write how wonderful this place is, because doing so will most likely increase the demand! My wife and I stayed here over Halloween weekend of 2010. The owner, Bill, and his family were awesome and live downstairs. We were given options of happenings in Manhattan & Brooklyn for Halloween night, and two complementary city passes for our stay (great deal if you're checking out some of NYC's culture). The place itself is immaculate; a super-clean modern space without feeling cold. The location is perfect as well. Carroll Gardens, often referred to as "the best nabe in Brooklyn," is perfect if you're looking for that quitessential Brooklyn experience. You'll definately fee like a local here. Of the numerous places I've stayed in NYC, this is by far the best and the first one I'll look for each time I visit. Bill: Thanks again for a wonderful stay & sorry for the delay.

The apartment was light, airy, clean, comfortably furnished and equipped beyond expectation. It is in a quiet side street, but the main road is full of restaurants, cafes and little shops that we in England have long lost. It is between two subway stations and there is a little park nearby. The owners were more than helpful; a list of nearby amenities were sent to us even before arrival. We would most certainly recommend it to friends and relatives. Our only problem was the stairs, but then we are in our seventies!

My Wife and I stayed here for our anniversary/birthday vacation. We wanted to home base in Brooklyn and subway all the other places we wanted to go. This worked perfect. Bill and Anshu are great hosts. Taking the time to give us the lowdown on the neighborhood, where to get the metro, and the good restaurants. When we come back to Brooklyn, we will stay here!

An excellent appartment (clean, tidy, well equipped) and a nice neighbourhood. Book the appartment without a second thought. You'll love it. Nelson st. is very quiet, you don't think you are in a big city at all. The appartment is perhaps 2 mins walk from some decent restaurants and delis on Court St. Court st and Smith St (past President) house literally hundreds of trendy bars, restaurants, and cafes. There are even some less trendy ones that don't mind 30-somethings and even 40-somethings coming in too! Honestly, we loved the place. We could have stayed for a year, Bill and his wife were always available and approachable and we had no problems at all.

We travelled on the QM2 from Southampton in July to visit our son who lives in Red Hook. The apartment was perfect for our stay of 5 nights. Bill was so friendly and helpful, especially when I needed unexpected medical treatment. We found the description of the apartment to be 100%. Immaculately clean, bright and airy. Well maintained, wireless broadband worked a treat. We could have cooked anything in the well equiped kitchen but were a bit lazy and decided to eat out. Plenty of lovely eating places just a short walk away. The airconditioning was so necessary as the temperature was in the high 90's. Bill encouraged us to use the aircon - it must have cost him! We were sad not to meet Anshu who was away with the children. Felt safe walking in the area - although did not use the subway late at night. Will certainly return if my son stays in Brooklyn. Thank you again Bill and sorry for the delay in writing this but had problems with the website.

Bill and Anshu are wonderful hosts, and they keep the rental immaculate! The modern interior is very relaxing and the neighborhood is very quiet. Plus there's Buttermilk Channel, Frankie's, and Prime Meats right outside your door. And to think, we were going to stay in Park Slope.

Christmas in Brooklyn was a special experience. The Nelson St. apartment was in a great location and felt like a home away from home. We were able to park our car on the street or walk a block to the subway to get into the city. Great care taken to make the apartment home base with a well equipped kitchen and a book full of suggestions about the neighborhood. Highly recommended!

We were fortunate to book this apartment for 5 nights over New Year's, and we couldn't have been happier! The apartment was spacious, quiet, and very comfortable, and the location can't be beat. Great neighborhood and convenient to the subway, we had no trouble getting to and from Manhattan at all hours. The owners are so very friendly too! Highly recommend it - we'd stay here again in a heartbeat!

My husband and I stayed in Brooklyn for the first time and had such a good experience. The apartment is very clean with updated fixtures. The decor is simple and modern. There are huge windows that let in wonderful light in the kitchen and bedrooms. The bathroom is very spacious and spotless. We utilized the subway to get back and forth from Manhattan, which was just a couple of blocks from the apartment. There are tons of cute shops and restaurants just steps away (note: Many of them only take cash). Anchu and Bill were lovely to work with in the pre planning phase and when we arrived were very friendly and helpful. We look forward to our next stay!

We had the opportunity to stay in this apartment in early December and are delighted with our choice. We typically stay in Manhattan, but were looking to cut our expenses a bit on this trip and now can't imagine staying at a hotel again! Great location, easy access to two subway stops, even had to park a car one night and found a spot less than 2 blocks away. Had two great meals on Court Street, within 2 blocks, and would definitely stay at this apartment next time we come to NYC. Fabulous trip all around, made more so by the great accomodations!

We spent a lot of time and effort researching places to stay for our first visit to New Yoark. We finally settled on Brooklyn, Carroll Gardens, the Nelson Street appartment and it proved an excellent choice. Bill and Anshu were excellent hosts, ever present downstairs but never intrusive, always ready to answer questions, to provide advice and information and to help. The apartment was well furnished and equipped,, comfortable and quiet. The immediate neighbourhood has excellent delis ( our favourite was Caputo's with mozzarella to die for ) , restaurants ( we strongly recommend Frankie's ) and quirky shops ( Ruby, who makes her own designer clothes ). We spent the days in Manhattan walking ( don't miss the Highline ) and visiting galleries ( don't miss the Design Museum ), returning "home" in the evenings to Nelson Street. We hope to return one day for a longer stay and would want to stay at Bill and Anshu's apartment. We have no hesitation in recommending it to our friends.

Bill and Anshu's apartment was comfortable, spotless and well appointed. It has plenty of natural light and a lovely kitchen and bathroom. During our 17 night stay there was plenty of clean linen and towels. It is in a lovely area of Brooklyn, situated between the two eat-streets of Smith and Court Streets. We highly recommend Zaytoons, Frankies, Enoteca on Court and Monteleone's Bakery & Cafe (for espresso and Italian cakes). It is close to two subway stations, and only a short ride to Manhatten. Subway trains come at least every 5 minutes and we found them to be a safe and quick way to commute, even late at night. There is a TKTS Discount Booth in nearby Jay Street which was a convenient way to buy discount tickets for the theatre without queuing for hours at Times Square. There are plenty of good laundromats, delis, bottle shops, supermarkets and other shops within walking distance of the apartment. Bill and Anshu were very friendly and accommodating with lots of tips for day trips and restaurants. We highly recommend the apartment and hope to return. Thank you Bill and Anshu for making our stay in New York so memorable.

This 1BR apt is an absolute gem -- light-filled, spacious, spotlessly clean, and stylish. It's been said before, but that's because it's so true -- it's like a home away from home, which is priceless in NYC. Would absolutely stay again. Can't recommend it highly enough!

What a joy to deal with friendly people who love what they do! Bill and Anshu were extremely helpful and make you feel "at home". Eat at Frankie's on Court Street (two blocks from apartment), it holds up to most Manhattan mid priced eateries. A great neighborhood to explore. We hope to return.

We would recommend Bill’s apartment for any length of stay. It had a fresh appearance and feel because it was so very clean, bright and sunny. Clean linens and cleaning service was available when needed during our monthly stay. The furnishings were simple and yet everything we needed to be comfortable was provided. The location is excellent, close to great restaurants and stores (groceries, laundry, convenience stores, etc.) but most important it is just a few blocks to the subway. Safety for our well-being was never in question regardless of the time of day that we were coming or going. It was so pleasant to come home to the quiet neighborhood after a busy day of sight seeing in the hustle-bustle of Manhattan. When we visit New York again, which we hope is soon, we will definitely want to stay in this same apartment!

We stayed in this lovely apartment for 5 nights in November 2008. It was fun to discover Brooklyn, (a lot like NYC without the tourists) but it was still easy to get into Manhattan on the subway. Great local restaurants and food shops on Court St. Our only suggestion is to add a second reading lamp in the bedroom. We both like to read in bed.

This is one of the best ways to visit a large city and still keep to a budget. The "light-filled apartment" is exactly that, bright, very clean and comfortable. Carroll Gardens is a wonderful area to explore. There's plenty of restaurants, small grocery and bake shops, book stores and so much more. The apartment has a full kitchen which allowed us to eat in each morning. Location is close to the subway station, but don't leave without a walk through the neighborhoods. Court and Smith streets will keep you busy for a couple of days. Bill and Anshu are terrific hosts and very helpful from the first contact on the phone to any assistance you may need while you are there. We were completely satisfied with our stay.

The apartment was lovely--sunny, roomy, tastefully decorated, and a relaxing alternative to a hotel. The location made it easy to explore little shops, stroll through residential areas, and experience very reasonably priced ethnic restaurants. We also felt very comfortable taking the subway--even at night. Manhattan was only a few stops away.
