The chalet is ideally situated in the pre-Alps above the charming village of Charmey. Picturesque Charmey is located 45 minutes from Lac Leman, home of the famous Montreux Jazz Festival, and 1-1/2 hours from Geneva. The wide range of activities for families and lovers of sport and culture make this traditional mountain village a popular holiday destination in summer and winter.
There are plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in Charmey. Walk ten minutes to the village through sweet smelling pastures to the cable car that will take you up the mountain for breath taking, panoramic views. Enjoy a leisurely 2 hour hike down the mountain or parasail down after refreshing yourself at the mountaintop restaurant. Rock climb, mountain bike or relax in the thermal baths at the new spa in Charmey. Charmey has an amazing number of restaurants and cafés for its intimate size. There is a complete supermarket, weekly farmers market and a "laiterie" which gets its milk daily from the cows that grace the mountain tops. From the chalet, walk 10-minutes to the village for the best freshly baked croissants, breads and pastries, home made yogurts, butter, the famous Gruyere cheese and amazingly delicious Creme de la Gruyere, found only in this region of La Suisse!
Our chalet is the perfect launching point to explore Charmey and all that Switzerland has to offer. The apartment is located on the ground floor of a three-story chalet. The interior is newly remodeled and tastefully decorated with everything you’d need to enjoy your stay. There are incredible views from every room, and you’ll wake up to the sound of tinkling cow bells and fresh mountain air. And after a day of adventure and exploration, you’ll enjoy coming “home,” where you can relax on the large grassy lawn, play a friendly game of ping pong or bocce ball, or sit on the terrace to watch the sunset with the grand peaks of mountains rising up all around you.

Authentic Swiss experience not to be missed

We had the pleasure of staying in this chalet apartment over Easter break. It was well appointed with basically everything that you might need. The family who owns it did a great job of giving us an overview of the area, entry procedures to get into the apartment etc...We did have a problem with the oven when we were there and the caretaker Heidi had it taken care of efficiently with no inconvenience to us. I would recommend it highly for anyone traveling Switzerland with a rental car. We were using public transportation which was challenging at times but ultimately very rewarding. It is a 10 minute downhill walk into town and more like a 15 -20 minute walk uphill at the end of the day (especially carrying groceries !) All of that walking is what makes it such an authentic fun experience. There is plenty to do in the local area including some lovely local walks right in Charmey. The tourist office was incredibly helpful with any questions we presented. I was traveling with two teenage girls and they were enthralled with the area and our different activities. The local laiterie which we passed and stopped at every day was delicious with its fresh made daily yogurts, butter, cheeses, milk etc. The chalet was comfortable and very clean. The back patio area was a lovely way to unwind at the end of the day. If you are even looking for just a great spot to relax and not do much this apartment chalet fits the bill. The hot water for the shower ran out quickly which is explained in a note in the bathroom. It is truly not a big deal you just have to stagger shower times. When we were there the upstairs tenant was not around at all. I don't know if that would make a difference but the chalet was very quiet and we were able to get a good nights sleep easily. I really do not think the photos of the apartment do the whole experience justice because it is difficult to capture the overall lovely vibe of the town of Charmey, the pre-Alps and the lush beauty of the area. In fact I would highly recommend the Gorges of Jogne which is a quick drive from Charmey, shaded and an easy hike with amazing rock tunnels. We did not get to take the gondola to the top of the mountain in Charmey since it was closed off season but it passes right by the chalet and looks lovely. I recommend this good value chalet apartment without hesitation and wish that you have as lovely a time there as we did.

Brian and I had a wonderful time and your chalet! It was exactly what we were looking for. We even caught a bit of the festival celebrating the end of the Gruyere season (and the cheese was spectacular.) Thank you very much for renting us your home.

We had a great time and really enjoyed the village of Charmey. Beautiful country and great people. Spent each day going in a different direction getting lost and seeing whatever we could find. Thank you for the opportunity of being able to do that.

The chalet was everyone’s favorite stay on our three week trip. As I write this, I am enjoying a piece of the great Gruyere from the small farm down the road from the chalet.
