We were originally going to Washington DC but our kids wanted to go to the "wilderness". This was perfect. The view was beautiful and it really did feel like being a tree house. We left the video games, TV, and computer at home and instead enjoyed all the cottage had to offer from building wooden teepees outside with the kids to Scrabble, Pictionary, Split, and our daily building of Lincoln Log houses. We read to each other around the woodstove in the evenings. The kitchen was perfect and we never needed to leave. Our kids who are 8 and 10 said it was the best vacation. The wine and homemade bread left for us was delicious. Everything was clean and cozy and the Artist's paintings on the walls were beautiful. Before we arrived we went to Harper's Ferry which we all loved and was a very short drive. A place right out of history. We loved our entire vacation to Moonridge!!

This cabin has many amenities so you can pack light. One thing I wish we did was bring groceries, because it's quite a hike to the Food Lion once you're up the mountain. Bobby does supply a Food Lion member card, which is great. The view and sunset are fantastic. There's lots of privacy. It's very close to Harper's Ferry, which was our destination, and Charles Town if you're into casinos. We spent most of our trip hiking with our dogs, playing monopoly, drinking wine and walking around the peaceful neighborhood (the mountain)! Sitting on the porch was the highlight for us. It's large and screened in. Plenty of room for the dogs and us to eat or just chill out. Bobby was flexible, reasonable and prompt in hosting us. Her cabin is clean, inviting and comfortable. I would definitely recommend this place to friends.

We had the privilege of staying in both of Bobbi's cabins, The Inn and Long Last and Moonridge Cottage. First of all, she is both wonderful and helpful. Any minor problems are addressed quickly. Both cabins are delightful and comfortable. We particularly liked the kitchen at The Inn, since we cooked pretty elaborate dinners and the kitchen was so well appointed. The beds were really comfortable in both cabins and we slept really well. We enjoyed the screened in porch at Moonridge. If you have children, do rent The Inn. A treasure hunt for kids. The location made is easy to access the Appalachian trail and we hiked every day--spectacular. Thank you Bobbi!!

The house and property are beautiful. The inside of the house is decorated very cozy and we were greated by classical music, twinkling lights and very good whole wheatbread with wine.It was nice also to be able to take the family dog! My only negative comment was that the property was steep and the entrance was a little difficult for my 84 year-old aunt to navigate with a cane and hip replacement. However dont let that stop you from enjoying this wonderful place- I would definitely stay there again!

We had a great week staying at Moonridge. This is a nice little cabin which is well furnished. This is a great spot to use as a hub for the surrounding activities. We stayed super-busy throughout the week as we traveled to D.C. via the MARC train from Harpers Ferry {HF is about 20 minutes from Moonridge), hiked the long side of Maryland Heights, hiked an 11 mile stretch of the AT from Gathland to Harpers Ferry, canoed, kayaked and swam in the Shenandoah River, and various other adventures during our length of stay. I and my 2 sons especially enjoyed the sreened porch. We slept nightly on the porch (such great weather for that) and the other family members slept in the house. We also enjoyed the library, what a collection! Bobby was very helpful and a joy to do business with. Thank you Sam and Bobby for the good experience! Our family was well pleased.

Please don't stay at this cabin - I want to keep it all to myself! Moonridge was everything I imagined, plus more - for my autumn retreat in the woods. The cabin is adorable and rustic with all the amenities. The owners are lovely and accommodating - but not intrusive. Sigh - I would go back right now. (That said - it is a cabin - and if you are going to freak out about a bug or a draft then stay at a hotel - it's not a good match for you.) Thanks again for a perfect week - I can't wait to come back!

Oct. 17, 2010 Dear Sam and Bobby, What a lovely stay we had here in your mountain cabin - from the second we stepped out of the car we knew we were in for a treat. We got so excited when we walked through the door - the details throughout the cabin added such a great touch in creating a true mountain cabin setting for us! We were with our dear friends, and we all had fun picking out our favorite corners of the cabin. i love the swing on the porch and the blue jean curtains in the room with the twin beds; Rosie loved the red lights and liked the general feel of the cabin. Mike loved the wood burning stove; William loved the porch. We just thought the place was so much fun; we loved our stay, and being here with dear friends made it all that more special. The setting right in the woods was spectacular. Bobby, your art work all around was lovely; we especially liked the portrait of the little child peeking through the window! This is a place worth coming back to! Thank you, Mike, Marlene, William and Rosie

It's always amazing to stay; so close to DC [not much over an hour] -- right up the hill from the Shenendoah River, and too too gorgeous. Great walks, too -- on the roads or up on the Appalachian Trail! Less than 1/2 mile away by foot! And when the weather closes in, what a warm, cozy, and beautiful place to be by the fire. We'll be back again and again.

I havnt had time for a vacation in the last two years so this was a great place to get away to. Once we found our way into this very quiet and secluded home. The living area was very comfortable but I liked the open air porch from coffee in the morning to a glass of wine at night it was my place to sit and relax after a busy day of sightseeing .Thank you for all the things you did for us.

Moonridge Cottage is everything advertised and so much more. Bobby and Sam are the perfect hosts, and everything is so quiet and peaceful. There is so much history in Harper's Ferry and the surrounding area, and after a long day of sightseeing it was bliss to go "home" to Moonridge. Bobby and Sam were always available with recommendations, and even accurate hand drawn maps, but never intrusive. We will remember the deer we saw frolicking in the yard, the unmatched view from the mountains, and Bobby's homemade doughtnuts. Thank you so much for a awesome vacation!!

What could be sweeter than awakening to one's husband softly playing guitar on a spacious porch high in the treetops? Joining him to sip my coffee, I heard a rustling below and peered down to see a young buck, with soft furry nubs of antlers, rooting around in the woods and pausing to look right back up at me! Life just gets better and better at Bobby and Sam's cabin. They take wonderful care of their guests, and are the perfect concierges as well as hosts. The bed is comfortable, the cabin is well-appointed, and Bobby happens to be a talented artist as well (her paintings lend a special touch of class). We would highly recommend the Moonridge Cabin for ventures to Harper's Ferry, Charles Town (horse races!), or even Frederick and other nearby attractions. Thanks for everything, Bobby!

Moonridge cabin is the perfect place for a nice relaxing get away. Bobby and Sam are excellant hosts and truly wonderful people. The week we visited the temperatures were over 100+ degrees so after going out in the heat it was terrific to come back to a such a beautiful place with air conditioning that kept us nice and cool. Bobby's artwork adds lots of charm, character and beauty to the cabin and the wildlife we saw was amazing too. We were lucky enough to have a deer make his home for the week under the front porch! If you are looking for a nice place with terrific hosts, look no more, Moonridge is the place for you.

My husband, my mother and myself spent a wonderful tranquil week at Moonridge June 6th - 12th 2010. We found the hospitality beyond compare upon our arrival with freshly baked bread, a bottle of wine and soft music playing. Watching the deer and other wildlife was certainly a perk! Every comfort and consideration was available to us at Moonridge. We were easily able to visit many historical sites in Harpers Ferry, Charles Town and Shepherdstown and the Skyline drive during our stay. Bobby was so very friendly and answered any questions we had. The cabin was spotless! I would recommend this cabin to friends and family who visit this area. Thank you!

Thoroughly enjoyed our 2-night stay at Moonridge Cottage. From Bobby's wonderful welcoming of homemade bread, a bottle of wine to music playing etc. We loved how the cottage was located in the woods in the mountains but conveniently located to Charlestown Races & Slots, Harper's Ferry, Shepherdstown etc. and lots of restaurants. The cottage was clean and very nicely decorated and had a very homey feel with all of Bobby's special touches including her beautiful paintings & decorations. Bobby was also very accommodating with our arrival and departure times. And she was always an ear shot away if we needed anything. I have recommended the cottage to my family and friends and plan to return one day for another wonderful weekend.

Thanks Bobby & Sam, We had a great time at your lovely cabin. It was super to arrive to a warm loaf of fresh bread! We loved all of your art and the many, many small comforts that awaited us. In addition to the cabin itself, we enjoyed hiking nearby on the AT and visiting Harper's Ferry and Shepherdstown. I'm sure we'll be back. Thanks again Dawn K. Wynnewood, PA

Moonridge Cottage was even more than I had hoped for. My boyfriend and I wanted to do something special to celebrate our Christmas, and thought an out-of-the-way (but convenient) cabin in the woods would be perfect. And it was. I was delighted with the special care that Bobby took to make the cabin cozy and festive. Upon our arrival, the wood stove was burning, the tree decorated, and wine waiting on the table. Fresh bread was served to complete the homey atmosphere. Bobby could not have been more accomodating with our early arrival and late departure. Our stay was wonderful, and will return in the spring to enjoy the next phase of mother nature.

Stayed in Wrens View LN cabin for Oct 24 weekend. 1. Will I come back? Definitely yes! For hospitality (the bread Bobby left, nice music on to welcome us), feels like home (handy everything such as kitchenware),also lots of interesting decorations. Nothing to complain for the cabin itself. 2. Tips for guests: follow Bobby's direction exactly, your GPS might not know the exact location. Google map does not at this moment, try yahoo map and spend a few minutes to make yourself familiar with the local routes.

We had a truly restful three days at the cabin. It was a nice break after a whirlwind week in Washington DC. We enjoyed meeting Sam and sorry we missed Bobby. This is a great location from which to take day trips, and then have a cozy place to come home to. The cabin had everything we needed— peace and quiet, games & puzzles, kitchen utensils, wi-fi access… Our favorite feature was the large screened-in porch. We barely used the rest of the cabin— ate all our meals on the porch and sat out there every evening! Hosts couldn’t be nicer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend Moonridge to friends.

There is so much to do in the area of Charles Town and Harper's Ferry, that we need to come back and visit again!

My husband and I stayed at Moonridge for our honeymoon and it was absolutely perfect for what we wanted. We were able to sleep and relax, but also have sights to see locally (Harpers Ferry & Charlestown are really quick drives) The property has a wonderful feel to it that you can't see in the pictures. The inside of the cabin has a wonderful rustic feel, but with very comfortable furniture. There are three skylights that light the cabin up during the day. The kitchen really is well stocked for cooking. Surrounding the cabin are trees that you can hear as the wind whispers through them. Every day we say deer outside the cabin. The porch is fully screened in and has a couch that is great for reading and napping! I would highly recommend this as a place to get away to have a relaxing and quiet getaway. Bobbi and her husband were very accomodating and were great to talk to about the local sights and places to visit. If you do rent the property, be sure to pay attention to Bobbi's directions once you get in the neighborhood (mapquest made it overly confusing).

My friends and I had a wonderful weekend in the charmingly rustic Moonridge cabin. The owner's are fantastic. The property is extremely clean and the accomdations have a feeling of both home and the country. It's easy to find, yet you feel like you're deep in the mddile of the mountains. It's only a 10 minute drive from Charles Town. Do yourself a favor and stay here if you're going to Harpers Ferry!

My sister and her husband came to stay with us for Thanksgiving and we wanted to get away for a few days and saw the ad for the cabin on the internet. We contacted the owners and booked our stay for two nights. When we arrived Bobby and Sam were so nice and made sure we had everything we needed to make us comfortable. The cabin was very charming (decorated so nice). We really enjoyed our stay. We went to Harpers Ferry and Shepherdstown to shop and eat. We also visited the casino.

Moonridge is a great place to get away from the city - close enough to DC to make it an easy trip as well. The leaves were beautiful and the cabin so peaceful. It was very nice to have our own kitchen so we didn't have to eat out for every meal. All in all, it is a great place to spend a weekend or a week - i have recommended it to several friends since returning. We will definitely return.
