As I watch the fall leaves beginning to drop from the trees that have held them, I can’t help but think about the beauty of Horseshoe Lake and how much I’d enjoy being a guest at Beaver’s rental on the lake, right now. A friend and I vacationed at Horseshoe Lake, for 5 days this past summer, using this fabulous cottage as our home away from home. In addition to the quaintness of the lake house, the view of sunsets while seated in Adirondack chairs positioned at the rear of the home, and the proximity of all this beauty and serenity to downtown Memphis, what else could one want for? How about Beaver’s gourmet cooking! In the words of my French grandmother, “C’est bon!” And so as the fall leaves begin to collect at my feet, I am thinking how much I’d again like to be sitting in one of those Adirondack chairs, a glass of red wine in hand, my toes being licked by the flames of the firepit, and feasting on one of Beaver’s homemade and palatable delights. Would I recommend this Lake House for a vacationer? Well heck yeah, I certainly would and do.

We had a wonderful time at this charming lake front property. Our son & his wife live in Memphis, so for a visit we chose this vrbo for us all to stay at together for a long weekend. It was really nice for them to get out of the city in the summer and relax at the lake. We got to enjoy it with them at the same time. We swam, brought our bikes and road around the lake together, just relaxed and visited. The home is decorated with many interesting prints and pieces and was very comfortable and clean. It is in a quiet location off the main roads on one of the widest parts of the lake with a beautiful view and breeze. To add to all these features was the marvelous catering of two fabulous dinners (plus leftovers) brought right to our table by the home's owner who lives next door. She has won awards for her Memphis catering business and I can see why. It was such a treat to just stay put and have these delicious meals brought to us - we felt like royalty! She made the most special, tasty shrimp & crab risotto and chicken & herb rice main dishes, a variety of crisp salads with fresh herbs, homemade dressings, homemade breads and amazing desserts of chocolate cobbler & also peach and pear cobbler. We would have driven a ways to get such lovely meals as these, but to have them brought right to us from next door after we came in dripping from swimming off the home's dock on the lake was a glorious experience! We want to come back and do this again and again! The place, setting, and meals made this the most special fun visit yet we have had to Memphis to see our grown kids. They loved the getaway from the city too - they only had to drive 30 minutes to get there and be in a whole different refreshing and recreational world! It was a joy for us all. THANK YOU, Beaver for a wonderful time! Patricia & Larry - Chattanooga, TN

This place is amazing. Such a cute and comfortable house! We had a great time with swimming and fishing off of the dock and chilling around the fire pit at night! Beaver and Gerry are so sweet and accomodating! We ordered dinner thru Beaver and she prepared us an amazing meal of her world famous chicken and rice along with all of the fixins! There are 2 resteraunts within a mile (that often have blues/country bands) We think that this is the best place ever and seriously 30 min from downtown Memphis! That is closer than most of the other places actually in Memphis! We will be back time and time again! In fact, they may have a hard time getting rid of us!! HIGHLY RECOMMEND BIG MAMMAS HOUSE!
