    • Being in the cool green mountain state of Vermont in the summertime is a magnificent difference from what we are used to in Florida. And, selecting a historic spot such as Proctorsville and the house we stayed in made it even more special. We loved the house for its quaint, New England look (what stories it could tell us if only it could talk) on the exterior but inside it was strictly new and ever-so-spacious. We rattled around in the four bedrooms and having two sitting rooms--one upstairs and one down--gave us the option of togetherness or not. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the world go by. The town center is across the street and one evening during our stay we were treated to a concert. What a fun bonus that was. We found the location perfect for day trips to Burlington for sightseeing on Lake Champlain and to Montpelier and a tour of the historic gold-dome Capitol. Another junket took us to Manchester for a day of outlet shopping and the opportunity to experience Green Mountain National Park. Closer to home we found it the place for the outdoor enthusiast--with so many parks and lakes it is a summertime haven with summer venues offering swimming, boating and fishing. We loved the many cool rushing streams and the universe of wild flowers dancing in the summer breeze along the curvy roads and hilly terrain. This was a comforting, refreshing retreat from Florida's summer-furnace-like blast. Wish we could have stayed longer.

    • We stayed here in the summer of 2008. Huge, newly renovated home with many separate areas, ideal for gathering extended family and friends. Very relaxing, quiet vacation in a beautiful area with lots of year-round outdoor activities. We canoed on a nearby lake and took long walks. We enjoyed walking to Singleton's general store, picking out pre-made meals and gourmet food as well as local items. The owners of the home were very welcoming and gave us lots of activity suggestions.
