Jane Thanks for the stay at your house. I love the house and the way we can accommodate our extended family, everyone with their own bedroom. What I really like is the central location right in town so we can walk everywhere, no need to hassle with parking. Being so near such a beautiful beach is convenient and since I fish I like the easy access to several different types of fishing areas! We take our 4 Wheel Drive and fish for Stripers off South Beach, a clamming permit lets us harvest the freshest shellfish, and Menemsha always offers Blues off the jetty, and Tautog. The kids can walk to the dock for Pogie or Squid- always lots of fun. Of course for the serious fisher there are the prizes offered in the annual Striped Bass Tournament There is not enough time in the day. We use our bikes to explore Felix Neck Nature Center (2 miles away) with its trails. There are views of the surrounding woodlands, salt marsh, ponds, and beaches. We enjoy the ospreys, the tree swallows, and the birds of Cormorant Island. They also have a nesting pair of Barn owls probably one of the most spectacular birds in the Northeast. I love to get away from the family at times, take my canoe and fish the tidal ponds of the island, perfectly quiet. Being able to shower outside kept the house free of sand and we enjoy the large yard, for barbeques and so the kids can play. All in all, your home makes for a fabulous vacation for everyone of us. See you next year! Bill

We have stayed in this comfy cottage for three summers and would highly recommend it. Here's why: First, it is very clean and comfortable. There are cozy couches for resting after a swim or snuggling on a rainy day. There is plenty of room for our crowd. The bathrooms are pretty and clean and there's a fabulous outdoor shower! The fenced in yard has plenty of room for kids to play. The street is nice and quiet - but very well located. From this cozy haven, we can walk to downtown Edgartown or hop on a bus to scoot over to another town without worrying about the traffic or parking. It is a short bike ride to State Beach - even Oak Bluffs isn't bad. Chappy Ferry is practically around the corner. We often take the short walk downtown to fish off the dock, or have an amazing breakfast at Among the Flowers. The Newes From America is a very quaint pub with decent food. The movie theater has several good movies each week. We have even taken advantage of the local clubs and walked home after a long night. You can't beat Edgartown for prettyness. Walking or riding the narrow streets gives you a good chance to admire the beautiful old houses and their enchanting gardens. We often wander over to enjoy the view of the East Chop Lighthouse while we sip a great coffee from Backdoor Donuts right in the heart of downtown. So beautiful! We make it a point every year to go to Menemsha for the rocks at the beach, and the fantastic seafood. They have the freshest lobsters - succulant! and the best fried clams on the East Coast - I promise! And since we're on food, there is a little secret. At the corner of the street is a tiny store/gas station. Early in the morning, or on the way home from the beach we stop there and grab a quick meal to go. Their food is astonishingly tasty Brazilian cuisine. Who knew?! As winter is setting in, and I'm thinking back to summer - I can't wait for July and our return to "our" summer cottage!
