Historic District - Contemporary Townhouse on Forsyth Park
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Savannah
This house is in my opinion ideally located - it has great views of Forsyth Park and i enjoy being able to watch the rugby and ultimate frisbee games from the front steps. Forsyth Park has a great atmosphere, for activities, walking, and is fast becoming the cultural stage for all kinds of concerts and events in Savannah. I further enjoy that it is not amongst the bars and shops of Broughton street. Also, parking is not an issue.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
I enjoy a cup of coffee on the deck watching people take their dogs around the park, or going for a jog. THere is a great health food store on the South of the Park, and the Bean has wonderful Panini's and coffee.
Owner's Map of Savannah
Hi, my name is Erwin Bartsch. I moved to Savannah in 1998 from Cape Town, South Africa and made it my home for the next 10 years. Coming from South Africa, I enjoy outdoors activities such as cycling, kite boarding, and running.

What a beautifully appointed Townhouse in the heart of Savannah. Large rooms, well appointed, comfortable for families and entertaining. We couldn't have been happier with our stay. Next time in Savannah, we'll be back.

Overall this place exceeded my expectations was within walking distance to major key points. A couple of things that left me baffled about the place was 1) The Deck has speakers in it but had no clue as to how to use them (must confess didn't spend too much time on figuring it out ) and 2) the randomly placed nick nacks that seemed out of place like the baby dino toy and toy lizard on two different colums and little troll doll

This place is a great way to experience Savannah! Having lived in Savannah and visted since many times, I vote this as the best way to experience Savannah. Well equipped and beautiful townhome, perfect location and a very cooperative/ communicative owner made for a perfect experience. Would certainly stay here again !

The townhome was just as I expected/hoped from the pictures. There was no let down there. A large park (Forsyth) is close as is the historic district. Everything is within walking distance (a mile or less) and the area is well lit at night. If you come into town on I-16 (the best way) the house is within a half mile of the interstate, and yet it is quiet and peaceful at the house. The only "stress" we had on the trip was the loss of Wi Fi about midway of our stay. For elderly guest or small children the back stairs are a better choice than the front. The front steps, like most homes in the area, are steep and curved.

I had high expectations and it was even better than I had thought. The location is perfect, the decor is great, lots of space and privacy if 2 couples go. I LOVED having the patio and the park is right next door. There is also a laundry room in the house which was great since we have a baby. The is a walking closet in one bedroom, large enough to accomodate a pack N play so your young child doesnt have to share your room. The stairs to get to the condo are very sharp so this wouldn't be a good fit for older people and young children have to be careful. My only complaint would be that the internet wasn't working period. There was very brief times where it would be not consistently. Savannah is such a beautiful city! I have traveled the world and usually I dont like going to the same place twice (I'd rather see something new) but Savannah is the only place in the States I want to go back to.
Owner response:Thanks for the great review. I have resolved WiFi not working - so should not be a problem again. Looking forward to hosting you again.

In September 2009 my husband and I stayed a week in this amazing townhome with dear friends from Australia to celebrate my 40th birthday. This was the best set-up for us--we could sit together on the back deck, cook meals in the fully-functional kitchen (fresh orange juice in the morning!), watch a movie, read, nap, or hit the hay without "leaving" the group. You just can't do that in a hotel! The location of this "home-base" in Savannah is a short walk from funky coffee shops, fancy organic restaurants, kitschy diners, historic homes, and the park. A full-size grocery store is just a quick walk away, too; however, we needed the car for the liquor store ;-). The bathrooms are big and clean. The interior decorating is impeccable. We have 3 kids and our house will never be so "clutter-free", so it was a fantasy stay in that respect, too! The house has full-size washer and dryer so packing light is very doable! We felt lucky to have stayed here, and wanted to leave suggestions/recommendations to the visitors who followed--we feel like we're members of an elite club to have had the opportunity to stay in this lovely place. We'd come back again, for sure!
Owner response:Thank you for the feedback - I really appreciate it!

Beautiful home, great interior decoration. Loved the kitchen and dining room, great to have a good dinner in. Plenty of space for the group I went with. Also, the park is right out your front door, so on a beautiful sunny day it is perfect! Definitely would stay here again.

My family stayed here for the New Year's holiday. The condo is beautiful and spotless! Erwin was great, he made a list of the "must" Savannah restaurants. We didn't make the whole list, but Sticky Fingers BBQ is a must for any rib fan's out there. I would recommend this vacation rental to anyone and would not hesitate to stay again. The first vacation rental that matches what you see in pictures!
