  Friday we arrived for a weekend bachelorette party picked up the key and settled in. There were 9 of us staying in the flat (which she agreed to before we even arrived) and Friday/Friday Night we had a great time without any problems. Saturday we woke up to get ready for our limo ride through Sonoma Wine Country for the day...as we're getting ready we hear a knock at the door...it's the owner. The Maid of Honor answered the door since she booked the flat. We were immediately scolded for "breaking the rules". What rules we all wondered..well she told us "the recycling and trash has be done like this, and no access to the rooftop garden after 9PM, if you want to smoke you have to stand across the street one the sidewalk, and no visitors, and no parties". We all apologized for going on the roof after 9PM on Friday night and said it wouldn't happen again and thought that would be the end. Instead she stood there talking for another 45 minutes when she knew we had to be out the door by 10. She warned us of the "weirdos" in SF who would try to break in and "screw" us. She also warned us that the fire department across the street was desperate for money and if we did anything remotely "crazy" they would bust in to check on us and charge us...uhm ok? She left us to get ready but little did we know she was outside grilling our limo driver about where we were going, how many of us there were, what time we would be back...you get the point. So Saturday while we were gone she took the opportunity to move herself into the empty flat above us to basically spy on us the whole weekend. This included lurking around the property during the day, knocking on the doors to tell us to "quiet down" and she even went so far as to say "the other tenants" were going to call the police. There were NO other tenants besides us (and her spying on us). Total buzzkill for 9 almost-30 year olds on a bachelorette weekend vacation just having a good time. We were very respectful, didn't break or ruin anything and always responded to her requests politely but she'd always come back to complain about something else. Bottom line it was like we stayed at our grandma's house all weekend and got watched over and scolded constantly. Not fun. If you are under 40 STAY AWAY from this property because my guess is you will be harassed your entire stay. Rules should be posted in the flat but something tells me the rules vary depending on who your group is.

  Our family recently spent four days at Harkka. We were a group of 7 and squeezed 2 onto a foldout futon in one of the bedrooms but it worked. We thoroughly enjoyed cooking meals at "home" as it gave us more time to enjoy our family. We were able to walk to downhill to Chinatown with a brisk walk back up to work off the dim sum! We were able to meet Patricia, the owner, who made us feel like instant friends! Check in and out was flawless and we feel we we received full value plus for our rental fee.

  Great large apartment located in the heart of San Francisco. Very chicly decorated with a huge kitchen, nice garden and lovely roof deck. The owner, Patricia, is welcoming, very accommodating, and has compiled an extensive list of hot spots in town to aid your visit. Apartment is across the street from a bus stop, and taxis are also easy to flag or call, so a car isn't necessary, which is great considering the difficulty of finding parking anywhere in SF. That said, street parking on the block is easier than most streets. Highly recommended!

  We highly recommend Harkka to stay while in the San Francisco area. Seven of us, two adults and five children (ages 3-14) stayed comfortably in the apartment and the amenities were fantastic. The kitchen and laundry room made the stay very enjoyable. The location was perfect as we were able to walk or take the trolley to most of the places we visited. Everything we needed was provided and the owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. She provided us with information on restaurants and places to visit. We would definitely recommend this location to anyone traveling to the San Francisco area.

  I recently rented this property for a 4 day stay with my family visiting from Mississippi~~ 2 adults and 2 teens ages 17 and 19~~ This property was spectacular in terms of space, amentities and location! The owner was extremely helpful in recommending nearby restaurants, attractions and transportation. The pictures posted on the internet are a true reflection of the property and amenities. The cable car to either Fisherman's Wharf or Union Square is literally steps away. Great restaurants on Polk Street are within a easy walk and the market across the street~~ Le Beau's~~is terrific! Their deli is delicious and service is impecible! I will definitely recommend this property to my friends! Thanks Patricia for helping make this a great vacation for my family!   The stay in San francisco was made even nicer by the remarkable dwelling we lushed out in!. The apartment is a very spacious, well appointed place to call home for a few days or a few weeks. We thouroughly enjoyed the location, the quality and the style of the apartment. Cant wait to come and visit again.! Would reccomend without reservation.

  Stayed here in January and definitely would go again. Big rooms beautifully decorated with fine art work. Well-appointed kitchen and big dining room. The owner was friendly, eager to make me comfortable, and provided a great list of restaurants, clubs, stores, and art galleries in the Nob Hill area. Conveniently, the bus line is only a few doors away, going right to Union Square and all the events there .No walking up and down the hill. All in all, a great spot from which to enjoy a fabulous city.

  We stayed at this superbly maintained property in the great location of Nob Hill. The owner presented the property in total consistency with the website, and it was well equiped and beautifully decorated. Our family of two adults and 3 children (17, 15 and 11) had plenty of room as there were four bedrooms. The owner provided us with personal contact and direction, and left us with information on restaurants and places to visit. Her detailed notes were of great use. The description of the property was totally accurate, and the website was true to visit - unlike other properties that we stayed in during our USA stay. This was the best apartment by far, even though other apartments were of similar cost. We liked the owner stopping in to say "hello", and providing a warm welcome - not only wehn we arrived but in all communications prior to the stay. I would recommend the apartment to my friends as they would enjoy the same experience. We saw the main attractions and tried the restaurants recommended by Patricia, the owner, and they were all great. The location was perfect - close to main attractions and tramcars, with a smal lquality supermarket across the road. We give the apartment top marks !!!

  This is a great property in the heart of Nob Hill. We stayed here for one week and it was an excellent experience from the booking to the check out and everything in between. Patricia is a responsible and very responsive host, we picked up the keys from her and walked into a wonderful home. Everything was clean, orderly, functional and comfortable. The bedrooms are spacious, beds are nice and the kitchen has all the essentials and more for cooking/baking/preparing coffee etc.... Patricia even left fresh fruits and cookies for us in the kitchen. We truly enjoyed our stay and will definitely stay here again next time we are in SF. Highly recommend this property!

  I've stayed at this location for two separate visits and thoroughly enjoyed this lovely home both times. The house is beautifully restored and decorated in a unique style that is artist and comfortable at the same time. The location is perfect: we were close to everything we needed and choose to walk to most destinations. Everything we needed was provided and the owner was exceptionally friendly and helpful. When it was time to go home, I didn't want to leave. My trip wasn't just a nice visit, I felt I had experienced living in San Francisco and I absolutely loved it. The photos capture the homes atmosphere, but not the size of the space. It was so lovely, I took over two dozen photos myself as souvenirs and reminders of a lovely stay.

  Myself and a group of people from my company in Denmark stayed at the apartment again for a week in September 2010. As usual the landlady, Patricia, was extremely helpful and took care of everything we needed. The apartment is spacious and wonderful and the location at the top of the hill just across from a very nice little convenience store is perfect. This was our third stay, and we will definitely be coming back. I would recommend this apartment for everyone looking for a comfortable place to stay in Sna Francisco.

  I had the idea to take my whole family, 5 people, to visit San Francisco. I have to say, I was impressed with this very large apartment. The apartment is in a fantastic location on the top of Nob Hill, right across the street from a small gourmet grocery store. We were in the perfect launching point for all the sightseeing and San Francisco activities we wanted to do. The decor and furnishings were both modern and elegant and the flat has ample space. There was great artwork in the apartment, which added to the apartment's appeal The beds were luxurious and comfortable. The kitchen and dining room are very large and made to entertain elegantly. The kitchen was stocked with all the appliances, dishes and stemware needed to throw a great family dinner. There's a cute little terrace in the back and a great roof garden view fantastic views of the golden gate bridge and the bay. We parked in the garage that Patricia reccomended, which was convenient. The extra bonus was that we didn't have to pay extra to use the internet in the apartment -- it was free. My family really enjoyed their stay there, as it felt like a luxurious home rather than small hotel room. I highly reccomend this apartment!

  We stayed in this apartment for a long weekend with a one year old and five adults and I can tell you - IT TICKS ALL THE BOXES! It is in a great central location (mins walk from cable car stop), in a lovely old building, renovated extremely tastefully with modern and vintage elements throughout. The artwork, upholstery and bedding is all very high end, no expense spared, which makes it feel like a boutique hotel but with all the comforts and conveniences of home. In other words, PERFECT! It is a more spacious apartment than you see in the pictures, as it is quite long, with bedrooms and little courtyard garden in the back, nice and separate from kitchen, dining and living at the front. The two single brms are pretty small, but very good for kids / teens / singles. The rest of the house more than makes up for smaller brms for some. Oh, and then,...the rooftop garden! A secret staircase through the laundry room takes you up to the very top for a STUNNING view. Open from 9.30am-9pm it is perfect for a sunset drink. You can see Golden Gate bridge from here! Unbelievable! The owner, Patricia is warm, funny and very accommodating. You will get a list of recommended restaurants and shops, info about a limo airport pick up (Driver Nabil is great, I highly recommend) and anything else you require. Just ask! Well, I couldn't have asked for more. This was an unforgettable weekend in San Fran. A HUGE thank you to Patricia - this trip was the best.

  We highly recommend Harkka for a luxurious stay in San Francisco. The stunningly appointed four bedroom apartment, located in Nob Hill is within quick and easy walking distance of SFO's most famous sites, downtown, shopping areas, and fabulous local restaurants. The apartment features every mod con you need for a short or extended holiday or work stay so just bring yourselves. It was a delightful home away from home for us for nearly two weeks. Parking is available in a close by block.
