Or relax with a view of ponds and wildlife and even the rising moon from our large SCREENED FRONT PORCH. This home on Chincoteague features four bedrooms, three on the second floor and one on the first, easily sleeping 8 people.
There are three full baths and an outside shower. It has central heat and air, or you can leave the windows open and enjoy the breezes. The location is peaceful and serene and ideal for a family or a romantic getaway. The house is near several other rental properties, an ideal location for a family reunion or other group events. Just a mile or so from downtown shops and restaurants, an easy flat bike ride to Assateague Island, for beaches, ponies, and birds, and a short distance from crabbing and fishing areas, this home is perfect for the whole family.
At any time of year, this area is sublime. Assateague Island is home to the National Seashore, one of the most unspoiled beaches on the East Coast, with wonderful warm water perfect for surfing, swimming, and fishing. There are many bike paths. The Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge, also on Assateague, is the home of many bird species as well as rare squirrels, turtles, muskrats, deer, elk, and of course the wild ponies.
In the fall snow geese settle in and you can see and hear them until they leave in the spring. What a sight it is when the flock decides to relocate to another area of the marsh. You see a huge cloud of white and hear them chatting as they rise up to the sky. Winter brings blustery days and colorful landscapes, with impressive views of rough waters across Chincoteague Bay. A rare snow paints the landscape. In spring the marsh awakens and many artists come and set up their easels to paint. Even though the name of the house is "A Summer Place," this idyllic home on Chincoteague is a perfect place to vacation, all year round.
