Potrero Hill is a unique San Francisco Neighborhood, providing a respite from the hustle and bustle of the city, yet allowing easy access to the heart of San Francisco, with all that it has to offer. Located on the eastern edge of the city, it is the sunniest part of town. The “hill” as we like to call it, offers small independent businesses, including Christopher’s Books, Farley’s Coffee Shop, and a terrific corner store that houses it’s own bakery. There are also several excellent restaurants close by to choose from.
Our classic, spacious, 800 sq. ft., Edwardian apartment is located in a quiet four-unit building on a street full of San Francisco charm and character. On the corner is a cross-town bus that easily connects you to the city center where you can transfer to a bus going uptown, or downtown or to Bay Areas Rapid Transit. By car, both major freeways, Hwy 280 and Hwy 101 are just minutes away, connecting you to the South Bay or the East Bay. Parking in front of the building is always easy and available. A parking permit can be obtained with two weeks advance notice at a cost of $25.00 per week.

We have created an environment that is comfortable and modern in it’s simplicity, while maintaining the character of the classic San Francisco apartment. There are sugar pine floors and classic wood moldings throughout, built in cabinets in the kitchen and dining room. The kitchen is fully equipped with full size refrigerator, stove, toaster oven and microwave, as well as pots, pans and dinnerware. Original artwork hangs throughout the apartment. Both the dining room and the kitchen look out to our beautiful garden that gives a feeling of space and intimacy. The apartment also has a private patio overlooking the garden. The bathroom still has the original claw-foot tub. Perfect for a late afternoon soak. There is beautiful sun morning and evening.

The apartment has one bedroom with a queen sized bed and cable T.V. There is also a very comfortable sofa(this is not a clunky pullout sofa)in the living room that converts to a double bed and has a door that closes to allow for privacy.

Shared complimentary washer and dryer.
Homemade scones, fresh butter, milk and preserves provided on arrival.
Private entrance.

If you are here to work, the apartment has wifi access and a office area.

Come enjoy your home away from home.

Please, no smoking, no parties and no pets.

Owners can apply for street parking permit on your behalf if enough time allows (3 weeks). See Rates/Fees below.

Why the Owner Chose Potrero Hill

Potrero Hill is one of the gems of San Francisco with many hidden treats and gardens. It is still very much an original San Francisco neighborhood.

The Unique Benefits at this Apartment

I have lived here for over 20 years and have fallen in love with the neighborhoods combination of the edgy city and the peaceful retreat.

A
Public Transportation, 19 Polk

19 Polk Bus. One of the major cross town busses is right at the corner.

B
Our corner store

This traditional SF corner market is a meeting place for the neighborhood. Family run by Frank & Nora you will find fresh pastries coming out of the bakery in the back. Grab a cup of coffee and a sweet before popping on the 19 Polk bus.

C
18th st shopping area

Wonderful neighborhood restaurants, independent bookstore, wine shop, one of a kind shops & cafes. The heart of Potrero Hill. A treat for anyone wanting to feel San Francisco neighborhoods.

D
20th St Shopping area

Neighborhood at it's best, grocery, library, cafe

E
Pac Bell Park

A must for all Baseball fans

F
Mission District

Everything hip and happening. Some of the best food and unique shops, art galleries and artists in the city. The Mission is well known for it's wonderful Mexican food and culture. It is also home to many of the best murals in the city.

G
Tartine Bakery

WOW! It's the best and well worth the wait. Their bread is the best I have ever tasted, bar none.

Excellent Place!

Date of Stay: 08/26/11 Review Submitted: 09/05/11

We are originally from SF and live internationally now. This Apartment was just what we needed for our week long stay. It's quiet, in a good neighborhood, conveniently located, and extraordinarily comfortable. As someone who's originally from SF and been all over the world, this apartment comes highly recommended. It's a steal for the location and price. Thank you Karen and Laura! Amazing!

Owner response:Our primary goal in creating our VRBO apartment was to provide the kind of place Matt has described, with an emphasis on comfort.

Excellent stay for a week of work travel!

Guest: Catherine (Suburban Washington D.C.)
Date of Stay: 07/21/11 Review Submitted: 08/01/11

I felt like I lived in Potrero Hill, in fact, if I ever had to relocate to San Francisco, I'd hope to nab this great apartment for a rental! I stayed for a week for work travel. This was a great option for me -- SO much better than staying in a hotel! The location was fantastic for city meetings, and I also had a good jumping off point for East bay and other meetings too. I really benefited from having Whole Foods, Pretzel's Yoga, the corner store, nail salons and Chez Maman nearby -- all within a short drive. The apartment was better than any VRBO I've ever rented -- the design and textiles were top-notch, the linens were plentiful and lovely, and the vintage white and neutrals were calming. I really appreciated having a fully stocked kitchen with paper towels, napkins, and the bath with a collection of toiletries, bath salts and lotions (yes, I made some additions to the "inventory"). It was also super CLEAN (and I'm a clean freak!) -- many thanks to the housekeeper who keeps everything in order. Much appreciated. As a single woman traveler, I also felt safe and secure, and appreciated that the owners live upstairs -- and they're super nice and even organized the parking permit. I even had a cat to pet when I sat in the lovely garden, and beautiful flowers too. What could be better? Highly recommended!

Owner response:Catherine found all of the wonderful things about Potrero Hill, and more!!

Perfect Summer Visit

Guest: Todd (Florida)
Date of Stay: 07/11/11 Review Submitted: 07/27/11

Our family stayed here for a nine day visit in July of 2011, and we would happily stay here again, and recommend the apartment to others. The owners are helpful and responsive, and the apartment is exactly as pictured. Though we didn't initially consider Potrero Hill, we fell in love with the neighborhood - do not miss Goat Hill Pizza on Monday evenings. The bedroom was lovely, and the convertible bed in the bright living room was perfect for our twin six-year-olds. Whole Foods only a few blocks away. Enjoy the hills!

Owner response:It is always nice to hear such positive reviews about the Potrero Hill neighborhood. It is definitely one of the hidden treasures of San Francisco.

stayed 3 weeks

Guest: Sheila (Santa Fe)
Date of Stay: 02/25/10 Review Submitted: 03/21/11

This is a beautiful, clean, light and bright apartment. The owners are pleasant, accommodating but unobtrusive. I enjoyed my stay very much and would highly recommend this apartment. I stayed 3 weeks in February and found it very comfortable and easy. One note of warning - this is a very hilly area so if you don't plan on hiking up and down S.F. hills, bring a car. It's a straight shot to downtown or the Mission and close to the freeways. Best deal I found and well worth it! It's easy to forget what a small town San Francisco really is.

Owner response:We have worked to make our apartment the kind of place we would want to stay. Sheila's kind comments reflect our success.

A perfect home away from home, will be back!

Guest: Boaz (Washington DC)
Date of Stay: 01/14/11 Review Submitted: 01/21/11

This was our second time staying at this wonderful property. We were transitioning between Asia and the East Coast. We arrived after 27 hr. of travel. The place is so homey and perfect to get over jet-lag. The location is perfect, with endless parking, easy access to 3 Hwys, nice restaurants near by, including Trader Joe’s, and other major shopping just down the street. It was just as wonderful the 2nd time. We will be back when we come to visit family and need our own getaway. The owners are very nice, providing advice and guidance on the area, as well as providing you absolutely everything you would need to feel like your at home.

We had a great time here, wish we could have stayed longer. The apartment was a perfect size for us and now when we return homes, we know what we are looking for in an apartment. It was so nice to come back from a busy day to a home-cooked meal and comfy bed. The buses took us wherever we needed to go. The milk and scones were greatly enjoyed on our first day. Thanks again. If we ever return and this is still available, would love to come back.

This has been our favorite vacation so far. The apartment gave us the real feel of living in S.F., which we hope to do someday. The apartment was lovely and in a perfect location - the 19 bus line got us just about everywhere. Thank you for the wonderful fruit, which lasted our entire trip. And the scones were amazing! Thanks for everything.

Thanks for your hospitality during our stay. I've absolutely loved staying here at your apartment. The interiors are to my taste, the backyard and scenery is beautiful and the furnishings are comfortable. Thank you for the touches you add to the place - the scones, jam and butter, the sustainable products, the wifi, the parking permit and for helping print our Alcatraz tickets. Finally, the price was right!!
