My wife and I didnt get much time off during the holidays this year, so we decided to take a few days in January to relax and unwind by ourselves. I must say the cabin was extremely clean with all the comforts (and more) of home. The gas grill looked to be almost new and was a high quality Weber. The wrap around porch in the back has a covered area with table (would seat 4 easily) which was also a nice touch. I was worried the hot tub gazeebo was going to be further from the cabin than it was, it was literally just a few steps from the back door, so don't worry about being too far from the cabin when relaxing in frigid weather. The first thing you'll notice when arriving is the sound of water. Once you walk into the cabin and look out the back window, you'll see why. The creek is literally at your back steps and has a dramatic drapery of rhododendrum framing a gorgeous bend in the creek. Inside, you'll find everything you need for cooking, washing clothes, etc. All in all, I feel we made a great choice on this one. We'd hoped to have better weather (for sightseeing and hiking) but I guess it just wasnt meant to be this time. Instead, we just enjoyed the cabin and listened to the rain and creek....I'll take it.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Nugget! Thank you so much for the pumpkin bread and all the nice little touches in the cabin that make the stay even more enjoyable. The set up was perfect for our vacation. We really enjoyed seeing Bald River Falls, Coker Creek Falls, Canasagua Falls, Buck Bald, Tellico Plains and Coker Creek visitor centers, and the Cherohala Skyway. The nights at the cabin were very relaxing with the sound of the rushing creek water and the beautiful stars. The people everywhere were very friendly and helpful! Bill took us out panning for gold and we learned a lot about the area. The trip was wonderful! Thanks again!

This was not our first stay at the Nugget, but as usual it was great. It's a perfect place to bring our family. We hiked in the Cherokee Forest by day and played games around the family style dining table at night. The kitchen is well appointed, so we cooked and ate in most meals. We spent the end of each day in the hot tub - one night we watched it snow and the next we stargazed. A great way to relax after some tough hikes and some difficult geocaches. After the rain and snow, Fall Branch Falls, Gorge Falls, Bald River Falls, and Conasauga Falls were roaring. The snow made it too risky to head to Middle Falls in the Snowbirds. We do miss the Upper Tellico OHV area, but we hope all of the local influence will get it reopened. We look forward every Christmas to spending some time in Coker Creek and this little cabin is one of the highlights.

Just got home from a wonderful weekend at The Nugget. We would recommend this cabin to any of our friends. We will definitely be staying there again. All of the descriptions were right on target. We had my family over on Thanksgiving evening and everyone was impressed with how well-equipped everything was. Many thanks to the owners for sharing their piece of paradise.

We had an absolutely wonderful time staying at the Nugget again! We ran out of time to sign the guestbook :( So I thought I would just let you know how much we loved being in your lovely cabin for the 3rd year. We feel like we are coming to our "second home" when we walk in the door. The cinnamon bread was delicious and such a sweet gesture, thank you very much. It is SO peaceful, all of us really needed that after a very stressful year. We always look forward to The Gathering every year for spiritual renewal, and equally look forward to being in The Nugget for relaxation renewal! Thank you, thank you, thank you.

As nice or better than most hotels at the same price. Secluded and quite, about 10 miles from town (Tellico Plains). The Cherohala Skyway starts at Tellico Plains and will lead you to anywhere you want to go in the Smokies. Our only regret is that we did not spend much time at the cabin. We left early each morning and rode the mountains all day on motorcycles then returned late each evening. We will likely stay here again and would recommend this place to anyone that wants to get away from the noise but stay close enough drive to attractions. Gattlingburg is about a couple hours away depending on which route you take and we saw many other attractions in the mountains as we rode. The driveway was a little loose for motorcycles but we managed ok. The owner was very open and receptive to our feedback on how to improve the drive for riders. If you have ever rode on any gravel, you should be able to handle this drive. If you are unsure you might walk the drive the first time to look for trouble spots. There is one short (about 20 feet) slope half way down the drive that has a couple bumps on the left side. When leaving, stay on the left side of the drive before pulling out on the main road, the drive is well compacted there. I hope I'm not sounding too negative, as we will likely stay there again, just think it's something riders need to know. The drive in a car would seem like most other drives. Call before you book as the owner was very honest in her description of the driveway when we called and maybe will make some improvements. As for the bad review a couple back, we did not see anything like they described. With the exception of what we might have tracked in on our feet, we cleaned up after ourselves and the owner promptly refunded our deposit. If it were your place you would expect the same respect.

Ants everywhere, craweld all over me at night. Bug traps laying on the sinks. A dead animal rotting by the front door that I had to remove myself. I have talked to other people that live in the area that said they are cons and very give back damage deposits. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE!!!
Owner response:I hope you will consider this review in context with the others who have been impressed with the cleanliness of the cabin and its maintenance. This renter trashed the cabin leaving food on the floors and walls. The washing machine and a screen door were damaged and the yard required extensive clean-up from cigarette butts, pinata fragments and melted candles. She is unhappy that I retained the damage deposit. The clean-up and washing machine repair exceeded the damage deposit substantially.

i do not know what that last review is getting at. when we stayed there the place was more then clean. and wehn we left we left the place just as nice as it was when we got there i can only think that the last comment was form someone that was a pig and did not care about other peoples property. did you not see the butt cans on the front and back porch. and did you not see the cleaning supplies that the owner had under the kitchen sink to clean up after you made it dirty. come on you my friend where just plain old pigs . and as for the ants lets see cabin in the woods ummmmm me think there might be some bugs in them woods . all i can say to anyone looking at the reviews consider the source when we where there in june 2011 the place was as i stated before heaven with out going there.

What can you say about “The Nugget” except it was a slice of heaven without actually going there The cabin itself was warm and the surroundings were relaxing. The neighbors were friendly and the roads for riding were exceptionally! We would not hesitate to return or recommend “The Nugget” to all of our friends. Thank you Susan for a great vacation!!! We have rented cabins before in the Smoky Mountains area and this cabin matched the quality of life found there. Rental cabins tend to be skimpy on details, but this one had all the right touches. The creekside location was exactly as advertised. The kitchen was stocked with the utensils a serious cook loves to have on-hand. The bedrooms were totally clean and very peaceful. We enjoyed exploring the Cherokee forest area and coming home to "our" cabin. The next time we want a mountain experience, we will definitely rent here again.

We just rented the nugget for a weekend in March. We had a great time!! Very roomy and very clean! Sue was great to work with. The back deck looks over a small creek with the hot tub right there! Our kids are in their early twenties and this was the hot spot. My husband loved the grill and the neighbers were great! We plan to go back again. Some of the sight seeing was a little backroads, but well worth the trips. We loved Buck Bald (you can see 3 states and the smoky mountains) and the water falls were amazing!

The Nugget is a lovely place in a lovely setting. It has excellent amenities, comfortable beds, beautiful views -- "cabin" does not do it justice. More like a B&B where you make your own breakfast! While the weather was warmer than expected, we did not let that get in the way of our enjoyment of the area (the Cherohala Skyway and Buck Bald - both with spectacular views). We grilled our own gourmet dinners, enjoyed the Jacuzzi every evening, and listened to the babbling creek and assorted birds. Heaven! While we did not need the "handicapped accessible" features of this cabin, we appreciate the extra effort of the owners to make it accessible to all.

Peaceful, restful, enjoyable, relaxing, all are words that could describe our weekend at the Nugget. The directions took us right there. They were right on. The light was on for us when we arrived. We loved the wood walls and floors. The glass doors with blinds onto the back deck over looking the creek flowing by added to our peaceful experience. We walked out to the Seven sisters and spoke with the rural neighbors. All were lovely people. We hiked up the mountain road. Very peaceful. We drove back to Connasagua Falls. The hike in was easy. The hike out took a bit of effort, but worth it we thought. There is a DVD player but no VCR so come prepared. Dish Network worked just fine. We enjoyed eating on the deck by the creek as well as in the Nugget itself. The lighting, the kitchen cabinets, and appliances all contributed to the atmosphere of a cozy get-a-way. The hot tub overlooking the creek was our favorite spot. It was clean and ready for use as was the entire place. We would recommend the Nugget for anyone wanting a quiet get-a-way. We hope to be able to go and take some friends next time. The two bedrooms are upstairs with a balcony and chairs overlooking the creek and the hot tub off the main bedroom. Beds had lots of pillows. The king size bed was great. Both Becky and Susan were great to work with, helpful in every way. Thanks Becky for your special kindness you left for us. We enjoyed it all. If you want an out of the way place to spend some time the Nugget could just be the place. PS There is a gentle ramp around the side to the back deck if a wheelchair is needed.

We spent a blissful week at the Nugget. Beautiful setting, great cabin. Loved the deluxe sheets, the hot tub with optional privacy shades, tthe kitchen, the TV--everything! Loved the Seven Sisters across Highway 68 from Goldminer's Lane. Beekeepers, craftsmen, homemade ice cream--sit on the porch and have a relaxed chart with the owners-operators. Great folks. Susan (the owner) was very accomodating--we left our contour pillow, and she had them sent back to us. Thank you! Combines the best of the rustic with the comfort of a deluxe hotel. We will be back!.

My husband and I stayed at the Nugget over the 4th of July weekend. This was our first visit to the Coker Creek area, and will not be our last. I just finished my first year teaching high school, and really needed some peace and quiet to recharge my batteries. My husband loves to fish, and found great spots to go out to each morning while I sat on the back porch sipping coffee and communing with nature. Over the years we have rented many cabins/chalets etc, and both agreed that the Nugget was the best we have ever stayed in. No detail was overlooked in this property. We will definitely be back!

My family and I enjoyed a wonderfully peaceful week at "The Nugget." My sister, who is disabled, was able to be with us because of the amazing accessibility of this cabin. With the ramp into the house and the first floor completely accessible, she was able to enjoy the peace and serenity along with mom and I. We desperately needed some peace and quiet, and that is exactly what we had. The great thing was, we didn't have to lose any of the conveniences of home to find that peace. We sat on the back deck, listening to the water and watching the hummingbirds all day long. The hot tub was an amazing experience. The hot tub is relaxing on its own, but when you add the sounds of the creek, and the natural beauty of the landscape......it's an experience that everyone should have. We were able to cook complete meals (and actually enjoy it) in the deluxe kitchen. Everything that was needed had already been thought of right down to the last detail. The large grill on the deck was perfect. Our grilled steaks had never tasted better than they did when we enjoyed them while sitting on the deck listening to the creek. I would highly recommend this cabin to anyone wanting a "true" vacation. One word of advice......book a week, two days is not enough! We will be back.

This was our 3rd trip to the area, and the 3rd cabin we've rented. "The Nugget" was our favorite by far. The location is excellent, the creek and the woods are beautiful. The cabin was clean and very cozy - we felt right at home. Sue, you've thought of all of the right touches - a well equipped kitchen, the down duvets on the beds, the treat in the fridge, and even a welcoming Christmas wreath & decorations for the holiday season. Bald Creek Falls was stunning this time of year, and our Lost Sea tour was fun, but mostly we enjoyed the family time playing games, or watching the bowl games in front of the fire. We're looking forward to making a return trip in the spring or summer.

Well my brothers and I wanted to surprise our mother for her 40th Birthday with a nice, peaceful getaway. Thats exactly what she got. The pictures online does not do the place justice. It is so much better in person. We decided that we will be going back every year and hopefully be able to stay longer because 2 nights there was not enough. I would suggest this place to all my friends and family and anyone who wants a beautiful and very nice place to getaway to!

The Nugget is an absolutely ideal location for a peaceful and relaxing break. It is set half a mile of the main road, surrounded by woodland and is equipped with everything you could need. Sitting in the hot tub at nightime with a glass of wine (which you will need to bring with you as this is a dry county) with the only sound the babbling brook and not another house to be seen is an experience not to be missed. If you can bear to tear yourself away, The Cherohala skyway is 10 miles away and there are scenic walks and waterfalls within easy reach. Eating out opportunities are fairly limited - The Tellicafe in nearby Tellico Plains is recommended, but you would do better to stock up on provisions and rustle up a meal and the barbecue or in the state of the art oven and eat on the verandah overlooking the stream.

What a GREAT getaway we had at the Nugget! My husband and 2 children, ages 3 and 5 had a fun filled 5 days in Coker Creek. The kids loved the air hockey, fishing and wading in the stream, and just wandering along the road looking at and experiencing nature. The hottub and the very nice grill were a nice treat for my husband and I. We spent alot of time at the cabin because it met all of our needs. We wanted to get away and that we did! Would love to come back again! Have already referred two of our friends to The Nugget. Very clean and neat!

Excellent, absolutely excellent. We've been coming to Coker creek each summer for the last few years and staying at Angel Loft. It being sold, we found the Nugget, and indeed Nugget it is. Everything was as promised and more. Sitting on the back porch early in the morning drinking coffee, feeding Squirrels, listening to the stream and watching Hummingbirds work the Laurel was a dream come true. By the way, the people of Coker Creek and tellico Plains are super. Thank you Susan, until next year

Jay and I both have very high stress jobs and our week at the Nugget was just what the doctor ordered! We've been coming to Coker Creek for 3 years and the cabin we'd stayed at before was sold. I was so upset but when we found the site for the Nugget my hopes were really up there. When we arrived and the creek was right off the back porch we both fell in love! They had filled the hummingbird feeder and the regular bird feeder and even had some pastries for us as a welcome! I can't say enough about the Cabin. It was fabulous! Our cell phones didn't work there (BIG BONUS!) yet we had wi-fi internet to stay connected as we saw fit. We also loved the air hockey especially when we had younger visitors. Spent lots of time in the hot tub or in the lawn swing just enjoying all of nature and watching the birds and squirrels. Nice and quiet. Jay had a good time with all the HD channels on the TV and we used the grill and had most of our meals on the porch. Loved it! We will be back again and again!

The Nugget is a great place to stay. Located in a quiet small residential area and with every amenity you could need, that peaceful, easy feeling arrives quickly and stays with you. The home is well-furnished and very comfortable. Everything works like it's supposed to, and the owner has paid a lot of attention to the little details that make staying there a pleasure. We panned for gold, drove the Cherahola mountain parkway, visited Coker Creek's historic sites, waterfalls, and with so many other things to do, it's hard to remember them all. We met great people in the local shops, everyone was friendly and helpful. We recommend The Nugget for anyone looking for a peaceful, unhurried, and relaxing vacation.

This cabin a jewel. The theme of “away from it all” is accurate. The cabin provides solitude yet contains amenities that are beyond the call for a vacation rental. The inside and outside spaces are blended to make for a splendid retreat. The welcoming pastries and many area maps and “to do” guides were a great introduction to the area. The house and grounds were very clean and well cared for. The back deck and hot tub are situated alongside a small stream for relaxing sounds day and night. Do yourself a favor – book this cabin, pack up your stuff and go relax in style.

Everywhere we looked in this home away from home, there was another detail showing someone was thinking of our comfort. From the pastries in the refrigerator with a welcoming note, to magazines, games, and movies, to instructions on how to explore the area, we felt cared for and comforted while enjoying the quiet noise of the stream and the birds and the crickets. The cabin was meticulously clean and not hard to find, in spite of the solitude it offers. The design of the home allows any group togetherness or solitude as needed, and the kitchen is well-outfitted…which is good, because once you arrive, you never want to leave!
