A very luxurious apartment in the grounds of the historic Villa Capoana!
Villa Capoana was constructed in the year 1605 for the Duke of Mount Marciano in the locality of Fonte Uga in Fiumelatte. It was home to noble families for many generations until just recently, a part of it was reconstructed. In renovating, the construction company has ensured the preservation of the monumental fountain and garden area, which is a highlight of the historic villa and is now showpiece of the exclusive residence, which retains beauty and prestige.
This newly constructed apartment (ID 140) offers only the highest quality fixtures and fittings throughout, with no expense spared. The interior finishes of the apartment are beautifully done from the bleached-oak parquet floor to the soft painted suede finish walls. It is fitted with all modern appliances to facilitate this apartment with a fully-fitted luxury kitchen which allows you to cook your favourite Italian dishes, using fresh herbs available in the garden area. There are two bedrooms and two bathrooms, one of which has a 'built–in' tiled bath tub, big enough for two, letting you relax together in style.
There is also a flat screen HD TV with Sky movie channels and DVD player to the living area which is framed by two large sliding glass doors to access the spectacular terrace, giving picture-postcard views of the lake throughout the apartment and creating a superb entertaining area.
You can enjoy the heat of the sun on this spacious front terrace while preparing a barbeque on the outdoor grill, or stay cool under the shade of cypress trees, in the beautiful paved garden behind.
The two luxurious double bedrooms both enjoy flat screen HD TVs and enjoy direct access through French doors to the guests’ spacious sunny terrace.
A special feature of this apartment is that it has direct access to the amazing monumental fountain which runs down from the mountain. You can sit here in the private garden sipping wine, or dining in the shade of the cypress and palm trees while watching the water run through the fountain down to the lake, only a few meters below.
The apartment has an under floor heating system which keeps it warm during the colder season and centralized air-conditioning with individually controlled zones to keep it cool in the summer. It also has a private garage with automatic remote control doors. The property is accessed by elevator with private keys. Fiumelatte train station is also very near the apartment.
The apartment is in the village of Fiumelatte, part of the beautiful town of Varenna, just 1 km away on the Eastern shore of Lake Como. The property has been designed to take full advantage of the lakes premier view of the 'Golden Triangle' (Bellagio, Menaggio and Varenna).
Varenna is home to Italy's shortest river, the Fiumelatte. Only 250 meters long it rushes, frothy and milky-white (hence the name) down the rock face and crashes into the lake from the end of March to the end of October each year. And then it stops - just like that. Leonardo da Vinci climbed down to find out where the water came from (without success!), as recorded in his Codice Atlantico notebook.
Skiing in the area is bountiful with resorts such as Madesimo 1.15hr to the north and the local ski resort of Piani di Bobbio, only 40 mins away. The International jet-set resort of St. Moritz is just 1.5 hours by car.

Our one & two weekly service charges are inclusive of final cleaning, bed linen, towels, heating, utilities & air-conditioning (if installed in the holiday property). Tea towels & beach towels are not supplied. If your booking is for more than one week, clean linen & towels will be provided on a weekly basis.

3 night break - 40% off weekly tariff / 4 night break - 30% off weekly tariff / 5 night break - 20% off weekly tariff / 6 night break - 10% off weekly tariff.
Additional Extras:
We offer a range of extra facilities, which are available for hire through our office 'Happy Holiday Homes' in Menaggio: Cot Hire - EU 20 per week, High Chair - EU 15 per week, Push Chair - EU 25 per week, Camp Bed – EU 85 per week, Wi-Fi or USB Internet Stick - EU 35 per week (includes EU 10 consumable credit). Please note that signal and connectivity is not guaranteed and may depend on the strength of the signal in your rental property.
Making a Booking:
To make a confirmed booking, you will be asked to fill in our online booking form and pay a 30% deposit by wire transfer or credit card. The remaining holiday balance will then be due 6 weeks before arrival.

We loved our stay at La Dolce Vita, the apartment was great with a perfect view of the lake, all the amenities were excellent,modern and convenient. Our trips to Bellagio, Menaggio and drive over to Lugano and eventually to Foxtown for some serious shopping for the ladies all were wonderful; i would recommend renting a car in Lecco on the way down, we did this the next day when we realised the inconvenience and distance of getting to and from the ferry each day in Varenna, We did rent the boat for about 4 hrs on the lake which was a lot of fun; also a cooking class that Danilo recommended was a wonderful choice.Did you find this review helpful? Laundry: We’ve been travelling in France and Italy for ~2 months now, and this is the first apt with “Laundry Facilities” that has both a washer AND DRYER. This was a most pleasant surprise, and we think you should tout this in the web ads. TV: This is also the first place with more than BBC in English. The service and screen here are modern enough to be able to menu-switch most movies and shows to English. Bummer, as who want to sit around (finally) watching TV on good weather days on lake Como? Kitchen: Cooking with the stuff in most holiday apartments is just a bit above camping. Doable, but just barely. Here the kitchen is equipped so well that Laura is planning to buy some Le Creuset pans when we get back. Same with the pasta cooker, food processor, etc. Style: This place is so cool that companies should give stuff to showcase, as with the kitchen. We have enjoyed our holiday very much at Lake Como. La dolce vita is an excellent property in a fantastic spot and we would stay there again if ever we were in the same area. It's very modern and spacious. It is very comfortable and we loved the views. It was nifty to be ale to get to fiumelatte train station so quickly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful apartment-- cooking in the gourmet kitchen, relaxing in the modern furniture, enjoying sunsets and the spectacular views of the lake, and walking into town. The property managers were very responsive and helpful. Appreciated the secure, covered parking space, although there are a variety of keys to enter the property. Enjoyed hiking to the castle, and dining at: Villa Cipressi, Vecchia Varenna, Varenna Monamour, Quattropass (we loved the music so much that the waiter gave us the CD!), and taking the ferry to Bellagio for excellent pizza at La Grotta -- fun waiter plus I could watch the pizza being made. Varenna is absolutely charming. We look forward to returning!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

My husband and I loved our time spent in Varenna at the lovely La Dolce Vita. The apt.is very elegant and the location, right on Lake Como, is perfect for beautiful views. We enjoyed walking into Varenna everyday and taling the ferry across the lake to other villages. We especially liked Cernobbio and Bellagio. The food was delicious everywhere we ate, especially the fresh seafood. In Varenna, we especially enjoyed the restaurants at Hotel Du Lac and Villa Cipressi for lunch on their terraces.
