My husband, son & family, and daughter & family really enjoyed our stay here. The view of the river and the sunsets was spectacular! Mike advised us about routes for our sightseeing and added little extras that really made our family vacation memorable. From our granddaughter, age 8 to our grandson, age 15, the four grandchildren really loved the home and the entire trip. Mike was available to help with anything we needed. Our trip included visits to Gettysburg, Hershey, Amish Village, the Round Barn and seeing the beautiful countryside of Lancaster County. The kids and grandkids would have liked to have been able to swim and enjoy the river more, but, all in all, the property was worth it.

Our group of 9 stayed at the Comfortably Numb during our visit to the area for a tennis tournament. The location was great and the river views were beautiful. We found the accommodations to suit or needs perfectly as there was plenty of space to spread out never feeling crowded. We also enjoyed the Accomac Inn which is just down the street from the house. Overall I would recommend the Comfortably Numb for anyone looking for a getaway. The owner was also great to work with.

Our group was not very happy with the home, specifically the cleanliness. The photos definitely show the home in the best possible light, but some are deceptive. For example, there is no "library." It is just two bookcases at the top of the stairs. The stairs are covered up with a rug or photoshopped in on the photo. I won't go on and on, because the owner is a really nice guy. He offered us tubes to use free of charge and wanted to please us. But he simply needs to hire a much more thorough cleaning service. For the price we paid a night plus a cleaning fee, we expected more.
Owner response:"Cleanliness" is in the eye of the beholder. We try to do the best we can with the limited time that sometimes exists between departing and arriving guests, and we do have new members of the cleaning crew this season. I try to personally inspect all properties between guests after cleaning, but when guests request early arrival (as this one did) I sometimes am unable to get to all the houses personally. If we are made aware of shortcomings, they are addressed immediately. I have no record of renting to a Jeanne from Leesburg; perhaps she was a guest with the group from Japan who are on record for that period. Regarding the "library" (and it is italicized in the listing) there was no photoshopping. When I originally listed Comfortably Numb, I envisioned it renting more successfully as a two-unit, and a floor and carpet existed over the interior staircase at that time. (When a group requests less space, the floor is able to be put in place to create a 3-bedroom 1st floor unit and a 2-bedroom 2nd floor unit with library. In either situation, the books are available for guests.) I have found it has much higher demand as a large single 5-bedroom house. It is one of the changes that will be made with the next update. (P.S. There is NO "plus a cleaning fee"; prices as listed on vrbo are all-inclusive, subject only to room taxes.)

We took our grown children and young grandchildren for a short get-away and were delighted to stay at Comfortably Numb. All 17 of us had a terrific time - from babies to grandparents. We had lots of space and were happy with the large, clean accomodations. Thank you for a most memorable stay.

We wanted to join our families for an unforgettable weekend - BOY WERE OUR EXPECTATIONS EXCEEDED! We arrived at night and awoke to an amazing view in front of us. We planned on venturing out but ended up just enjoying each other's company at the house. Thank you so much for your hospitality - we had an amazing time!

Multi-family "vacation" for 2010 New Years, with 5 kids under 4 years old and 5 adults. We all had a blast - would definitely come back in warmer weather to take advantage of the river (and the porch.) We loved that we were seemingly in the middle of nowhere but only a quick drive to "civilisation" which definitely made entertaining the kids easier...

This weekend has been truly unique; one of a kind! Everyone loved it here. The view of the river, the quaintness of the house, and the closeness it has brought our family. Your house was the perfect getaway the Magdinec family needed! Thank you for that! P.S. Floating down the river in tubes and throwing M-80's into the fire = a FANTASTIC family reunion! TRY IT1

...If I had one wish in life, it would be to raise my son at the river and live here happily ever after with my wonderful wife Kimmnie. Spending this week here over my 43rd birthday with my wonderful family and friends was fanatastic. I plan on coming back next year with anyone who wants to come along because there is NOTHING BUT FUN HERE. It was a great week no matter what the weather did and I totally enjoyed myself day and night and can't thank you enough for giving me the opportunity... P.S. If there were more people like you in the world it would be a better place.

Our families had a great time here at Comfortably Numb. The view on your gorgeous porch was breath-taking. Our kids enjoyed fishing, tubing and canoeing. Thank you Mike for going above and beyond with directions and local sightseeing. WE HAD A BLAST! We loved seeing (the town of) Intercourse for the first time. Pennsylvania was great and we will definitely be back. Thanks!

I would say this was one of the most beautiful places we have ever stayed on vacation. It was so tranquil looking out onto the river from our porch. The kids loved tubing, swimming, and watching the spiders catch their prey. There is so much to do nearby. We enjoyed Hershy, Gettysburg, Philadelphia, and I spent a day with the Amish at a benefit auction for their special needs kids. The Amish baked goods were amazing! Loved the walks along the river and grilling dinner on the porch.... Thanks for everything!

Thank you for a great vacation. We had fourteen people and everyone loved the house. We caught about 25 channel cats up to 22 inches on glow worms, hot dogs, and cheese.

Had our pre-Christmas celebration with 7 adults, 2 teens, and 3 children. What a blast! Enjoyed Hershey Park, Christmas Village, and stuffed ourselves at Good & Plenty! What a gorgeous view! We endured the "arctic cold" & dusting of snow too. Being from Virginia Beach this was quite a treat for the children! We loved our accomodations - the house was always a warm, cozy welcome to us. We thought the view was worth a dream of a return visit! Thank you for helping with our wonderful memory! Be Blessed.

We head out tomorrow and our 3-yr old is already protesting leaving this comfortable home with the great deck and awesome sunrises and sunsets. We've enjoyed some of PA too. The guys toured Harley-Davidson, we all went to Hershey's Chocolate World, and we visited Dutch Country (kinda weird going to Intercourse with the grandparents, but got souvenirs & pics.) The birdwatching was enjoyed by all; even got a chance to throw a line in the river. No luck, but the kids liked it. Thanks for the comfy digs. You'll be glad to know Pink Floyd was my first concert at age 7! (Mom will be jealous.)

Thanks so much! We're really glad we found this place - it's great! It was nice to be able to attend world (horse-shoe)competition close by. So far two of us have placed: one got fifty spot; and myself, well, I guess I got lucky - took 1st and got my first world title. We still have two finishing today... Once again, thanks so much.

We had a lovely extended stay. The kids loved the river on a very hot day. It was nicely located between York and Lancaster. I was grateful for such a place while visiting my mother in the nursing home. Thanks!

We can't believe it's time for us to leave this enchanting, peaceful home. We enjoyed watching the many different birds , like the great blue heron, white egrets, Canada geese and the beautiful king fisher. This place is a bird watcher's paradise. We love to ride our bikes passing the many beautiful homes, looking upriver toward the tropical colored sunsets. We would rise early to see the orange glow reflecting off the water... Everyone who came to visit us fell in love with the awesome view. Thank you Mike for your warm hospitality and for providing us with an experience we will never forget. We will surely tell all. P.S. Kayaking over the rapids upriver was so exciting!

We had an outstanding visit. My son is getting married tomorrow and we have all had many errands to attend to. This place has provided a quiet comfort from the hectic pace. There is something about watching nature that is very calming. Wednesday morning, while having a cup of coffee, we were watching a bald eagle dive into the water and grab fish with its talons. This happened several times. Also, the geese and egrets provided a show of sorts with their sights and sounds. We take from here a memory of nature and its calm.

What an honour to be the first Canadians to sign the Guest Book! We had a wonderful time seeing all there was to see in the area - from Gettysburg, to Lancaster County to the Harley-Davidson factory tour... Thank you Mike for the great accomodation. At first we thought it might be too far out but what a quiet and relaxing place. Watching the ducks swim slowly by every morning in the calm river was fun to see... We hope that everyone who comes to the area will enjoy it as much as us.
