THINK CHRISTMAS! Holidays get booked early, so don't miss out--inquire today--we'd love to accommodate you. Also, for your hunters in the family, we're in Section 22, and this makes a beautiful hunting lodge!!

Our Mountain Cabin will welcome you with it's warmth and charm from the moment you enter the door! It's the perfect place for family getaways, corporate retreats, Board meetings, church retreats, honeymoon privacy, family reunions, or just a quiet, peaceful getaway in the cool, clear mountain air. Payson is about 90 minutes from Scottsdale, and the Cabin is about 30 minutes from downtown Payson on mostly paved roads.

We have a horse corral with a separate gate where one could park a horse trailer/boat/RV. Because of family allergies, animals are NOT ALLOWED in the cabin, but you can keep them outside in a portable kennel as long as you clean up after them and they aren't allowed to run free in the neighborhood. Absolutely no cats--severe allergies.

If you're booking for this winter, it would be wise to have 4-wheel drive. We have no central heat in the cabin. You must maintain the fire in the fireplace throughout your visit. Firewood is furnished. We love that about going up in the winter, but we understand that not everyone is as adventurous as we are! There are space heaters available for the bedrooms, and no one has frozen yet nor have they complained about being too cold!

The cabin is far enough from the hustle and bustle, yet close enough to go into town and enjoy many activities in bustling Payson and neighboring Strawberry and Pine. There's always something going on in town--rodeos, arts and crafts festivals, etc., You should visit Payson's official website to see what's happening at the time of year you want to go up. There are lots of tourist attractions within easy driving distance, fishing, hunting, antiquing, shopping, movies, restaurants, casinos, etc., just about anything your heart desires!! The Rim country is beautiful, and the hiking is superb! The beautiful Mogollon Rim is right out the windows!

Here are some comments from recent visitors to our cabin:

" . . .. . everybody pooped Thurs. night, but had s'mores and a fire in the fireplace--we've greatly enjoyed that we were able to use your place to make a memory for our family! We look forward to making this time a traditional one for this special group of loved ones--thank you for being a part of our first annual holiday get together!"

"Hi Diann: Our families very much enjoyed the cabin!! We had a wonderful Thanksgiving and created many lasting memories. The weather was never an issue even though it rained. We heard the loudest thunderbooms ever!! We made jugs and jugs of hot chocolate and talked in front of the fire . . . definitely a very memorable experience and wil recommend the cabin to our friends. Thanks again, our families had a wonderful time and are still talking about the trip!"

. . . thanks for making our anniversary trip such a wonderful time! We love this place--the whole feel of the cabin reflects the Payson area and your family as well. We enjoyed hanging out with the windows open . . . . saw 8-10 elk on the way up--several were calves. Last night was a pretty good storm--lovely just hearing the rain come down hour after hour . . .

" . . . our stay has been wonderful! This is a fabulous cabin location and hideaway! Upon arriving Friday we were blessed with some super thunder claps and a great downpour! We enjoyed a dip and swim in the river, and Sat. night we enjoyed laying out on the porch and looking at more stars than I think we've all EVER SEEN!! My favorite spot is the upstairs green room with it's breezes and views--husband's was the front porch, and the girls liked it all. At first they didn't know what they would do with their time, now they wish we could stay!"

" . . we fell so in love with this trip! Your cabin is beautiful, and the views--WOW! We did so much and had such a blast! We loved every minute here and did not want to leave!"

" . . what a much-needed family retreat we had! We went hiking by the creek, played board games, had a fire and made s'mores, sat out under the stars and all saw the most amazing shooting star--a first for our kids! Fun, fun, fun--thank you for sharing your beautiful, cozy cabin". . .

" . . so enjoyed the peace and tranquility of your mountain oasis. As the electricity went off, we enjoyed the light show from the lightning and the steady beat of the rain from the powerful cloudburst. The fellowship was robust and our time was blessed. We so enjoyed our stay--the hike, the fire, the rainstorm, God's creation!"

" . . thank you for letting us experience a little bit of "heaven" in your beautiful cabin! We had a blast! Lots of fun and relaxing--loved the little bit of snow that came down! God has truly given you a beautiful place full of His handiwork!. . "

The Unique Benefits at this Mountain Cabin

We love the peace and quite and solitude, and usually when we come up, we just want to hide out and relax. Payson is a great little town and has every kind of activity you would want or need. Check out the website for Payson before coming up, because they always have some kinds of festivals or art shows or rodeos or something going on in the area. There are lots of tourist attractions nearby also.

Owner's Map of Payson

The Mullen Family bought their little log cabin in 1987 when the kids were 3, 5, and 9. We loved that little cabin, and spent every minute we could up there. We had three horses at the time, 2 dogs and 1 Grandpa who stayed there during the summer and tended the horses. In June of 1990, The Dude fire raged through Bonita Creek, burning 28,000 acres and killing 6 firefighters--5 were inmates from the Perryvale prison, working for 50 cents an hour, and one was their female supervisor. You'll see a monument to them as you come into our little settlement of Bonita Creek. The place was like a "moonscape" after the fire, and we couldn't imagine rebuilding, but as the years went by, the landscape began to come back, and by 1996, it was time to rebuild!! The "new" cabin is in the same place as the old one was--we now have an "all around view", whereas before, the Ponderosa Pines, Oak, and Manzanita were so thick, you didn't even know there was a view there!! We love our cabin, and feel so blessed that the good Lord allowed us to rebuild it, that we love to share it with others who also enjoy the peace and quiet and the beauty of God's creation.
