We loved staying at this condo for our first vacation to Grand Cayman! We wanted to be one the less commercial side of the island and are glad we booked this condo as it was spring break/Easter week. The beach still felt secluded and most days we had the pool to ourselves. There was a family next door with daughters the same age as ours and the kids had a blast playing in the pool, making sandcastles and playing in the landscaped area where we could keep an eye on them easily while relaxing ourselves. The views from our condo were great! Blue ocean from every window. I was impressed at how clean the condo was upon arrival, and I am picky. The kitchen was very well stocked. The owners gave us great info/tips before arrival which were much appreciated. Rum Point was perfect for our family and Stingray City via Red Sail Sports was great. The only trick was to find fresh seafood on this side of the island. We found that Tukka and restaurant at Rum Point would sell us fresh raw fish that could grill at home. Eating out was great as well, loved Kaibo downstairs restaurant- wonderful atmosphere! Miss it already.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

We actually stayed in November of 2010 and have meant to write a review ever since. We have recommended the Laurelei to friends and relatives. The Laurelei was the perfect place for our family vacation. It was a spacious, beautiful home and the location could not have been better. Rum point was so close and a great place to hang out. There was enough for our teenage daughters to enjoy. We really appreciated being on the less commercial side of the Island. The condo was well equipped and had everything we were promised. The owners could not have been more accomodating when we needed to alter our travel plans due to a cancer diagnosis of one of the family members. They worked with us and we were able to reschedule to a time after treatments and our family could celebrate the end of surgery and chemo. Laurelei will always be a special place for us and we can't wait to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The Laurelei was even better than the pictures showed. We thought it was THE best condo in the complex . It was clean and the bed in the master bedroom was very comfortable. Before we arrived, I thought the kitchen might be a little small, but it ended up working out perfectly. The lanai was very spacious, we enjoyed just sitting out there and watching the water. We were spoiled by having the pool so close to the condo. It was a nice and relaxing pool area, and the pool itself was great. Loved that it had a nice deep end. Thank you, Laurie for taking the time to phone me and answer my many questions and for the excellent info pack. This was our second trip to the island, but our first stay on the North side. We loved how quiet and secluded the Laurelei was, it was very peaceful. We took Laurie's advice and used McCurley's for our car rental. That was a very good choice. They were very professional and friendly and happy to answer any questions we had. It was nice to have them pick us up on our departure day to take us to the airport, and not have to worry about returning the rental car. Red Sail Sports Jet Ski tour (Novolette was our guide) and Stingray city/snorkel excursion ( with Capt. Jimmy) were a lot of fun. Would do both again in a heartbeat! Many choices for dining out...not a bad meal anywhere. Carribean night at Kaibo was fun, as was the dinner show with the Barefoot Man. We would not hesitate to recommend the Laurelei. Thank you again for sharing this gem!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway.

The Laurelei is the best kept secret in the Caymans. It is quiet, beautiful and fully appointed. We made our second trip this year and plan to go back many times. The unit itself is beautifully decorated and has everything you need. It's location it the best for those who want some privacy, but don't want to be to far from some group fun. Rum Point is just a bit away and offers many opportunities. We found ourselves reading, relaxing and sunning by the pool more often than going. On the days we went, it was great to be close to so many opportunities without being on top of the cruise ship crowds.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you so much for your lovely review of The Laurelei. It is our wish that you will return again to the island and enjoy all that the island and The Laurelei offer.

Thank you Chuck and Laurie for your wonderful home. We felt relaxed and well cared for as soon as we arrived. The furnishings, beds and kitchen were exceptional. We have been coming to Cayman since the 70's and this condo rates right up there with the best. We hope to see you next year. "Just wanted to drop you a quick line and comment on our vacation. To sum it up "GREAT!". Charles & Laurie have the best kept secret condo on the island! Your home in Grand Cayman is beautiful. We had a very relaxing time at the Laurelei. The pool is perfect. When you chose this condo, you got the best of the ten available in my opinion. The weather was Caribbean normal (ie. superb!). There were clouds every morning and evening so we didn't get a chance to catch the usually gorgeous sunrise and sunset times. Maybe next time! The weather during the day was picture perfect. I had the privilege to introduce my son (13) to scuba. What a blast. We dove together 5 times. Visibility was down from the normal 100+ feet to just 80 feet. (lol). You can choose your own pace here. Slow and easy to action packed and hectic.. You make the choice. Dining at a restaurant or cooking in the fully equipped kitchen, the choice is yours. Diving is close by. We used Ocean Frontiers. We've been to Grand Cayman 8 times in the past 22 years. Ocean Frontiers is the best dive experience, bar none. Thanks ever so much again for allowing us to share your home!"Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

This was a wonderful vacation home. Everything you could possibly want. The pool was always warm and right at your back door. Because the property has a limited number of condos, most days we were the only ones in the pool. The ocean view is incredible. We would highly recommend The Laurelei. Owner info
Year Purchased: 2000
About the owner: We are private owners of The Laurelei, purchased in 2001 from the original owners. The Laurelei is one of only 4 groundfloor condos with a private deck & back door opening directly onto the beach. 18 feet of sliding glass doors open to gorgeous views of the Caribbean Sea. The complex of 10 units was completely rebuilt with state-of-the-art concrete construction (one of the strongest systems possible) after Hurricane Ivan caused damage in late 2004. We chose luxury upgrades, added custom furnishings, fine bedding & upholstery & linens, along with artistic touches such as original artworks and island sculpture. We take pride in constantly updating our island home and in making it as comfortable and affordable as possible for our happy guests.
Why the Owner Chose Rum Point:
Things we love about our island home. We love the intimacy of a small island and the friendly and safe atmosphere that Grand Cayman offers. The North Side beaches are empty, secluded, with many open seaside areas & exclusive homes on large lots. Being alone with nature and the Sea and most of the time having the beach to ourselves is priceless. Knowing the weather and the Sea are always warm. The sea & sky are ever-changing to different hues of turquoise and cobalt, and one is enveloped in a feeling of peace and relaxation.
The North Pointe complex has a wonderful management, friendly helpful owners, and is the only apartment complex within 2 miles. The Laurelei is fully licensed with the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
Walking a long empty white sand beach in the morning and watching each spectacular sunrise! Euphoric! Breakfast on The Laurelei's private deck! Snorkeling in clear warm waters with colorful sealife and shallow reef just a few yards from shore! Reading a great book under a palm tree! Dining in the candlelit lanai with fresh sea breezes! Floating in perfect turquoise tidal sea pools, breathing pristine air, watching cloud formations & spectacular sunsets. Dining on great local cuisine, and dancing at a local hangout under incredible stars! Traveling every back road and enjoying this safe, friendly island and it's wonderful people!
