  We stayed here for a quick weekend spring skiing trip to Tahoe. Tahoe Donner is such a perfect place for families and young children. We have a young family (4.5 year old son, 1.5 year old daughter) so proximity to the ski slope and a family friendly rental was a must. The description and pictures in this listing were perfect, as were the detailed instructions left for us in the condo for how to operate all the equipment and household appliances. Both bedrooms are very spacious - they are roughly 7 steps up from the main level which was perfect for our needs because we put our children to sleep at night and then had a chance to sit in the living area without disturbing them. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking dinners and has all the necessities you will need. We cooked every meal and there was even tupperware available that we used to store the leftovers for the next day. The condo is exactly as described - it's a family's home away from home - not fancy but more than adequate and the furniture was all comfortable. Unlike another review, we had no problem at all operating the wood furnace, it heated the living area well and made it very cozy. The best part is that this condo is literally steps from the downhill ski area - this enabled my spouse and baby daughter to come visit with us on the ski slope and easily walk home afterwards for her afternoon nap. It was so nice and easy to just walk to the ski area - we even walked home for a nice relaxing lunch before heading back out for more skiing in the afternoon. Thanks for a fun weekend!!

  My family stayed here recently. This is our second visit to the condo. It is homey and comfortable. We have two kids and found the condo to be very kid friendly and the owners easy to work with! We have stayed in both the summer and winter and it has great amenities. The condo is located just a few feet away from the Tahoe-Donner ski area, which is a great little ski resort with a great ski program. The condo is also steps away from the clubhouse which has a BBQ area, pool, hot tub (indoors which can be used in the winter), pool table, ping pong table, etc. We will definitely be back! Thanks for a great stay David!

  We had a great stay at this condo. The location was perfect...short walk to the lodge, with a shuttle that picks up at the front door. Ski hill was perfect for kids. Beautiful surroundings. Condo was very comfortable, exactly as described. Owner was extremely responsive and helpful in answering questions. Great value for the price! Will definitely plan a vacation here next year.

  Good things: Adjacent to Tahoe Donner Alpine Ski Bowl. Pretty clean. One-car garage. Not so good: Heating, both electrical and wood-burning stove, is barely enough to warm up the condo. The stove is supposedly "eco-friendly", which seems to mean that once you get the fire really started, it will still go out half the time if left unattended, with the log 20% or so consumed, or will be burning at a low intensity for hours with barely any heating impact. No firestarter is provided and Duraflame is not allowed; you have to chop up your own kindling each time. TV - hard to believe, but there is no reception, cable, satellite or otherwise. There is library of about 30 DVDs and 20 VHS tapes, but most of those will be kids' movies or stuff you have seen already. Therefore, bring some on your own. Other: WiFi password did not work; you have to bring your own sheets and towels; even though you're paying a significant cleaning fee, you are still expected to sweep up afterward. Overall: It's a nice place to stay, especially for no longer than 4-5 days, and most of the "not so good things" listed above could be overlooked if the rate were not as high as for any other Tahoe Donner condo of comparable size. Too much, in my honest opinion.

  Owner response: We are sorry that your stay did not meet your expectations. We strive to be as honest about our home and it's amenities as possible. To help guide future renters, we would like to address some of the concerns raised in this review. First, we fully disclose that we do NOT have cable or satellite on our TV. Also, our condo is a kid-friendly home, so our DVD collection is mostly kid and family oriented. For wifi, we do NOT have wifi at our home. The condo association maintains a wifi connection and we provide the password, but we can not guarantee it's connectivity, and so do not list is as an official amenity. As to our environmental fireplace, it is true that the fire burns at low intensity to save wood. But if the fan is used properly, it gives off good heat. We will improve our instructions for how to use the fireplace, and also make sure enough kindling is stocked at the home. Finally, we fully disclose upfront that you need to bring your own sheets and towels, and we ask people to sweep as a mere courtesy. We do the same in homes we visit even when we pay a cleaning fee. Finally, we stand by our rates as in line with other rental untits in the area. Above all, we urge future renters to read our listing carefully. This is our vaation home, not a full-time rental, so you definitely will not get a 5-star cabin if you rent our place, but we do strive to make it warm and inviting. Thanks again for your feedback!

  We stayed at the condo for a long weekend. It was the perfect size and had all of the amenities that we needed. All in all a great trip!

Cancellation policy:

We want your stay to be as great as possible. For that reason, please read the entire rental agreement carefully, and note the following important points: 1) Absolutely NO SMOKING in the unit and NO PETS, no exceptions without permission from the owner. Violation of these rules will subject you to additional cleaning fees. 2) You provide your own sheets and towels. We have two queen beds and one queen futon. There are pillows and comforters in the unit, and a washing machine and dryer. 3) There is no cable TV or wifi in the unit. There is wifi from the condo association, but we cannot guarantee access. Wifi access in the mountains is tricky! Have a great time!
