Wow, absolutely loved this home. It was the perfect place for us and it had all the amenities and comforts of home you could ask for - proximity to the ocean and downtown, surround sound in every room, fireplaces, beautiful kitchen, hot tub... we can hardly wait to go back! Really enjoyed the rental in Pacific Grove. Had never done a VRBO before, would definitely rent again. Pictures and descriptions are accurate. Great location. Walk out the door, turn right, Pacific Ocean is 1 1/2 blocks. Turn left, Lighthouse Ave (shops, restaurants, cafes) is 1 1/2 blocks. When we arrived, the Property Manager met us at the house and walked us through the details (heat, spa, lighting, TV, etc). Also received a big bowl of snacks (pop corn, chips, salsa) and chilled bottle of local wine. I was worried about parking, but parked on the street the entire week, no problem. Neighborhood is great, very quiet. On Monday afternoons, the local farmers market is about 3 blocks away. Picked up dinner right there. Not advertised on the site, but on the back patio, the little table in front of the fire place doubles as an ice chest! This place has it all.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

This house is fantastic! The location can't be beat. You can walk to the beach or the main street in Pacific Grove or rent a bike at Lover's Point and have a short ride to Monterey and Cannery Row. My friend & I were able to spend the days exploring the beautiful Northern California coast or the wine country in Carmel (about 15-20 mind drive) and relax by the fire in the back yard at night. I think that was my favorite part of the house. I had an amazingly fun and relaxing time during my stay at this house. I can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was the perfect place for my husband and I to relax and enjoy all of the wonderful things The Peninsula has to offer. We just returned from a 4-night stay in this amazing rental in the heart of Pacific Grove. The house is so quaint and has been totally updated. The kitchen had everything we needed. We loved the steam shower, the hot tub and the outdoor fireplace. It was pretty chilly while we were there so we curled up in the loft space at night and watched tv and played games. There's even an outdoor upstairs patio that was perfect for stargazing. We love our Star Walk App and don't get to use it in Dallas. The sound system throughout the house is a bonus. We popped in our iphone and could individually pick which rooms the music played in. The house has an open floor plan and has wonderful light all day. We have a 7 year old and he loved being so close to the beach. My husband and I loved being so close to the coffee shops and restaurants. I was blown away by the quality of food we had while in PG. So many options! Margaret was very quick to respond when we had a question and she always followed up to make sure everything was alright. We would love to return to PG in the near future. We have been taking one-week family vacations in Pacific Grove for 27 years. This year my wife and I decided to spend a month getting to know the area more as locals. This house was the key piece that made our time there absolutely fantastic. Two blocks to Lovers Point; two blocks to restaurants and shops in downtown Pacific Grove, two blocks to the weekly Pacific Grove Farmers' Market. We easily walked everywhere from Cannery Row to the Monterey Fisherman's Wharf to lunch at Spanish Bay. The house is in a very quaint area of 100 year-old Pacific Grove homes, but has been completely updated and modernized inside. The pictures in the VRBO add were accurate in every respect. The house has state-of-the-art electronics and kitchen appliances, a great steam shower and a wonderful back deck with gas fireplace, gas grill and hot tub. Everything was very clean and well-organized, right down to the extra bed linen. I would definitely recommend this rental to friends and family and will plan to go there again next year and hopefully for many years to come.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

The property is great - clean, well maintained and equipped, had everything we needed including free wireless internet. Margaret, the owner was fantastic. . Everything was easy, nothing was a problem and the location could not be better! A block to lover's point and the wonderful walking path along the Monterey Bay and in the other direction right in the middle of downtown- 2 minutes to coffee, great restaurants and even a very quaint movie theatre. The home is beautiful, comfortable, and very well-appointed. It gets a lot of natural light and, with the doors open to the patio has a great indoor- outdoor feel to it. My family (me, my wife, and our 4yo) had the privilege of staying at this place this summer. The location and accommodation is simply.... ridiculous. As much as we enjoyed the house and the back patio, we equally were spoiled by being able walk everywhere! My 4yo had a blast going to the beach and then to the aquarium (we are now members). And when we needed to mix it up, Carmel and the 17 mile drive were just a quick car ride away. I can see our family making a habit out of staying at this place. My daughter is a little too young to appreciate hikes, but maybe in a year or so if the owner (who was extremely responsive to all my little questions) will let us stay again (even if the family gets bigger)!Owner response: We hope you come back! My daughter, two friends, and I were in Pacific Grove for a triathlon event in September. We wanted a house so we could be together, and also have more control over the athlete's diet and nutrition needs. We found the house on VRBO and it looked perfect. Margaret, the owner, was so easy to deal with and helpful, and always very quick to respond - even when I lost her email with all the important information, and phone numbers. From our first conversation I knew she'd be great. The house was exactly as it appears in the photos. It was modern, clean, the perfect setup, all appliances in good working order and they even had a welcome basket of goodies waiting for us. The property manager was waiting for us to arrive, and gave us a quick tour and tutorial for working remotes, hot tubs, fireplaces, ipod docks, etc. There are two bedrooms downstairs, a beautiful kitchen and dining area, with doors opening to the deck, fireplace, bbq and hot tub outside. There is also a washer/dryer set up, which came in very handy. There is no off-street parking, but that wasn't a problem even with the huge event happening just blocks away. We were able to park in front of the house and walk to the race, downtown, the market, just about anywhere we wanted to go. The morning of the tri event, it was a perfect location as we had three athletes with us ... each with a start time an hour apart! Another huge benefit of this place is the quaint neighborhood and how quiet is was. Even with thousands of people in town, we never heard any of the noise you would find in a hotel setting. We did meet one neighbor walking her dog one morning, but other than that it was like we had the entire street to ourselves. We walked downtown, to the bank, coffee shop, market - just wish we would have had more opportunity for shopping and more strolling the area. Can't recommend this place enough. So much that one of our guests was planning a trip to Cabo, but after staying with us this weekend decided she'd rather rent this house and enjoy all of Pacific Grove. Bring her bike, ride the coastal route, rent a kayak, and enjoy some of the local restaurants. Great house. Great owner. Great property manager. Great location. Can't wait to come back.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The house was nice with a well thought design. The big problem was lack of cleanliness and bed bugs especially in the master bed. Karl left with multiple bed bug bites on legs, back of arms and back. Since Fin had 3 bites on the back of neck and side face on the first night in the guest bed, she bought her own pillow, pillow protectors and pillow cases the next day. We spent the first two days cleaning the kitchen, the towels, and bed linens along with the help of the new housekeeper. At night, spiders can be seen all over the house and Fin spent almost every night killing them. Some of those small spiders literally falling from the kitchen ceilling and lights over the kitchen counter. One night one fell on Karl's head and he had to catch it from his face. We ended up not using the steam shower because when we turned it on, it set off the smoke alarm. The shower faucet in the guest bathroom is inverted - the H is actually cold water and C is warm water. A note on the wall should have been thoughtful. There is mold on the grout in both bathrooms. We found that there are 4 layers of bed covers in the master bed and 1 bed cover in the guest room, all not washed/cleaned before we arrived. Fresh linens were just put on top. Human hair and small black (probably dead bed bugs) things were on them. The guest room bed linen was new but there was a white stain that stayed on even after wash. The coffee maker was just rinsed and had a layer of old coffee. The dish washer had layers of too much detergent. So we had to clean them first as well as the dishes and pots which we used to cook our breakfast. Fin had to clean the dryer of old lint. Someone left the dryer on with towels when we check in at around 4 p.m. All the throw pillows and chairs were dusty. Chyneen, the house keeper took some pictures in the bed and falling spider, etc. Margaret said that she left a bottle of wine in the wine cooler but it was empty. There was a used/old Margarita in the refrigerator which Chyeen took out. The house amenities such as kitchen appliances and utensils, home theater, hot tub, fireplaces, outdoor barbecue grill, and TVs were great. Frank, Rick and Chyneen who we were told Margaret hired to take care of the property before we arrived are commended for responding the next day after the cleanliness complain.Owner response: This review is simply untrue and meant to be damaging. We worked very hard to make these guests happy and were ultimately unsuccessful. Please see reviews left by other guests for a more accurate description of the home.
