Charming, central location

We stayed at this apartment during the Carnaval.It was great, the apartment was charming, clean and in a fantastic location, close to everything. Judit met us and was very helpful, showing us nearby restaurants and shops on the map, along with a programme of the events and concerts taking place during that week. The view of the Scala del Bovolo was beautiful, and the tourists visiting in front of the apartment was not a problem-with the windows closed they cannot see in and it was quiet at night. When we come back to Venice, we would stay here again without hesitation!

Good location but lacking basic creature comforts

Judit was away when we arrived, so her friend met us. My main complaint was that there was no place to either put our suitcases or to put clothes. We travel light with only carry-on luggage. There are 4 or so hooks on the walls in each bedroom. I travel light, but I still needed a place to put my one small suitcase. I had to bring one of the 4 dining room chairs into my room, the larger room. My friend who had the smaller room had only a tiny bench on which to put her clothes, and a tiny cupboard which also houses the heating system. We had no heat for the first 24 hours. Someone was sent and it was fixed. We also had no hot water on the second day. Someone was sent to fix this. There were about 5-6 hangers in the entire apartment. Judit's helper brought over hangers so that we could put at least hang our clothes from the hooks on the walls. We are not backpackers. We had opera tickets the second night in Venice and were unable to shower for lack of hot water. The location was great and easy to get to vaporetto stops and to all locations. The property had a few places where there were chunks of plaster missing. A+ for location and quiet. C- for the most basic amenities.

Owner response:there is a 6 door armoire in entry hall to provide luggage storage and hang all sort of clothes for a whole family. The guests called twice to advise the hair drier and hot water did not work. In both cases we went there and showed them that both functioned fine.

We stayed here for three nights in mid-September. The accommodation was clean and as advertised, price-wise and in all ways. Judit, the liaison, met us as scheduled and was extremely helpful in making restaurant, etc., recommendations. Among her helpful advice was not to take the water taxis but to rather walk always. I have to say this was so important and even though I'd been to Venice previously, this trip was far better for eschewing the water taxis. She also had made reservations per my request at my favorite restaurant for the three nights in Venice so that we did not have to fuss with trying to communicate with the restaurant ourselves in advance. That was invaluable to us. We appreciated the large towels, clean, crisp bedding, and excellent location. We were a couple in our 40s and found it to be extremely helpful that there were two full bathrooms as well as the clothes washer which we used several times. The tourists at the nearby attraction were not at all an issue. We feel strongly that the review previous to ours was grossly unfair and inaccurate. People who bring extra people should be heavily fined; they are lucky they only had to pay a nominal fee extra. Frankly, if I were the owner, I would be inclined to turn away people who lied. In summary, all the charges made were false as evidenced by the fact that I am extremely demanding cleanliness-wise and otherwise and this apartment was quite acceptable by my standards. My husband and I plan on returning to Venice in the future and staying at this accommodation again.

Central location is good, but several problems with this place. 1. The owner did a bait and switch on the unit price per night when we arrived. Not cool. 2. The floor was permanently dirty in this unit. I would not want to walk there without shoes or slippers. 3. The pictures make the unit look better than it really is. 4. People gather outside the unit at ALL HOURS of the day and NIGHT to view the Scala monument right outside. I mean they are right in front of the unit and you can hear them loudly through the paper thin walls. 5. The unit is hidden away in some back alleyway warrens that aren't very picturesque or clean.

Owner response:sorry to see this unfair report. 1- RATE : quote was requested for 2 adults and one child ; group showed up as 5 people so we asked 50 usd for extra cleaning. 2-Floor and all apartment is cleaned thoroughly at each rental , as was showed at check in. 3-Pictures are exact reproduction of apartment, as other reviews testimony. Restoration takes place every year to keep place fresh and clean. 4- Most people and previous renters enjoyed the location and the great view of the fabulous Scala del Bovolo landmark building ;double glass windows secure from views and seal from possible noise of tourist if kept closed.

First the good news. AC was great and the property was very centerally located to Rialto, museums and San Marcos. Now the bad news. 1) Hot water was a problem....had no hot water for first 24 hours. We call landlord and he came over and messed with the bolier and said it was fixed. Tried to use it and it did not work. He came over again and told me to turn it off and back on. That seemed to work for one night, but then not the next morning. My kids and I had 1 hot shower and my poor wife suffered through 2 very cold showers. 2) WIFI was weak. I couldn't hold a connection for more than a few minutes and then it would take up to 15 minutes to reconnect. Not sure why. I notified the owner of my disspointment and she responded that she was sorry for the inconveniences but tested the water and WIFI the next day and found no issues. 3) Pictures make the apartment's condition look a bit better than it really is.

Owner response:We are sorry about problems you experienced. We never had any of the inconveniances you listed, before or after your staying. Other review listed just few days after your stay, is a happy one. We came to the apartment each time you called for help and showed you how to use hot water, sorry you could not operate it on your own. Internet also works fine, never had any complain before or after.

I stayed here the second week of july 2011 with my mother, grandmother and my 2 daughters ages 1 & 8. What a great apartment! It is exactly how it appears in the pictures. Everything seems so open and clean because everything is sleekly tucked away. We had the windows open all the time so we could enjoy the view of the scala. There are many visitors that come to look at the sight but it isnt bothersome what so ever. The glass offers privacy so nobody can peek in when you have the windows closed. Also, nobody comes at night. This apartment is tucked into one of the many corridors that make up venezia, but just a quick walk to the rialto bridge. And trust me, we overpacked and were lugging big suitcases and a baby in a stroller :) everything is within walking distance. The owners friend met us because the owner was out of town, but what a great guy. Everything went extremely well. I would highly recommend staying here and i would love to go back! Thanks for a pleasant stay!

was all that we expected and more

The apartment was all that we expected and more. Our grand daughter, Allison, age 13, was very pleased with her bedroom and bath and we found the master bedroom and bath to be very comfortable. The kitchen was perfect for morning coffee and even a meal or two during the week. The location was perfect- close to Campo San Luca, St. Mark's, and Rialto bridge. We bought the vaporetto passes and used them many times to get around easily. It was even fun watching the tour groups visit Scala Del Bovolo as we sat inside enjoying the comforts of home! We liked being able to get into the city easily but also have the quietness of the neighborhood in the evening. We bought wine, cheese, crackers, and breakfast rolls in the nearby shops while we also enjoyed the nearby restaurants. Venice remains one of our favorite cities and staying in your apartment made this visit very special. Thank you so very much!

Loved Venice!

We absolutely loved Venice and this apartment was so well situated that we could not have asked for anything better. Judit met us at the Rialto Bridge and within 5 minutes we were standing in the apartment. Short walk to Piazza San Marco and many restaurants and shops are nearby. Judit recommended restaurants that were terrific, and gave us guidance on how much we should negotiate for our gondola ride. Getting lost in friendly and safe neighborhoods is part of the Venice experience, so having the apartment near both San Marco and the Rialto Bridge gave us plenty of landmarks to help us find our way. We would highly recommend this terrific apartment both for the apartment itself but also the fabulous location...and don't forget to visit Murano and Burano as both are picturesque places to visit. Can't wait to return to Venice and when we do, we'll stay in this same apartment! Was perfect! Thanks, Judit!

My wife and I stayed here from the 30th April to the 6th May 2011 and loved it. It is well located close to St. Mark's Square and the Rialto Bridge. Being located next to the Scala Contarini del Bovolo was a bonus and the tourist traffic was not a problem but actually added to the experience. It is a well appointed place to stay and well worth the booking.

The appartement is quite excellent. We were there in carneval 2011 as family with two youths (14 and 17 years). We all enjoed the Internet connection, felt well-considered and safe. The place is very central nevertheless quiet at night. We were very contented with the choice of this flat. The whole contact was organised very well by Judit. Our daughter liked the small room, our son felt good in the big living room. Two bathrooms were optimal. Baker, butcher and tavern near by. The whole family was perfectly happy. That's holiday. Die Etagenwohnung im Erdgeschoss ist absolut hervorragend. Wir waren an Karneval 2011 als Familie mit zwei Jugendlichen (14 und 17 Jahren) zu Besuch. Wir waren alle froh über den Internetanschluss, unser Laptop hatten wir dabei. Wir fühlten uns sehr gut aufgehoben und sicher. Der Ort ist sehr zentral und trotzdem ruhig in der Nacht. Wir waren sehr zufrieden mit der Wahl dieses Apartments. Der komplette Kontakt war sehr gut über Judit organisiert. Unsere Tochter hat sich im kleinen Zimmer sehr wohl gefühlt unser Sohn fand das geräumige Wohnzimmer für sich ebenso gut. Wir Eltern hatten das schöne Schlafzimmer direkt mit Badezimmer. Zwei Badezimmer waren optimal. In unmittelbarer Nähe findet man einen ganz tollen Bäcker, eine Metzgerei und eine urige Taverne. Alles in allem haben wir uns wirklich sehr wohl gefühlt. So sollten Ferien immer sein.

Excellent centrally located apartment

My wife and I and our two small children stayed here for 3 nights in oct 2010. We were very satisfied with the apartment. It is very centrally located; In 5 minutes you can be in Rialto or Piazza San Marco (for a short cut when you come out of your alley go right and not left). There are some good grocey and other shops just over the bridge from the main campi. You are right in front of a historic staircase that draws tourists all day - but we did not find it too noisy as most don't stay very long. It actually helped my wife feel more secure at night! The apartment is clean and spacious - and you can set your own heat ! Judit (the property manager) was helpful and very nice - and so was her friend who helped us get to the place. The only negative thing was that the second bedroom is very small and our 5 year old found it a bit scary so did not want to sleep there ! Also you are on the main floor, so do not expect sunlight. For that you have to go outside (why would you want to be indoors in Venice anyhow?!!). Overall, we highly recommend this apartment. Our stay was made much more enjoyable because of it.

Great Rental Experience

Thank you Stefano and Judit, My adult daughter and I stayed here for 3 nights in October. The apartment was immaculate, modern, well equiped and centrally located. Above all it was peaceful and quiet. We really appreciated the washer and the large rack for hanging our laundry, as we arrived on day 8 of our holiday. Judit, our contact, was easy to deal with and very helpful. She provided us with her Mobile phone # in case of problems. Kathy and I especially enjoyed talking to tourists outside our open, but security grated windows. They were observing the Scala de Bovolo while we were inside enjoying a glass of wine and snacking and observing them. So many people turned and chatted with us. It was quite a remarkable experience. Our visit to Venice was greatly enhanced by the comfort and spaciousness of this property. Do not hesitate to rent this apartment, you will not be disappointed. .
