This is a typical 19th Century, two bedrooms Manhattan "Rail Road" apartment converted into a one bedroom with a dining room and a living room. It is spacious (certainly by Manhattan standards) at 670 square feet (62 meter square) and occupies half of the floor of the building. It's bigger than most rentals, better equipped, warm, bright, spotless, well located, well reviewed and extremely well priced.
The entry to the apartment is via the living room. The room has a pull-out couch and an armchair. There is a TV with full Cable and a small stereo as well as a DVD player with some movies. There is also a work station with a desk top computer connected to high speed Road Runner internet,a 1950's rotary phone and a digital wireless phone with unlimited calls to anywhere including international. There is an answering machine.
The living room leads into the dining room, which has a table that comfortably seats 4. The walls of the room are lined with wine glasses as well as maps.
Then there is a fully equipped kitchen in the next room that you reach as you proceed towards the back of the building. The kitchen has all of the necessary utensils. There is a new fridge, stove, oven and microwave oven, espresso maker, French press, pots and pans, tea pot...ect...
The newly re-done bedroom is about 150 square feet and its window faces the garden, not the street, so it's very quiet. The shape of the room is not a perfect rectangle but has a portion r)in the back, which leads to a window. The room has a new queen size bed (purchased this year) in the main part and hanging racks in the section leading to the window.
The bathroom is off the kitchen. It has a full bath tub/shower and a sink with mirror. The window and the ceiling light fixture brightly light the room.
The apartment has access to a common garden in the back of the property equipped with a brick BBQ and is shared by all the neighbors.
There are hundreds of hip and affordable restaurants and bars in the East Village and it is indeed one of the (if not the) coolest part of town and a real New York community. Tompkins Square Park is a 100 yards from the apartment. The L Train stops 2 block away and the M14 bus is one block away and takes you to Union Square, and from there anywhere in Manhattan in about 20 minutes.
