What a great time we had! The retreat was perfect for four little boys who needed to run and play. The fact that I used to run and play here when I was a little girl made a full circle of family & community. I was always happy at the young's house and this trip with my family was no different.

What a wonderful time we all had here at the farmhouse. It is so nice to go on vacation and not have to spend a small fortune on going out. Having a nice big kitchen & our own bedrooms helped to keep the children on schedule. Also being so close to the beach and parks for playing. The backyard was great for kite flying and drive for bicycle practice. All in all it was a fun filled and comfortable week.

I cannot tell you how wonderful it was to bring our Marine to this home to relax after 7 months in Afghanistan. We all loved it! Your thoughtful decorating and care in all the little detainls makes this the perfect vacation spot. Where my son, a Marine in the 2nd Tank Battalion told us he could not make it back to PA for Christmas we thought it best to come to him instead. The farmhouse made the holidays away feel like home. It's so cozy and quite just like home. At this time next year my son will be stationed in Afghanistan. Being able to stay here will be a Christmas we will never forget. Thank you so much for making your home so cherry for the holidays. On the Christmas tree you will find three new ornaments to express our thank yous. We came to writeand talk and boy did we ever! This turned out to be a perfect place for us. Thank you, Dee. What I loved best: my red room, the toasty wqaarm and comfy house, the kitchen where we talked long and hard and ate ourseles silly, Swansboro, the geese in the bathroom window! JO I enjoyed the peace & quietness that your house provided and spent my days sitting in the rocking chair in the front left bedroom. It was great to write and have the sun move in the sky across the farmland each day. Loved stella & our mama's house. Catherine Dee, I felt like I was back home in my house in Pembroke. It's pleasant and sunny here- Just the right place for me to stir up memories of my childhood. Jo, Catherine, and I had a true writer's retreat. This week will be a lifelong memory for us all. Deloria, the house was perfect for Thanksgiving dinner with our extended family. There were over 30 here for dinnr and the house & carport area was full! The Retreat farmhouse is just what was needed after our son's surgery to get away from Raleigh to come to stay with his children and of course his wonderful, lovely sister that makes all great vacations worth while. The history of the farmhouse and the beautiful scenry has been great. We truly enjoyed our stay. Our granddaughter enjoyed her birthday party too. This is a wonderfully warm and comfortable home and the perfect retreat for our family before our son's wedding. It made the perfect setting for our family to bond with our son's bride's family. Deloria, I wanted to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay at John & Lucille's Country Retreat during Mom's 94th birthday this past April. All of us, but especially Mom appreciated the hospitality and delightful personal touches, which helped to make Mom's 94th birthday memorable. The birthday card you'd left for Mom touched all of us. Your attention to detail in every area of your retreat was a shinning example of how a rental home should be. You made our time with Mom not only enjoybale but gave us all the comforts of home. I also wanted to thank you for referring us to Mrs. Vingerber's Sweets for Mom's birthday cake. We had all been trying to come up with a way to surprise Mom with a cake while we weren't at home. The wonderful strawberry shortcake we ordered had the flavor of one that Mom used to bake for us when we were small and was artuflly decorated.
