Embden is an excellent location for fun! It is located North to South between Belgrade Lakes Region and Sugar Loaf Mountain. It's East to West between Rangley and Moosehead lakes. It has four ponds including Embden Pond which is stocked with Salmon as well as the Carrabassett River on the West and the Kennebec River on the East side. Wyman and Hancock Ponds are nearby. Public boat ramps and swimming dot the area.
Sandy Pond is a great place to appreciate the tranquility of Central Maine. Many times we have been the only boater on the pond. It is over a mile long and over 3/4 mile wide at it's longest points. The fishing, boating and swimming are magnificent. It is stocked by the state of Maine with Brown trout. Public access is limited to Sandy Pond through the Fahi Pond outlet only. There is no formal boat ramp.
The property is nestled on 18 acres of Maine woodlands shared with only one other house. It has about 1300 feet of frontage on Sandy Pond much is resource protection. The rental includes use of a 16 foot dock for swimming, boating and fishing purposes.
Please note there is not a swimming beach area. We have not cleared out a swimming area near the shore. We take a small boat from the dock out to a swim raft that we anchor offshore.

The house can be reduced in size during non-holiday winter weeks.

Why the Owner Chose Embden
This is the place where the mountains meet the lakes. Minutes from one of "America's Scenic Highway" roads. Waterfalls, moose, fishing, ATV and snowmobile trails connected to Maine's ITS system. These can take you almost anywhere off road.
The Unique Benefits of this House
Peacful and private. Year round house is on 18+ acres shared with one other house. The pond has a limit of 10 HP motors so you will not have the constant noise of watercraft. If you do not like the wake call of the Loons then you may not like it here.
