My wife and I piked this place to spend our 25 wedding anniversary; and did we ever pick a GREAT place! Our first impressions: WOW!! Are we going to have a great week! Lasting impressions: It had everything advertised; clean, great decor, fantastic view, ocean at our front door, close to Farmers Market and regular grocery store, short drive (6 miles) to town, snorkeling gear, conch shell for sunset ritual (neighbors stand in a line by ocean as sun sets and all blow their conch shells) and same friendly neighbors invited us to weekly Friday night 'pu pus' (appetizers) party. We saw turtles within 10 feet of seawall, saw whales and snorkeled with fish and turtles in front of our condo.

The condo, functionality, layout, cleanliness and location was just great. It was well stocked, conviently located plus it was very clean and comfortable. We had excellent communication with the owner prior to booking and after we booked the service and responsiveness of the local manager was excellent and very helpful in selecting activities. Front Street is only a few miles away and the high spot for restaurants and shopping. We celebrated our anniversary and birthdays during our stay and we couldn't of asked for anything more. Beautiful. And, the whales outside early morning as we were sipping coffee -- PRICELESS.

What a stay!

The place was very clean inside and out. It was quiet yet very busy, as we were having dinner, the whales were jumping in front of us and the sea turtles were feeding themselves on the reef. The view of the ocean and the two islands in front is amazing. If you wish to see nice sunset's, it's the perfect place, directly from your patio. We also enjoyed the blow shell singning tradittion at sunset. We had a ball. Feel comfortable to book with them, we will again in the near future.

Very nice Condo, well stocked , very clean. Pictures are very accurate to what this condo and location are like. Nice and quiet atsmophere with friendly people. We like watching the Whales and Sea turtles and snorkeling. Condo is close to shops and restaurants , I would recomend this condo. Thank you John for sharing your condo with us again. We had a wonderful winter escape at the Kulakane condo. Beautiful and quiet setting, complete with sea turtles and whales! The condo and building grounds are very well maintained and having the lanai to watch sunsets was the icing on the cake. All of the neighbours were also very friendly. We would highly recommend this unit!!

Relax and listen to the ocean

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the condo. It is very clean and had all everything that you need. The property is very well maintained. Relax, listen to the waves, watch the turtles and whales, paradise. The farmers market is just down the street and a great place to buy your fruit and veggies. Try the 5 Palms (formerly Canoe) and the Sea House for happy hour. Star Noodle great food but get there early. Also enjoyed Java Jazz which is very close. You can't help but have great time.

What's better than a picture-perfect view of the Maui sunset? The fact that you are literally steps away from the beach! I loved making my own mai-tais in the well-stocked kitchen and sitting on the ledge inches from the waves. John and Leslie's condo was heaven for 8 days for my teenage daughter and I. I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to be close to the lovely beaches, restaurants and shopping on Maui. The condo has everything you need and is very comfortable for two or three people. John and Leslie's condo is ideal in a perfectly located property. There is a certain quality of peace and tranquility here not found in many other places. This last stay was our sixth at Kulakane and this is our favorite condo. We are Maui lovers and have been here many times and stayed at many places and this is the best if you are looking for low key with a spirit of aloha.

You can't find a more peaceful atmosphere. Quiet, secure, and the most friendly guest neighbors. This has been my third return trip and I truly enjoy my downtime here at this condo. We had the best trip ever at this lovely condo. The setting could not had been more perfect. Everything we needed was at the unit, the snorkling equipment, the sand chairs, the ice chest and beach towels, what else is needed in Maui besides a few Coronas? Seriously the condo was very comfortable and had a quiet setting with an everday visitor at the oceans edge just steps away from the unit, the neighborhood sea turtle. The nice thing is it is so close to everything and yet just far enough of 10 minutes to all the big town needs. Absolute perfect location! We will be back for sure.

This condo was absolutely perfect! My husband and I stayed for 8 nights and we enjoyed every minute of it! It was in great shape! Perfect location and absolutely gorgeous views!! There were so many turtles out front all day and all evening! Snorkeling was also great there and was shallow enough past 70 yards! We wouldn't have had to bring anything also! It was fully equipped with everything we needed and much more! Perfect location for me to go for a run every monrning also along the many other condos. The condo was excellent, it was just as shown in the pictures, the views from the lanai were amazing especially watching the sunset. It was our first time in Maui and we enjoyed coming home to the condo and relaxing out on the lanai. The location was perfect, close to the beach, small shops & cafes and we had the opportunity to catch the farmer's market and buy fresh fruits & vegetables. The condo was about a 10 minute drive into Lahaina and other beaches were within range. We would definitely come back to this condo for future visits to Maui and would recommend this condo to our family and friends. Thanks!

Great place, Great location, Noisy neighbors

Myself and my traveling partners spent 9 days here in April.(one night in Hana) Beautiful place inside and out. Just like the pictuers. Leslie the caretaker keeps up the gounds nicely. Geat grill setup. The unit was very comfortable and well equipped. Even the fold out couch was comfy! Great location. Bad Ass coffee a short walk away. Local fish market too, but overpriced. Found much better prices on fresh fish at Lahaina Safeway. Quick drives to Lahaina and Kapalua and Honolua bay area. Whales and turtles right out front. Popped up to the Nakalele Blowhole trailhead a few times to watch the sunrise. Amazingly peaceful-more whales there too. Only real downer here were the residents in unit/lanai to the North. Dinner/wine parties about every evening with obnoxiously loud talking and laughing. It really distracted from the peacefulness of the whole area, and since everybody has their units all open to the breeze, they might as well been out on our lanai. Sure, it is their right, but we found it very inconsiderate. At least they went to bed early.

We had the best time on our trip!!!!!!!!!!!! We just loved the Kulakane--it was our kind of place. We saw lots of turtles and whales--got some great pictures of each. The neighbors were so friendly, and we enjoyed visiting with them! I found some small shells on the beach, and it was so relaxing to sit by the pool and listen to the waves hitting the rock wall. We went snorkeling twice at Honolua Bay and even had a very close encounter with a sea turtle there. Our trip just couldn't have been much better! (It snowed at home the entire time we were gone.) We loved the condo--it had everything we needed. Having the farmer's market a couple of blocks away was a real treat! Thanks for sharing your little piece of heaven with us. We would love to go back sometime soon!! Mahalo!

We stayed in this condo for 10 days and never wanted to leave. We will definitely be coming back to stay again! The photos do not do the condo justice!! And the grounds were immaculate!! We loved being on the ground floor. A few steps every morning and evening and we could watch the turtles feed and play and the sun set in the evening. Everything you need for a fun day at the beach to whale watching you will probably find in this condo. How convenient!! And the surrounding neighborhood is very well maintained and close to everything. Thank you so much John and Leslie for allowing us to share your beautiful condo and for working with us to make sure our stay came together seamlessly. It made our vacation so much more enjoyable. As soon as we walked through the front door my wife and I knew that we would be booking another stay here at the Kulakane. Leslie (site manager) was a pleasure to talk with every morning. We stayed at the condo for 2 1/2 weeks! LOVED it! Everything was clean and well stocked. Waking up and seeing that oceanfront every morning was breath taking...and those sunsets, WOW!... You can walk right out to the beach to snorkel and swim with the turtles. They were wonderful to watch. Property was very well kept and the people there were extremely friendly. I would definitely recommend this condo as a wonderful vacation place to stay.

One of the Best Condo's at Kulakane

This condo is one of the best at Kulakane! We have stayed at others on the property and we can't say enough about it. Very comfortable, clean and well stocked. The pictures do not do it justice! Ground floor a big plus. We stayed from May 27 thru June 9th, 2010 and couldn't have had a better vacation. John and Candice were extremely helpful with the accommodations. Leslie (site Manager) ROCKS! They have a true asset for the property with her!!!! Use Paragon Sailing Charters if you want a boat that actually puts their sails up, a terrific sailing adventure. You are close to everything available on the West side of Maui! Will definitely stay again

Incredible views, incredible turtles, incredible whale watching, the neighbors were also incredible, gracious and most welcoming. The condo was immaculate, comfortable and lived up to all that was described. The sunsets were amazing and both my husband and I mastered the "conch." The aloha spirit surrounded us and we are grateful for the wonderful experience. Honoloa Bay was amazing and would loved to have snorkeled at Mile 14 beach but the surf did not allow on that particular day. We are already planning our next trip. Thank you, thank you. Also, Candace was most helpful as was Leslie Dean. The orchids in the trees are beautiful and were all the flowers on the grounds.

Great location, great condo - we would definitely go back. The view is spectacular and we saw whales and turtles almost every day. Great for kids as it's a main floor unit, so while the babes nap, you can be outside enjoying the sun not cooped up in your hotel room. Close to all amenities. The beach has changed over time, but won't disappoint. The best was having dinner every night watching the sunset, hearing the ocean waves and seeing the brightest rainbows after a short rainshower. John was fantastic to deal with as well. PS: Regarding car rentals - if you book early, we booked through Alamo, full size car (we were upgraded to a minivan free of charge when we got there) for 15 days for $440.00 from the airport location.

First off, thanks John for the use of your beautiful condo......everything was perfect for us during our stay from February 11 to 26, 2010. For those of you reveiewing these comments prior to committing to this accommodation, you will not be disappointed and everything is exactly as promised....and more! This is truly an ocean-front residence with the water only 25 feet from your patio. Being ground floor, you have the most convenient access to the pool, water, gardens, laundry and barbeque facilities. The views are stunning and we saw whales just 150 yards out jumping, slapping their tails or just swimming by virtually every time we looked out onto the water. I'd definitely recommend bringing a set of binoculars for up-close views. One of the funnest things we did was rent a Harley at EagleRider in Lahaina and drive the road to Hana....spectacular! Over 600 turns in about 20 miles.....not for the faint hearted, but lots of places to stop and enjoy the views, waterfalls, or foliage. Another fun thing was going out whale and dolphin watching with the Pacific Whale Foundation (we recommend the 3 hour dolphin adventure tour on the "Ocean Expedition" boat...it's probably the best). A few other tips....you will not need to worry about beach mats, boogie boards, utensils, condiments, towels, etc because this vacation rental has it all! There are two grocery stores within walking distance to the condo that have everything you will need, with the Times Market being the better of the two. There are also fresh fruit markets and a great coffee shop (Bad Ass Coffee) just one block away. We found it best to just take a cab from the airport to the condo (it'll cost about $65), and then rent a car at a company close by in Kaanapali. If you rent from an airport location, you will literally pay 3 times as much for the rental. We rented a Ford Focus for 15 days from Enterprise in the Sheraton in Kaanapali for less than $400 all in! This included dropping it off at the airport on the way home (instead of taking a cab back). Anyhow, I've gone on and on so I'll wrap it up. Maui was gorgeous and this condo was perfect...what more can I say?

This condo was exactly as promised. We could not have been happier. Sunsets were marvellous. The bed is very comfortable. Maui is the best. We love snorkelling at Kapaula Beach and at the Sugar Cane Train Station (the public park) at Kaanapali. Captain Steve's had a fantastic whale watching cruise on a motorized raft. Stayed Dec.29th - Jan 26th/10 - This unit was a perfect spot for my husband and I with our 2 year old twins. Nice to enjoy the sun while the kids napped in the room. Whales and turtles spotted all day long - plus the occasional group of dolphins- no need for whale watching tours if you stay here! Excellent tidal pool the length of the beach 3 buildings down where we played each morning. With the Farmers Market and a playground with slides, swings, field- really didn't need to go anywhere else. Met super people and loved the place so much we almost bought a unit ourselves! Can't beat these rental prices for what you get- really, it's a steal! Thanks John and Leslie - will keep you in mind for our next trip!

We had a wonderful stay at John and Leslie's oceanfront condo! The location was excellent: Close to golf, Kanaapali Beach, dining out, shopping, etc. but far enough away from the hustle and bustle of the big hotels. The condo was well-equipped, clean and comfortable with a newly renovated bathroom and kitchen. The sunsets, warm ocean breezes, whales and sea turtles at our doorstep were the icing on the cake! We look forward to going back to 107 Kulakane!

My daughter and I made our trip with my grandson in July of 2009. We are currently planning a return trip in 2010! I spent quite a bit of time searching for a place for us to stay and was extremely happy with what I found. The ground level floor was great with having my grandson with us, but it was nice in terms of access to the pool and the beach. The condo itself was well appointed. We did not have a need for anything that wasn't already there. It was also away from a tourist strip type area, yet still convenient to the stores we needed. In fact the whole place when you are on the water side of it feels secluded, which is nice. We were comfortable and happy staying there and like I said want to return, in fact, we think we ought to make it an annual trip! ;)

We had never been to Maui before, and this condo was a wonderful base from which to expore the island, clean, comfortable, minutes from anything in west maui. Overall a delightful experience, the private beach with the protective reef really allows swimming even on rough days!

My wife and I stayed in John and Leslie's condo for 5 wonderful weeks. The condo was clean, well appointed and located in a property which feels like home. Paradise is here at the Kulakane. We had the pleasure of spending a month relaxing in this unit. Very well maintained and furnished. Spent hours watching the daily visit of sea turtles while lounging at the pool area just steps from the lanai. Location to area shops, markets, and restaurants all within easy access. If your looking to lay back and unwind this is the place. Oh, and did we mention the sunset views are spectacular. We look forward to our return next year. Great condo! The place feels very private, with beautiful views of the ocean and islands... We liked its location on the first floor, when you can just step outside whenever you want. Saw turtles hanging out right off the beach almost every day. It is within walking distance (couple blocks) to coffee shop, market, park and tasty take-outs that we enjoyed eating on our lanai. The owners and property management were very helpful, easy to deal with and made us feel very comfortable. The property was well- maintained and equipped with everything we needed and extra. Great condo for a couple that want to get away from noise and crowds, yet be close to everything. And, did I mention the view? :-)

It took us a long time to select the property we wanted to stay in - and Kulakane was everything we wanted. We enjoyed the quiet, low key bulding and the fellow residents/guests. Local organic shops, local Hawaiian coffee, local fresh fish ready for the BBQ - are all a few minutes walk away. Truly the highlight is the whales which seem to turn up on the horizon every day practically on cue.

This condo was the perfect West Maui base: comfortable, convenient and ideal for a couple. We appreciated the comfy king bed, updated bathroom, kitchen amenities, flat-screen TVs and electronics -- but most of all, the views! Absolutely fabulous, million-dollar views. The photos you see here are very accurate. The condo is clean and tidy, and the condo property is meticulously cared for. We recommend this rental highly and would happily come back any time. We got home two weeks ago, but we still miss having morning coffee on the lanai. Mahalo!

June 4 Dear John, I've just come back to my home in Tokyo. Thank you very much for staying at such a nice unit! We felt so relax and comfortable. Everything was great and we enjoyed beach hopping, Pu-Pu party, beautiful sunsets .... All are our good memories. Other guests of the Kulakane were welcoming us with Aloha spirits. We've stayed in this unit a couple of times and plan to head back again. The complex location is great and the unit location on the first floor is also great, just steps from the pool and sun deck. Everything you need is waiting for you, just bring your flip flops and swimsuit. Aloha!
