Relaxing and comfortable

What a great place! The last week of October, we stayed at this cabin for two nights. The inside of the cabin was clean as a whistle and the beds were quite comfortable. It's obvious Bob and Beth have put a lot of work into this property. We were at the end of a 10 day vacation in western N.C. and Virginia, and hadn't been taking the time to relax like we should have. Our first night, we built a fire in the fire ring on that large patio, watched the sun set, and stayed up talking until way in the night. That was the most relaxing time we spent on the whole trip. We could've spent a week here with no problem. The cabin is so close to town, yet we felt pretty much alone on the side of the mountain. We also enjoyed having our morning coffee on that big deck. We looked at a lot of cabins on VRBO and they begin to look alike after awhile. Maybe it was the view from the deck and patio, but something caught my eye about this one. Boy are we glad we followed our gut and rented Mountainside. We kind of ran into Bob by accident because we got there a little early and he was putting some fresh linens in the bedrooms. He took some time and shared with us about the history of the place, some neat things to do in town, and told us we were welcome to hike all over the property. Next time we will do that, and there WILL be a next time. And hey, spend the 6 bucks apiece to tour The Blowing Rock. It's worth it.

Please take care of this spot

I stayed in this cabin for a week in early - mid June 2011 when i was moving from MA to NC with my 2 children. We LOVED this spot. We are always looking for opportunities to go back - it is tucked down in the hill - close enough to the chaos to join if you choose but private enough if you want to opt out-- it was cozy yet had plenty of space (the wrap deck provides amazing views and a feel of being in the tree-tops) the kitchen has everything and then some- the beds are comfortable and warm- the cabin was so clean - we all loved the hikes-right-out-the-door-- really it was so wonderful - I hope you will enjoy it too and that you will take good care of the land and cabin while you are there so we can go back and find it in the same great shape -- Thanks Bob & Beth--

Perfect size/cozy cabin

My husband and I came up to The Mountainside Cabin for a weekend with another couple and their 3 year old daughter. It was the perfect amount of space for us. When we rolled in there was a lot of fog and it was hard to see anything, let alone the amazing views we read about. We came in late Friday night. Then Saturday morning left to go to Appalachian Ski Mountain (which is a quick 15mins from the cabin). When we came back Saturday the fog had lifted to show the amazing view off the back of the house. Perfect! The beds were very comfortable and we all slept well. Everything we needed, we found; linens, towels, plastic bags, videos, and a great guest book that gave good restaurant recs. I know when we come back for another weekend to enjoy the mountains, we won't hesitate to stay here again. Thanks Beth and Bob!

A wonderful place to escape!

Our family had a wonderful three-day getaway to this wonderful cabin. We did have a slight water issue our second day, but the owners were quick and kind in getting it fixed. The view is wonderful, the proximity to town is great and its amenities are perfect for a casual trip to the mountains! We'll certainly be back.

What a wonderful place to bring in the new year! This cabin is clean and comfortable with beautiful views. So quiet and secluded, it's hard to believe you're only minutes down the road from all the amenities of Blowing Rock. A great property for enjoying a hike without having to drive to a trailhead or just relaxing on the expansive deck. The owners, Beth and Bob, are also great to work with in every way - from their super-responsive communication to first-hand knowledge of the area and helpful updates on weather conditions leading up to your visit. Thank you for a great stay. We can't wait to visit again!!!

We loved our stay at this cabin in late October. The view was amazing with all the fall colors. The accommodations were just as they are described and very comfortable. Hiking in the woods around the cabin was one of our favorite parts of the trip. Would definitely stay here again.

Thank you for "hosting" my birthday weekend with my husband and stepson on our first (but not last!) visit to Mountainside! Your cabin is beyond cozy, with a spectacular view. Even though our weekend was rainy, we were pleased to find out that we had plenty of options for things to do while we were at the cabin-- movies and games galore! We were looking for a quiet, serene retreat, and certainly found it. Thanks for sharing your home with our family!

We recently stayed for 3 nights at Mountainside cabin. It was perfect for our needs. Just as described in the listing, and decorated very nicely. It has all the amenities you could need, including high-speed internet access and satellite TV with a DVD library. The cabin was clean and in a great location--just a few minutes drive from town. There are so many restaurants in Blowing Rock we had a hard time deciding where to eat. And the shops in town are great. We drove along the BRP and were very close to Linville Falls and Grandfather Mountain. One of the best parts of the trip was the "down time" we spent on the deck enjoying the view. And we're so glad it's pet-friendly so our Casey could accompany us. Overall a great cabin at a great price and we can't wait to go back!

Room/cabin with a fantastic view!

My wife and I spent a month at the "Mountainside Cabin" near Blowing Rock, NC, and had a fantastic time. The cabin was excellent for our needs, clean, modern yet rustic, functional Internet and satellite TV. Beth and Bob are tremendous hosts. The cabin is off the beaten path with excellent hiking and birding right outside the door. Of course, Blowing Rock is a groomed-to-zoom town with many amenities. The Blue Ridge Parkway is minutes away. We cannot recommend the cabin more highly; we look forward to returning as soon as possible. Very good value; good facilities; nice deck; great grill. Outstanding all around!

A real 'gem' in a terrific setting

Our five day stay at the Mountainside Cabin was one of the most enjoyable of our trip through the Smokies/Blue Ridge. We booked online and were pleased to find that everything was as nice as it looked there! The location was excellent and the property was very clean and well-maintained. Everything we needed was available. The beds were excellent and the washer/drier was a real plus. The owners were extremely pleasant and made every effort to insure that our stay was a good one. We especially liked the way they made themselves available without imposing upon us. We had a whole list of things we wanted to see and do around Blowing Rock. We did most of them, but found that the thing we liked best was just sitting out on the deck and watching the birds, deer, butterflies, and rabbits. What a treat to be in quiet surroundings with views of the mountains all around! We would certainly recommend this property to anyone who would like the unique experience of being away from the conventional motel/hotel accommodation, while enjoying every convenience.
