This is a beautiful place for a vacation. It easily accommodated our large group. It is completely furnished and there is lots of room for the kids to run loose.

Wilderness Wonderland

I had a wonderful relaxing stay on Lake Mary. The cabin was spacious and modern with plenty of room to accommodate all of my family. Waking up in the morning and looking out across the lake while drinking my morning coffee on the deck was quite a treat. There is an abundance of wildlife to be seen of which I witnessed several bald eagles and deer crossing through the yard. My children enjoyed taking the paddle boat out on the lake exploring and rollerblading on the nicely paved curving road into the property. It is also only a couple miles to town to get groceries and supplies for grilling and cooking up a great up north feast. I will definitely be booking another stay at the cabin this summer to relax and recharge my sanity and enjoy life in the north woods.

Beautiful Lake Cabin, perfect getaway location

Over the last couple of years my immediate family has been taking a trip up north after Christmas just the ten of us. Dad & Mom, the four of us kids are all adults, two with spouses, plus an 11-yr old and an infant. Since the holidays are usually pretty busy with the larger extended families, we plan this time to just get away from the hustle and bustle of the holidays, relax, and spend quality time as a family. Our main objective is literally just to hang out with each other in a peaceful setting and enjoy whatever surroundings there are available to us. We have been going up to Duluth and staying hotels and lodges there, but this year we found this beautiful, private lake cabin in Emily MN which was absolutely perfect for our getaway. The construction was new, the inside was well kept, clean, nice cabin style decor, the fireplace was warm and inviting, and it had beauitful large glass windows over looking the lake. A cozy family location with plenty of beds for all. We spent our days hiking the frozen lake, renting snowmobiles from a local shop in town, playing board/card games in the cabin, making big family meals, and just enjoying our time together. When looking for a location on vrbo, the owners were quick and friendly with their follow up, very helpful and accomodating with any questions I had, and made me feel comfortable signing a lease to rent from them. In addition, one of my sisters left a phone up at the cabin and the owner went out of her way to make sure it was returned to us. Without ever having rented from them before, I would highly recommend this cabin to families or couples looking for an enjoyable get away, and am sure that my family will be renting from them again in the future. Winters up there are peaceful!

Renters Beware

Renters Beware-This rental is not all it is cracked up to be. The beds are absolutely horrible, there is no working TV, you run out of hot water all the time because the toilet is plumbed with hot water, the grass wasn't mowed, all the rugs from the house were in the garage, there is a 50 foot drop off to the lake with no fence and the beach is about five feet from the water with another drop off. The WORST part of the rental is the owner. She requires a damage deposit for animals(which is expected) But she cashed the damage deposit 2 WEEKS BEFORE we even stayed there!!!!! Of course when we contacted her about getting the damage deposit back after our stay, she came back with a lame excuse of things that were wrong. We have rented homes in the Emily area for ten years and NEVER have we had problems or not got our deposit back. If I had the time I would persue this matter legally against the owner. Save your time and money and keep looking for an honest owner to rent from. If you do decide to rent here, DO NOT pay her a damage deposit because she will cash it before you even stay there and then cry foul after she's spent it! What goes around comes around and Karma always catches up with you!

Owner response:These people never complained about one thing until after I confronted them about burning my countertop. They actually gave a great review in our guest book. They burned my counter top, which is not a lame excuse for keeping their small damage deposit. It cost me over $2500 to replace it. I could pursue the matter in court, but everyone knows how hard it is to get people to pay even after you get a judgement, therefore it would end up costing me more money and it's just not worth it. My policy of cashing the damage deposit prior to people's stay is because people can cancel their check after they know they damaged the house and I would have to pursue them in court in order to get any money back. It is no different then when a hotel puts a hold on funds with your credit/debit card. There is not a 50 ft drop. That claim is ludacris. There is about a 10 ft drop to the waters edge on the south side of the lot (I have never seen a house with a fence at the waters edge), but it levels off on the north side and one can walk right onto the dock with no stairs. You can see this all in the pictures.
