Enjoyed New Orleans!

Guest: Patti (Akron, Ohio)
Date of Stay: 04/08/12 Review Submitted: 04/15/12

Emir and Dionne were wonderful to work with. The condo had everything we needed. We were surprised by the size when we first arrived, it is very small. However, it was good enough for 2 people. Much better than staying at a hotel and you can't beat the price. We did use the washer and dryer. Parking permit was great. We used the car to travel to a plantation and swamp tour. Didn't really have trouble finding a space, usually right in front or a short walk down the street. Condo was very clean!

Wonderful (and reasonable!) rental - close to just about everything!

Guest: Jessica (Iowa)
Date of Stay: 03/17/12 Review Submitted: 04/02/12

My husband and I stayed at the Girod House condo for a week in March and had an amazing time. The condo is in the perfect location on Esplanade - within walking distance of the craziness of Bourbon street, the amazing music on Frenchman, and the experience of the French Market and Jackson Square along Decatur. We only used our car one day, and it was because we wanted to drive to Mandeville to explore the Tammany Trace trail and visit Fontainebleau State Park. Parking along the street was never a problem. Cable TV and wireless internet worked perfectly. Kitchen is small but had all of the necessities. Dionne was very helpful and always quick to respond when I requested information on nearby restaurants and things to do. We also arrived about 20 minutes prior to check-in time on our first day - she very graciously welcomed us to the condo and let us in even though we were early! I agree with one of the previous reviewers who stated that the walls in the condo could use a fresh coat of paint, but other than that very minor detail, it was wonderful. Very comfortable, and VERY reasonable! Much better than staying in a hotel! We will definitely stay again if we make another trip to NOLA! Things we'd recommend in the area: The Spotted Cat was one of our favorite stops for music on Frenchman street (Washboard Chaz Trio was amazing!). And if you're ever in NOLA on a Monday night, don't miss "Super Jam!" at Maison on Frenchman. It's almost like an open mic night - so many talented musicians coming together all in one place - it was an amazing and unpredictable show! If you like seafood/Cajun food, try the Cajun pasta at Coop's Place on Decatur. It's more of a bar than a restaurant, but the food is delicious. Port O Call is right across the street from the condo and has excellent burgers, but be prepared to wait! Even on weekdays there was a line out the door. Definitely don't miss out on beignets at Cafe Du Monde, gator on a stick at the French Market, Hurricaines at Pat O'Brien's, and local artists/performers at Jackson Square!

Perfect Location

Guest: Barbara (Chicago)
Date of Stay: 01/13/12 Review Submitted: 01/29/12

If possible, I would give 4 1/2 stars because the walls, particularly in the bathroom, need a fresh coat of paint and the mattress was soft & saggy. However, we would absolutely stay there again! The neighborhood was very safe & quiet, but just a short walk from Frenchman's St & Bourbon St. Dionne was quick to respond to any questions and it was absolutely spotless.

Owner response:we will work on the mattress and the wall. thanks, and hope you will come again.

This property was absolutely perfect. It was very quiet and secure, and also within walking distance of so many great things--the French market, the river, shopping, restaurants, Jackson Square, jazz clubs--I could go on and on! Thank you for sharing it with us!

Owner response:Thank you for your kind response. Please come back.

I am in love and I will definitely be back to stay at this condo. Emir and Dionne are both quick to reply to any kind of requests and only more than happy to help out in any way they can. The pricing is perfect and the condo is beautiful. I can't think of a single complaint. Enjoy Bourbon street which is a block away but make sure to visit Frenchmen Street it was so much more fun and less drunk tourists. I have bragged nonstop about my little find and have friends interesting in visiting theirselves. Thank you so much Emir and Dionne!

Lovely and Amazing

Date of Stay: 07/14/11 Review Submitted: 07/27/11

I was in New Orleans for business and pleasure and this was the perfect property for both. I was in town to look for a place to live as I'm relocating to the area. As soon as I walked through the door, I wish this place were available because wanted to move right in. The photos were very accurate. It’s quaint and cozy. The sofa was so comfortable I could barely sit on it without wanting to take a nap. The kitchen had every utensil I needed. I just loved cooking with a cast iron pan! There was ample closet space and the bed super comfy! You don’t need a car. You can walk everywhere. It’s a short walk to Frenchman and a nice stroll to the French Quarter. The Spotted Cat was my favorite place for music on Frenchmen but there are so many music clubs to enjoy – Snug Harbor, DBA, Maison, Blue Nile are great! Jeremy Davenport at The Ritz is not to be missed. Meauxbar was my favorite fancy restaurant. Pravda is a great bar. But there are too many great places to discover for yourself. There’s nothing about this place I didn’t enjoy!

Owner response:Thank you for your response. Very glad you had a great time at the condo. Good luck in your move to New Orleans. If you need any help in that regard, let me know.

This was the perfect location for our family vacation! Walking distance to almost everything including the trolley, easy parking for when we did use the car (road trip to Oak Alley & other plantations. The neighborhood felt really safe, and we walked back late a few nights from the French Quarter, but its close proximity to Bourbon St made that no problem. Loved Frenchmen's Street, doubt we would have traversed it as much if we'd stayed elsewhere. Condo itself was clean and nicely furnished. Really nice that it was inside courtyard, so nice and quiet. Dionne was FANTASTIC, mailed my missing shoe back to me when I discovered I'd left it there. Would definitely stay here again.

This place was perfect. Within walking distance from everything! And if it wasn't - it's in walking distance to the trolleys. Never needed to rent a car the whole week! Had a great time. Very clean and private - away from the craziness that is Bourbon street - but yet just a short walk away! Little convienient store right next door was a plus. Tiny walk to the not-so-touristy bars and jazz clubs of New Orleans where the locals hang out. LOVED IT!!

We were in town for just a few days for a wedding and this condo was the perfect location to all of the French Quarter bars/shops plus a short walk to Jackson Square. The condo was immaculate and the area was quiet even though it was close to Bourbon Street. Parking was always available when we needed it but the condo location was ideal so we walked almost everywhere! We had a wonderful time and enjoyed staying at your condo. Thank you!

Mardi Gras Stay - Couldn't Have Been Better

Guest: Cynthia (West Hartford, CT)
Date of Stay: 03/04/11 Review Submitted: 03/13/11

My family stayed here for Mardi Gras and our experience couldn't have been better. The condo is compact but very nicely furnished and comfortable. The bed is comfortable and the kitchen is small but well stocked. The location is wonderful - just out of the hubbub of Bourbon St. and the French Quarter and a few blocks from the jazz of Frenchman's St., the French Market, and the streetcar to down or up town. The private courtyard provides a quiet place to relax. But the biggest asset is the friendly, kind, and helpful woman that maintains the condo. Prior to our stay she provided me with pages of emails providing requested information on restaurants, music, how to best see the parades etc. She picked us up at the airport for a reduced fee, gave us a ride to the parades, continued to contact us during our stay to check on our needs, and provided everything we could want to make our visit a success. What a jewel of a person! We found everything to be just as described. Internet access was good. The owner is also responsive and helpful. This was a very special and unique experience.

Owner response:Thank you so much, and yes, Dionne is a gem. I hope you will come again.

The Girod House is beautiful, very clean and in a great location. My wife and I enjoyed our stay there immensely and will definitely be going back. We parked the car when we got there and didn't use it until we left! Anyone looking for a quiet place to sleep while being right in the middle of New Orleans, look no further!

I stayed with my husband, and two-year old daughter. It was a perfect location!!!!: Right on the quiet edge of the French Quarter so that one could easily walk to the heart of it but avoid the bustle. It's also on the edge of the Faubourg Marigny which is a lovely neighborhood with great restaurants. The manager is very nice and responsive and the owner is great as well. One small caveat -- rather than windows it has lovely doors which you can open running along the apartment. I didn't feel comfortable leaving them open at night (even though we felt entirely safe in the location and building) but there's only a small window of time during the year when one would really want windows open. But overall, we loved the place and would definitely rent it again.

Owner response:thank you so much for your comments, and please come again.

I would highly recommend the Girod House. It was clean and comfortable. Although it was small, it was larger than a hotel room and the living room sofa was very comfortable. The kitchen had everything we needed. The washer and dryer were great things to have. The location is perfect. It is on the quiet edge of the FQ but within easy walking distance to everything. The condo is located by a courtyard so it is set back from the street and very quiet. It was always safe to walk in the neighborhood at all hours. Frenchmen St. is the other direction and also had some good restaurants. Dionne was always quick to respond to any questions.

Perfect Girls Trip!!!!!

Guest: ME!! (Alabama)
Date of Stay: 09/10/10 Review Submitted: 09/15/10

The condo was perfect, clean and a great location, on the edge of the French Quarter between Dauphine and Bourbon. It’s far enough away from all the chaos when you want to sleep but just blocks from the market and the party scene on Bourbon. We walked to and from our condo at all times of the day and night and never had any problems (usually on Bourbon). I was a little concerned at how parking would play out since we were arriving between 4p and 5p but we ended up with a spot right in front of the condo, parked the car and didn’t get back in it until it was time to leave on Monday. Emir was so easy to deal with and made making the reservation very simple. He even gave me time to cancel my reservation at the Holiday Inn Express witch ended up being a great decision. Dionne was very helpful and answered all my questions about the condo and the city. Also there is mini mart next door and a place right down the street (facing the condo it’s to the left) called “the bar” that has great cheese sticks and fried green beans witch are best when enjoyed after a long night of drinking. All in all a great trip to one of my most favorite cities. Thanks again!

Esplanade and the French Quarter

Guest: ZiZi (Alabama)
Date of Stay: 07/01/10 Review Submitted: 07/07/10

This rental was in an excellent location within walking distance of everything New Orleans. There was no off street parking as was advertised in the amenities nor did the wi-fi work. Other than those two small issues, I would highly recommend this as a place to stay in NOLA!

Owner response:The wi-fi will be re-connected over the weekend. And while there is no designated parking space, there is a parking permit which allows parking in the Marigny, but not in the Fremch Quarter, which is across the street. With the parking permit, there is parking on the condo side of Esplanade Ave, and for a few blocks back into the Marigny.

What a GREAT feeling it is when you arrive at your vacation rental and it ends up being everything you were hoping for and more. Condo is located in a secure, historically significant, building. It's beautifully decorated, fully equipped with everything you could possibly need, spotless clean, and even had that fresh "new house" smell. It's situated in a great/quiet/safe location -- right on the edge of the FQ -- with all the crazy fun still within walking distance. It was a real bonus to have a cool restaurant/bar like "Port of Call" just a few steps from our front door, we'd go over there each morning and have a "Monsoon" before heading out on the town =) We just can't say enough good things about our stay - the condo owner, Emir, and caretaker, Dionne, were wonderful and accomodating. We look forward to returning -- Thanks again!

Owner response:Thanks so much for your kinds words. Please come back. Being a New Orleans native, I am always happy when someone leaves with a positive impression of my city.

Date of Stay: 06/07/10 Review Submitted: 07/21/11

My husband and I stayed at this condo last year for our 10th anniversary. We had such a great trip and enjoyed the friendly city. What a great location.....in between the Quarter and Faubourg Marigny! We loved walking to Snug Harbor, throughout the Quarter, and felt very safe. The condo was clean and had everything we needed. Mr. Phillips was very helpful with the arrangements...along with Dionne. She gave us great tips about local music...one of the reasons we were there! Definitely would love to come again! Had such a great experience with this rental from VRBO..we used VRBO to find a cottage in England and will use it again for our next trip!

Owner response:Thank you for taking the time to write this detailed review. As I was born and raised in New Orleans, I always want a tenant to have a great time in my city. Please come again.

This is a perfect spot to visit both the Faubourg and the French Quarter. Beautifully decorated, with all the cooking and prep equipment you will need. It was quiet, spotless and the caretaker, Diane, went out of her way to give us suggestions for dining and other NO experiences -- enough for a month of nights out in NO. Take a tour of the Faubourg (by bike too) and then venture out to the plantations. We know NO very well so we did not expect a huge grocery store nearby but the deli had all that we needed for basics. We would go back in a heartbeat.

Owner response:Thank you so much for you response. I am glad you had a great time. Please come again. You are always welcom.
