Quaint Bungalow Near Beach and Village

Year Purchased: 2008

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes

Ever since we purchased our first rental property, we have been on the lookout for an actual house as opposed to a townhome. We knew this home was for us when we drove down the shaded street under the arched live oaks - I am so happy to actually have some of these wonderous giants in our yard! We loved the charm of this house with the wood paneling and stone fireplace - the old St. Simons feel.

The Unique Benefits at this House

This is a very quiet street with plenty of privacy. We are close to the beach and the village but away from the crowds.

My husband and I are native Atlantans and currently reside in Dunwoody. I have been coming to the St. Simons area my entire life. My husband fell in love with the area during a visit to St. Simons over New Years Weekend 2000. On an impulse, we purchased our first property on St. Simons during that fateful trip and it was the best decision that we have made. We love visiting the area with our 2 girls and can't wait for the day that we can spend even more time on the coast.

I just wanted to send you a note to let you know that the keys are in route back to you..Thank you for making it so easy! We had a fantastic week in St. Simons and loved your home..it was perfect for us and gave everyone the space they needed when we felt like we had all had enough of each other! :) We rented bikes and appreciated the bike rack that you had at the house and the location was the best!!! We have stayed all over the island around the Village and felt your location topped them all!!! We will be in touch when we plan our next trip to the island!!

Our summer family tradition!

Summer on St. Simons - it doesn't get any better! Located in a quiet neighborhood, this charming bungalow has plenty of space for all (we are family of 4 adults + pet). Very clean, nicely appointed, and provides every kitchen appliance large and small. Separate laundry room with outdoor access is great for dropping beach towels, etc. after day on the beach. Owners responded helpfully in all communications. Bike rentals, beach, good restaurants, and Pier Village are only a 10 minute walk away. Loads of history, shopping, golf, restaurants, outdoor activities, guided kayak adventure (saw dolphins!). Favorite restaurants: Gnats Landing and Blackwater Grill (visited by DD&D Guy Fieri)

A perfect vacation!

Guest: St. Simon Islander Wannabe (Calgary, Alberta , Canada)
Date of Stay: 07/31/10 Review Submitted: 02/09/11

We stay here in August of 2010. The cottage was perfect! I was rather nervous renting over the internet but the owners were very easy to work with and the cottage looked exactly as the pictures. The weather was HOT but the cottage was always cool and refreshing. We stayed with three of our children and we sure did not want to go home! The distance to a small but lovely beach was only a few blocks so we could go several times a day. The walk to the village was very pleasant and not too long. I loved the deck area and spent every late afternoon reading there while listening to the sound of the cicadas, an unusual experience for a Canadian. We keep dreaming of coming back to St. Simons Island and our happy memories have gotten us through a long Canadian winter. Thank you for renting us your cottage!

"My dog digs SSI"

Guest: Winnie (Shepherdstown,WV)
Date of Stay: 10/18/10 Review Submitted: 12/15/10

We rented this cute little cottage for 10 days this past October. We loved everything about it. We brought our 6 year old Golden Retriever, who loved being a "village dog" and walking on her leash . We had one minor maintenance issue and the owners responded immediately and sent a professional to check out problem It was all taken care of in less than one day. We have 3 children who stayed with us for a long weekend and just had a wonderful time. Can't wait to go back!

Owner response:Thanks so much for your kind words!!! It is comments like this that keep me going as a property owner/landlord. We try to do our best!! Hope you come back next year - we have redone much of the fence in the backyards for future 4 legged friends visiting the island!
