Location: Hilo, Hilo District, Big Island, Hawaii, USA (House is 20 minutes South of Airport/35 minutes to see lava)

If you are planning a visit to the East side of the Big Island, and want to stay in a great house, this is the one. Tastefully decorated, with many special touches, this 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is the one to choose. The house is set back on one acre of property with beautiful landscaping.
The master bedroom/bath is in the upstairs with a mini loft/reading/meditating area to lounge on the lazy afternoons or just for a quiet rest. The most comfortable bed you may ever sleep in, with a tv to watch if you wish.
Two bedrooms are downstairs located across from each other, each with a queen bed. One of the bedrooms downstairs has a tv also.
Living room has comfy couches, 42" flat screen TV,DVD player, mini stereo, and musical instruments for you to play. Singing bowls, gong, special trumpet from Tibet, and a few hand instruments to experiment with.
Dining room has a table for 6 to eat meals at, and the bar made from driftwood in the shape of a whale has 4 barstools. Kitchen
is equipped with all you will need. (Blender, toaster, microwave, coffee maker, coffee grinder, dishwasher, etc.)
Hang out on the lanai with tasteful furniture and a Buddha fountain in the background to relax to. After a day out adventuring on the Island, come home and enjoy a hot tub or a dip in the pool. The yard is beautiful to walk around, many flowers and foliage to look at and a swing to swing on.
The house is located in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision, 20 minutes south of Hilo.
If you are looking for a real home, this is the one.
And please notice the fully landscaped yard, this is not a house with no pictures of landscaping, whether you choose our house or another lovely vacation house here on the East side of the Big Island, it is important to notice pictures of landscaping in the pictures, you would not want to show up to a house with zero landscaping.
You can jump in your car and drive about 1 1/2 miles to the end of the road, and sit at the cliffs and watch the ocean, very relaxing.
You can drive about 20 minutes to get to snorkeling in Hilo. You can drive about 1/2 hour to get to Kapoho also to snorkel. To see the live lava flowing into the ocean, the drive is about 35 minutes, a must see, absolutely breathtaking.

VRBO Bear stayed here - 10/24/2008 My respite at the Zen House on the eastern side of the Big Island in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision was scenic and relaxing. The home’s exterior offered ample seating areas where I enjoyed taking in the surrounding flora and fauna each morning (including chickens) on the porch with a soothing cup of honey tea. The area surrounding the home is a naturalist’s dream!
When you walk into the main room downstairs, you are greeted with cultural décor from around the world, including an array of musical instruments. Look for the elephant sculpture—it’s my favorite. Each room in the home offers rainforest views and abounds in the tropical sounds of the Big Island.
During my stay in the Hilo area, I took in many of the local attractions within a short drive of the Zen House, including Volcano National Park, Kilauea lava flow, and the 15th Annual Ho`olaule`a festival in Downtown Hilo.
This home is ideal for those looking for a getaway vacation home with modern conveniences like high-speed Internet, cable TV, plus a washer and dryer. Perhaps, I’ll return to write my book, The Adventures of the VRBO Bear, or just hibernate for the winter.
