** "The past week I have gone over the VRBO listings for Albuquerque and area repeatedly, and there is no doubt in my mind that your house has the best combination of features, location, and value of any other property. All this is supported by the many glowing comments from previous guests and the fact that yours is in such high demand. And I must add that the photos and presentation(staging) of your house is first rate." **

Why the Owner Chose Albuquerque
Albuquerque is the unsung hero of the south west. It is a wonderfully diverse town with great weather and lots to do. From the majestic 11,000 foot Sandia Mountains to the Rio Grande Valley, you will find friendly laid back people and wonderful local food. The North Valley of Albuquerque is the historic part of town and is very centrally located to access many other areas.
The Unique Benefits at this House
I really like the location of my house. To me it is at the heart of Albuquerque, very close to Old Town and the origins of the city. Many important parts of the city are within 15-20 minutes or less, and yet it feels very private and quiet.
Wonderful area with historic plaza, interesting shops and restaurants, museums and galleries.
A paved trail that runs the length of the city and allows access to trails in the bosque (woods) along the river and the nature center.
A natural food store with great deli and healthy planet friendly products.
A wonderful grassy park with exercise stations, play areas and close to the museums.
Lovely nature center with bird ponds, gardens, trails and museum.
Owner's Map of Albuquerque
I did most of the renovation work myself and am very proud of the way it turned out. Green features are important to me, so the house has two solar heating systems and a rain harvesting system. I have enjoyed Albuquerque very much, because it combines the amenities of a fairly large city with an abundance of outdoor activities and wilderness within easy reach.

my husband and i stayed here for a week at the beginning of september. this is a wonderful house has everything you could want. we had too many restaurants we wanted to visit so we never even took advantage of the great kitchen! the decoration is amazing. having susana on site was such a comfort to us, since this was our first time renting a home for vacation. we felt safe, comfortable, and well cared for. the house was clean, and so well appointed! close to everything (though, we had a car). working with justin and susana was easy and convenient. they are both super friendly. the dining room table is amazing, you could host a fabulous dinner party here. or just hide from the world for a week, like we did.

I have been staying at Casa de Calderones for the last 4 days. I am writing this on my last night here because I am compelled to say thank you to Justin for having such a wonderful home. My stay was perfect. This home is well equipped, well appointed and cleaner than my own home! I felt safe and comfortable. Susana, who9 lives in the casita in the back of the property is a gem. She was helpful and kind and attentive to my questions. You can be assured that I will be back to stay for my next trip to Albuquerque. I have found my home away from home.

Hello, Our stay auto-less went very well. We walked to co-op, Old Town, St. Clair winery, Botanical Gardens et al at will. We took bus on Central to grocery, downtown train station [for trip to Sante Fe] and found bike shop on Gold St. opened for 3 weeks and became their 1st rental customers; we went on a 35 mile bike excursion. Our only wish would be that bus on Rio Grande would run more frequently. I'm sure budget concerns limit this route. All in all we managed on-footedly well. Thanks for asking. Kent Johnson P.S. Loved the house.

Hi Justin, We had a wonderful visit - the location was perfect for walking everywhere...yes we are walkers. We learned so much about ABQ. Everyone was so helpful everywhere we went. We did Old Town, Downtown, Route66, ElCamino to Spanish Cultural Center, burgers at Wimpy's, The University and the wonderful old neighborhoods surrounding, Rio Grande trail South and North. Loved the Nature Center - coyotes, roadrunners and sandhill cranes. Best restaurants - The Flying Star, The Range Cafe and Church Street Cafe. The Casa and Susana were so right on. Loved your Mata Ortiz pots - we have been to the artists homes in Mexico twice. You have made it very comfortable and the info drawer was so helpful. Thanks,I'm sure we will be back. Linda

We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Casa Calderones. Very conveninet to Old Town--walking distance if you don't mind a little hike (about 10 blocks or so). Comfortable and quiet with all the amenities. Justin has done a wonderful job of restoring the house. Susana the caretaker was extremely helpful and accomodating. The Nature Center just a mile or so away is great for walking and birding. Highly recommend.

After a friend recommended vrbo.com I was very fortunate to find this casita for our recent stay in NM. It was charming, immaculately clean, the towels were big and fluffy, the bed was comfy and the small garden and outdoor seating perfect for the evening glass of wine and/or cookout with friends (yes, there is a grill!!!). Even the kitchen was adequately equipped which made meal prep and clean up easy. The neighborhood was very quiet too which was a pleasing bonus. I don't think we will ever stay anywhere else in Albuquerque as long as Justin is renting this casita. He was an absolute pleasure to deal with and Susana the caretaker was so helpful and considerate during our stay.

I cannot rave enough about this property. I could live in this house and not change a thing. The interior is elegantly, subtly Southwest, with intriguing photos and art on the walls, impressive pieces of pottery and colored glass, rare found items, all in a tranquil uncluttered setting. Very quiet, safe, and secure behind adobe walls and gate. Listing photos were enticing but there is so much more. It is obvious that the upkeep of this house and grounds is an ongoing labor of love. Not a spec of dust on anything, including outside light fixtures! A fully functional house. We lacked for nothing. Instructions on the table directed us to a nearby co-op market where we found fresh croissants and strawberries, suggested among other activities a slow drive on a winding road to a farmer's market and vineyard. It was perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Excellent experience in a beautiful house. The house is beautifully maintained, felt cool inside with 90 degree weather outside, on a quiet street and close to old town. Lovely backyard where I watched hummingbirds play at the feeder. Property manager was helpful and unobtrusive. I will definitely stay here again!

Beautiful house and garden, exactly as depicted in the photos and very well equipped. We didn't see much of the landlord, Justin, but the caretaker, Sue, was lovely and very helpful, checking in with us on a daily basis. We plan to rent every year until we have our own place in Albuquerque.
