New in 2006, spacious and clean 2 bedroom vacation home with surrounding mountain views and decks abound.
This spacious cabin sits on 2.5 acres of a wooded area nestled in the mountains of the Lost River Valley in Baker, West Virginia. Located just 2 hours from Washington, DC, 1 hour from both Winchester and Harrisonburg, VA, the area is an ideal weekend vacation spot. The cabin is located in a gay-friendly neighborhood on a private road.
There are hiking trails within walking distance of the cabin. And just a short drive down the road leads to several restaurants, a local artists’ craft co-op, and the Lost River State Park which offers a number of outdoor activities. However, this cabin offers enough amenities that there is no need to leave. In addition to a 40’ flat screen HDTV and satellite programming with movie and satellite radio channels, there is a gas grill, a wood-burning fireplace, a DVD and book library, and high speed wireless internet access.
On the second level of the cabin guests will find a furnished Great Room with a cathedral ceiling with skylights, beautiful stone fireplace, and half bathroom. The kitchen features a counter top bar with seating, stainless steel appliances including a dishwasher, microwave, convection oven, refrigerator/freezer, toaster, and coffeemaker. The kitchen is also well-stocked with dishes, glasses, utensils, condiments, spices, coffee, tea, and everything needed to cook, serve cocktails, or utilize the gas grill outside on the upstairs deck. Outside on the second level is also a screened-in porch with a dining area.
The master bedroom is completely furnished with a queen bed with a very comfortable and new mattress. The master bathroom includes a soaking tub, a separate shower, and two sinks. A door from the bedroom leads into a screened-in porch with a hammock. The guest bedroom has a full-size bed and a private bath with shower as well as private access to one of the two screened in porches. Both bedrooms are secluded on the first level of the house. Upstairs in the Great Room, the sofa opens into a queen-size bed. There is also an available full-size air mattress that will fit in either the Great Room or in a bedroom.

Year Purchased: 2006
I am an Atlanta native who moved to DC in 2005. I love DC, but every now and then, I like to recharge by heading to the mountains. I fell in love with Lost River and this house instantly. It is the perfect combination of the quiet and beautiful surroundings with all the amenenties that I am used to, but with much more space.
