Two months in paradise at House of Shimmering Waters! Magnificient views, quality furnishings, immaculate condition and all accuratley described. Aaron provided great suggestions for activities during our two month stay. Though we never met he is quite the host. His caretaker, Rex, was most helpful and accomodating and was most accomodating in insuring we had a pleasant stay. If you desire peace, solitude and being away from the hustle of tourist life then this is the place for you. We found it conveniently located about half way between Hilo and Kona. This enabled us to explore in different directions and make the best utilization of our time. Green sand beach, black sand beach, sea turtles, national parks, hiking, fruit trees, Kona coffee...everything we dreamed it would be! We loved Naalehu and especially the Hana Hou Restaurant and the Wednesday and Saturday Farmers Market. Can't wait to get back.

We had such a wonderful time here. It is secluded, comfortable and we enjoyed coming home in the evenings. We will definitely stay here again and also recommend it to others.

The district of Ka'u is not only the largest in the islands, it is also the only place that has never been conquered by invaders domestic or foreign. The people here are fiercely independent, and Ka'u thus remains one of the most remote, little visited, and authentic places in the islands. If you're looking to get a feel for what old Hawai'i must have been like, this is it. The wonderful home, fully "off the grid," is situated at rain forest altitude about the sleepy town of Waiohinu. The house is every bit as delightful as other reviewers have said, and it is very near to location of the ancient Hawai'ian village of Ha'ao. Giant mango trees, eucalyptus, banana, hibiscus and fantastic bamboo forests surround you. From the Volcanoes National Park to the east, Punalu'u Black Sands beach nearby, the Tibetan Temple above Pahala, to the cliffs of Ka Lae and more, there is much to see and do. But, you'll find that once you're comfortably seated on the open-air lanai with a fresh cup of Kona coffee in hand - you may just not want to ever leave the property at all!

If you want privacy and no neighbors this is the place for you. I walked in and immediately felt all the hassles of getting there disappear – I relaxed. Nice territorial view from a nice size lanai. The house is as described in the listing. It is about 30 minutes from Volcano.

"We had a wonderful time at your place! It was absolutely beautiful, and perfect for our stay and what we were looking for. It was incredibly relaxing. Your caretaker was also really great--he was helpful and really fun to talk to. We all agreed that we would like to stay there again sometime. Our vacation ended much too soon! I really can't think of anything to suggest that would have made our stay more pleasant! Thank you for keeping such a nice home, and we hope to rent it again from you sometime soon!"

"We had a great trip to the island and appreciated your house as well as your recommendations. Your location was wonderful and suited us just fine, including the peaceful serenity, sheep and views. Caretaker Ken was extremely helpful and pleasant guy. Farmers' market and local restaurant were fun. I want to reiterate our pleasure in your renting it for our holiday use."

"We have enjoyed the stay very much. Here are some impressions from our 15-year old son Jan: *The House of Shimmering Waters* is a wonderful and relaxing place to unwind and let go of worries. We found the spectacular view and the natural setting among uniquely Hawaiian vegetation quite pleasant. The caretaker, Ken, was very friendly and even informed us of multiple beaches and other less known locales on the island. However, we did not put this information to any good use as we just could not get ourselves to leave this beautiful and calming estate. And, although the natural aspect of this place was soothing, the wireless internet and satellite television kept us in touch with civilization from afar. Overall, our stay there could not have been better. We truly enjoyed every single day of our vacation."

"We want to thank you for opening up your home to us. It's a beautiful property with awesome views. We enjoyed the halfway location between Hilo and Kona, allowing us to enjoy each side on different days. I think we covered everything we wanted to on the Big Island and more. The attention to detail in the amenities and private location make it a pleasure to come back to. The guidebooks were very useful and the dvd collection and board games were a nice touch. Overall we had an excellent stay and will definitely recommend your home to friends visiting the Big Island. Mahalo!"

"Overall we absolutely loved the stay at your place. It was exactly what we were looking for when staying at the big island. The location between Kona and the volcano was perfect. It was quiet and secluded up on the hill. The furniture and layout was also very welcoming and comfortable. Also, your caretaker was extremely helpful. He helped us get situated and gave us many tips on good places to check out. Thank you letting us stay there. We'll definitely recommend to friends if we hear anyone is going to the big island."

"Your house is beautiful and we had a wonderful stay. We wish it had been longer. It is beautifully decorated and appointed with nice dishware, flatware and accessories. We enjoyed exploring the fruit trees and the exciting trips up and down the driveway! Although we don't see getting back to Hawaii for at least a couple of years, we definitely want to plan for a stay at your house again. Thanks again for a wonderful place!"

"I had a great time. Your house was very comfortable to stay in. Your caretaker really keeps your place immaculate. I am an animal lover and liked feeding the sheep. We went all over the Island exploring each day and look forward to going back there one day. Thanks for opening your house to Elisha, her friend & myself."

"The house was wonderful to stay in and everyone remarked on how lucky we were to have found such a gem. Your caretaker was great and very accommodating. He brought us fresh bananas off of the tree and gave us directions on some "must see" attractions. I know that if we make it out again I'll be giving you a call."

"Your place was just fantastic. I know that’s not very specific so let me elaborate. Had everything I could want. Master bed was very comfy. Washer, dryer, big fridge, gas stove, loved the blue tiled walk in shower – so convenient to get cleaned up after a long, warm day. The fruit, nut, and other trees were great. Picked oranges, tangerines, avocados, mac nuts. Bananas weren’t quite ripe but that’s life. Nice to have the sheep around. Your place was in the perfect climate belt – it could not have been better. The caretaker was just great. When I tell people about my trip to Hawaii island, your house, fruit trees, on-site caretaker, ocean view, and great climate which were the big highlights of my trip, you can be sure that anyone who wants a recommendation for lodging on the big island will get your place as my recommendation – I already have co-workers drooling over my trip."

"We absolutely loved the house - the wood interior reminded me of my family's cottage in the Norwegian mountains. The skylight in the bedroom was a real treat as we could watch the stars and the moon while recovering from jet lag. And the view was incredible with both the mountains and the ocean. We felt like we had Hawaii all to ourselves which was perfect for our getaway. We also appreciated all of your caretaker's help. Thanks for your sharing your home so that we could have our dream vacation."

"I want to start off by saying that your rental was amazing! I truly enjoyed going to the Big Island & staying at your home. I wish that I could have stayed another week. It is really a beautiful place that I look forward to visiting again soon. I loved the set up of the house and the grounds were beautiful. The decor of the house was really inviting, relaxing and comfortable. We were literally 5 minutes from the wedding and it was a nice break to be so near. Your caretaker was so helpful with any questions that we had. It was nice to see the pride that he has in his work. Thank you for opening up your home to us. I really hope to visit again soon. "The House of Shimmering Waters" is truly a treasure of the Big Island. Aloha & Mahalo!"

Aaron, We loved it! I believe our first words were "WOW"! You have a beautiful home in a wonderful setting/grounds. The week went way too fast! We found it easily. Suggestions/recommendations from you gave us a lot of good info. We did go to Kilauea Lodge, though not on Valetines, and it was delicious. We went to the Na'ahelu open market Wed. morning and got good produce. We can't think of any suggestions at this point, everything was well thought out. Also we can't imagine staying anywhere else on future visits to the Big Island. We just hope you'll have the availability at the "House of Shimmering Waters". Thank you again for sharing your home. Regards, Chris + Clint
