It's located just two blocks from Charleston's famous Market Street in the heart of downtown Charleston near the corner of East Bay Street, which runs along the water down to the Battery. An all-hours Harris Teeter grocery store is conveniently located diagonally across the intersection.
On the first floor, you will find the living area with two love-seat sofas that face a giant gas fireplace and a full gourmet kitchen complete with Viking stove, Stainless steel refrigerator, and Bosch dishwasher. On the second floor is the bedroom, which includes a queen size bed with gas fireplace, and a bathroom with a beautiful porcelain claw foot tub with showerhead above. There are fireplaces in all four rooms, although only the two described above are working gas fireplaces. A stacked washer and dryer is also located in the bathroom. We stayed in the Kitchen House on two occasions - a total of 60 days. It was absolutely wonderful! The location is perfect - a very short walk to the Market and all the attractions that Charleston has to offer. Having the upscale Harris Teeter grocery store close by was an extra bonus. The kitchen house had all the character of an historic building with modern amenities such as a commercial gas range, hardwood floors, granite counters, and a stereo system throughout the house and courtyard. Don't forget to bring your favorite CDs! The courtyard was very private and magical with the smell of Rosemary. The rooms are charming. Each has it's ownfireplace and plenty of natural light. We walked the town every day. Each time we were taken back by magical discoveries - beautiful architecture, gardens, fantastic restaurants, entertaining events and friendly people. The owners were gracious and accomodating. Next time we get a chance to visit Charleston, we will definately stay at the kitchen house.

This is a great property to rent. My wife and I (along with our 3 month old child) rented it for 3 months. It was the ideal place for a family to be together in downtown Charleston. The grocery store is very close and plenty of shops and places to eat are with walking distance. I do no think we drove our car but a handful of times during our stay. The property has all the comforts you would want in a home and a terrific kitchen for cooking. The patio is perfect for entertaining guests. Our only regret is that we could not rent it for longer! I would recommend it to anyone looking for a great place to stay for an extended time in downtown Charleston.
