This cabin is rustic, yet has all the necessities of home. Quiet, Country Life. Lori was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating!! We loved Buddy.( the dog) We enjoyed walking the trail to lake and just sitting out front listening to the birds.Close to Blowing Rock. We made a day of that. Thank you, Kim and BryanRecommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thanks so much for your review. Enjoyed having you stay at the Myers house. So glad you found it peaceful and enjoyed the "quiet"sounds of nature. I have always enjoyed the hum of bird over the hum of an engine. Please come and visit again, Lori

Great hideaway-centrally located for all the college touring we needed to do during spring break. Fully stocked with all the amenities of home. For being in the woods, the cabin was clean and the beds were very comfortable. Owners/caretakers were extremely helpful and kind and made our travels to the unknown area pretty easy. We never got to see the lake or the beautiful trails but that was because it was a working vacation--next time we'll sit back a little more and relax. I just love'd how the water made my hair feel after a great shower. Our dog was made to feel welcome, and when we need to be in the area again, we will be back.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, pet owners, sightseeing.
Owner response: Thank you for your review. So glad you found our location central for your day trips to check out colleges. We are within 90 miles of Asheville, Charlotte and Winston -Salem.I hope she found one where she will be happy and well educated at.The "at" was just a test,ha ha.Please come when you can relax a little more and enjoy the scenic lake and trails. Lori

We rented this cabin for a weekend visit with a family member who was at Bethel Colony. It was a great location. We were able to spend quality family time together and enjoy some home cooked meals! The only problem we had was the satellite didn't get the channel the GA Bulldog game was on, but GA won and we survived! :) The cabin was great - the description was spot on. I would highly recommend this property. The owners were VERY helpful coordinating our stay. And thier daughter happened to be staying in the house next door, so we were well taken care of. We would definitely consider going back just for a weekend getaway.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Please use this renter's review along with the others. My comment: The main positive points of our vacation cottage are its privacy and beauty, including the landscape around it, yet only two miles from a major shopping center. It is much more than just a place to spend a night. Ransom B. Harris, Ph.D., Owner

We used Ransom's Woods as our "home-base" for a much needed mini-vacation. My mom, sisiter, niece and I started out planning a trip to Charlotte for a Women's Bible Conference - Friday night and Saturday morning. But when we found this lil' gem (the cabin at just the right price), we decided to make it a mini vacation. We got there Thursday afternoon and settled in. Friday, we ventured out for some shopping and found a delightful store just right around the corner called "Treasures". They have unique items and excellent prices. After the Bible Conference ended in Charlotte, we ventured out to Valdese, NC not far from the cabin. We enjoyed that town of shopping and tours - even caught the outdoor drama Saturday night. Sunday, we drove on to Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain and the Linville Caverns. It was a wonderful time for all of us. And the cabin was just an added jewel! It is rustic but very comfortable. The kitchen was fully equiped and even had a washer and dryer! There was plenty of room! The owners were very delightful and helpful! And the caretaker was available when needed! We will and have already recommended this to our family and friends. We will go again!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners, sightseeing.
Owner response: I am pleased with this review. Please use it. Dr. Ransom B. Harris

My family and I stayed at Ransoms's Woods for 2 nights and it was a wonderful experience. The home was neat and clean, it had all the little extras of home along with plenty of space outside for the children to run and play. The home was a perfect amount of space for our family of 4 and we had everything we needed. We will certainly stay here again!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway, families with young children, people with disabilities, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, pet owners, sightseeing.

Tranquility is the correct word to describe Ransom's Woods. I grew up in Lenoir,NC and my stay reminded me so much of my childhood. I loved the cottage. It was much better than staying in a hotel room. I had room for my family to visit and to prepare meals. The owners of Ransom's Woods are two of the most wonderful people I have ever met. I hope the cottage will be available the next time I visit. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to get away from it all. However, they do have internet access if one needs to stay connected to their jobs or home.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1
