Poggio Al Sere is located between the towns of Dicomano and San Godenzo off the state highway 67, near the little village of Corella. It is in the territory known as The Mugello, an area in northern Tuscany, 40 kilometers north of Florence. The area of Mugello is a wide, green valley crossed in parts by the Sieve River, one of the major rivers that flow into the Arno River, Tuscany's principal river.
The Mugello is marked off in the north by the Tuscan-Emilia Romagna Apennines, in the south by the Monte Giovi peak and by Monte Senario and Monte Calvano in the west. The Mugello is striking because of its natural beauty and the diversity found in its landscape, which goes from rolling plains, to hills and to mountains. Mugello offers many interesting things to see and do which will please those who love nature and sports as well as those who are interested in the arts and culture of the area.

Why the Owner Chose San Godenzo
It was the light and the energy of this amazing landscape that caught my heart and took my breath away. I knew at that moment I had to live here! When I first stepped onto this property in 1999, I fell in love with the LAND and all of its treasures. Since then, we have lovingly restored every inch of the house and the surrounding areas. On this property is our home but we also have a beautiful little intimate guesthouse, attached to the main house, that we look forward to sharing with our traveling friends. We hope you will be one of them!
The Unique Benefits at this House
I love the peace and tranquility of The Mugello most of all. I also love the golden light and how is plays upon the trees and the mountains, especially at twilight time. The sunsets we have are glorious. I love how we have no light pollution and how at night we sleep so well with only the crickets and the breeze to lull us to sleep. The animal life is amazing. In one day, you can see deer, wild boar, rabbits, and pheasants, literally all in the meadows at once. Additionally, there are farms nearby with cows in the meadows and lambs in the fields. Giant cypress tress and pines surround the house and in the summer, the warm smell of cypress and pine is unforgettable. Nearby, there is hiking and mountain biking. We have bikes for your use. There is the famous racetrack in Scarperia for racing fanatics. There are water sports at a nearby lake plus great shopping for designer clothes at the famous Barbarino Outlet Shopping center. Historically, there are lots to see and learn about. Visit where Giotto was born and Dante spent his exile. In addition, there are the fabulous castles of the Medici’s that one can visit. Finally, yet importantly, there is the food and wine. This area is famous for its wine and gastronomic specialties. Chianti wine is made in this region and there are wonderful wine tasting experiences awaiting you. Come and join us!
Owner's Map of San Godenzo
Italy is a country full of incredible landscapes and The Mugello is one of its best kept secrets, which makes it a memorable vacation in this amazing countryside. I am delighted to be able to offer a comfortable and beautiful guest house to my guests. My husband and I chose to restore this guesthouse, attached our the main house as if we were going to live there ourselves. It is important to us that what we offer to ourselves we would offer to others. Every amenity and comfort is well thought out and we make sure that the guesthouse is clean and in excellent condition at all times. I take pride in meeting the needs of my traveling friends while helping to make their stay in The Mugello a memorable one. As I am a teacher, I enjoy imparting my years of experience through giving suggestions on food, wine and day trips to other Italian cities close by. It is important to me to put the needs and comfort of my guests first and I am honored to say that "Our house is your house !"
