Location: Diamond Head, South Oahu, Oahu, Hawaii, USA (walking distance to the heart of Waikiki) View Map
Accommodations: Condo, 2 Bedrooms + No additional sleeping rooms avail, 2 Baths (Sleeps 4)
Keywords: oceanfront, beachfront, ocean view, luxury
Our home is a beautifully furnished 2 bedroom/2 bath condo with a large lanai that sits directly above the gorgeous blue water of the Pacific Ocean. We call it the "Tree House" because our 6th floor location (elevator access) provides a view of the ocean framed by beautiful palm trees. Sitting on the lanai, you can watch surfers cruise across the waves and birds cruise through palm fronds. Add in a Mai Tai or two, if you want.
Our condo is spacious and comforting. We've filled it with everything you need to make wonderful meals, read great books, connect to the internet, relax with friends or even watch a sporting event on wide screen TV. Situated in a quiet, residential neighborhood called the "Gold Coast," our complex is the perfect location from which to explore the rest of Oahu, whether you love the nightlife of Waikiki or the powerful nature of the North Shore.
We visit our home in Honolulu as often as we can, so we don't rent it often. We never rent it for less than 1 month, nor for more than 6 months (we occasionally trade homes for a shorter period). It's perfect for a couple taking a long vacation or an executive needing a fully furnished, temporary place to live. There's no such thing as "off season" in Hawaii--it's always wonderful, no matter what time of year.

Breathtaking Oceanfront Retreat!
Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Diamond Head
We've been visiting Hawaii for 20+ years and always enjoying our time there. A friend called and told us of a condo available in a very desirable location in Honolulu, so we jumped on a plane to see it. We made an offer on the spot and the "Treehouse" became ours. The condo combines the comfort of a real home with the spectacular views and oceanfront access of a top resort. We can be outside surfing or kayaking in minutes, or we can curl up on the sofa and watch a movie on the big screen TV. We have lovely neighbors who live here year-round and an on-site property manager who keeps everything running smoothly.
The Unique Benefits at this Condo
The most unique benefit is that we are right on the water. If you stand on the lanai and look down, you will see the water's edge. At beach level, we have a private stretch of sand on one side and a sturdy stair into the ocean on the other. We launch surf boards, kayaks and stand up paddle boards right from the shore, or we hop in for a swim.
Another benefit is Kapiolani park and the surrounding attractions that are adjacent to our building. The park is directly across the street and includes the Waikiki Shell, an excellent concert venue. It also has a popular 2 mile jogging trail. Both the Honolulu Zoo and the Aquarium are quite good and within a 5 minute walk. If you're feeling ambitious, you can walk around Diamond Head in little under an hour.
As for benefits in the home itself, we have very comfortable high quality mattresses, a fully stocked kitchen, updated appliances and a fast internet connection. The furnishings are all new and chosen for comfort as well as style. All our windows can be opened so the breezes blow through and the awnings on the lanai can be raised or lowered as needed. The building is extremely well built. We've been here in winds over 70 miles an hour and never worried.
Owner's Map of Diamond Head
We have been married over 20 years and our most frequent vacations have been to Hawaii. We love all the islands, but for us Honolulu offers the best combination of relaxation, fun, food and activities. We bought our condo after many years of staying in different locations and trying other neighborhoods. We think we've found the perfect spot and we stay here as often as we can. When we're away, we're happy to share it with others, several of whom return every year.

We have a fantastic week-long stay at this nice condo right on the beach at Diamond Head. The location is ideal, located near Diamond Head just down from the Waikiki Aquarium, where we saw a great summer concert one evening. It's within 15 minutes of Waikiki, so if you want to do tourist stuff you can just walk down the beach. It's got easy access to local hotspots as well, when you want to get off the beaten path. The best thing: ocean right outside, for easy swimming, snorkeling or surfing. It's got a small but good kitchen and an outdoor BBQ grill, so we were able to cook in often to save a little money. Comfortable beds, cozy living room with satellite TV. Only problem we had was getting used to sleeping with surf breaking a few stories below us, but I'll take that as a problem any day!

This is our fourth stay at the Treehouse and we won’t stay anywhere else. The location is perfect for just about everything you would want to do: hiking, biking, sunning/swimming, great dining, the Zoo, the Aquarium, concerts at the Shell in Kapiolani Park and when you want the nightlife or beaches of Waikiki, you’re only a 10 minute walk away! If you don’t want to even walk that far, our favorite beach is at the Sans Souci hotel which is two doors away. The beach has a more local feel to it, which we prefer. The beautiful and eco-friendly decor immediately welcomed us and made us feel like we were home. Within minutes of unpacking and five minutes on the lanai, we felt like we had lived there forever (or at least wanted to live there forever)! The sound of the surf is amazing. The lanai is perfect for naps, mai tai’s, sunsets and whale-watching! During our last visit in March, we saw whales and pods of dolphins every morning! Truly amazing.
