Hello prospective renters !

I'm a fellow surfer in the Redondo Beach California area and hope you will come and enjoy our Villa in Nosara! This place is BRAND NEW! and everything in it is BRAND NEW! I've Just Purchased a very interesting vechicle called a Bajaj which is sort of like a 3 wheel golf cart with a roof over it and a surf board rack has been installed on each side. They drive them all over Asia! It can carry up to 3 people. which I am including at NO EXTRA CHARGE!. They usually rent for $50 a day down here! The money you will save on the Bajaj for a week is almost like getting my place for free! Its not in the pics yet but, I JUST HAD SURF BOARD RACKS INSTALLED ON THE Bajaj. 2 RACKS, ONE PER SIDE. Take it to the Beach, grocery store, wherever you like, whenever you like! just fill up the little gas tank for me when you leave:)I have some different size helmets. One for kids, and two adult sizes. I have also added a couple of doubles size air mattresses in case you have more people coming:)or more kids:)

The place has 1000 sq.ft. of interior space and 500 sq.ft. of patio. 2 beds ( both queen size), 2 baths with sunken whirlpool tubs. Granite & Stainless kitchen with a full complement of appliances, and a laundry room with a clothes washer/dryer. It’s on 1/4 acre with its own private pool that is fully tiled and graduated 4 to 6 feet!! It has super quiet split system a/c's with remote controls. There are 4 separate A/C's, one in each bedroom and two in the living room. The bedrooms have two very attractive ceiling fans and there are two in the living room as well.

You can do every kind of out door activity you can imagine, except snow sports!! You can hear the howler monkeys and parrots; you can completely open the front and sides of the Villa to be fully immersed in the jungle atmosphere. See the pictures here and then go to my website for Tons more, along with tips about what to bring on your trip to Nosara Costa Rica.

Please call me with any questions. Also,if you have a bigger party coming down, my neighbors here may be able to accommodate you so you can have two or more Villas that are adjacent to each other!! This place is a great value for the dollar, Brand New, and is very close to all the great activities the area has to offer.
To get here, you can fly into Liberia and drive 2 hours south. Or, you can fly into San Jose. From there it is a 4 1/2 hour drive but you can see some sceanic things along the way. From either airport now you can now take a small plane with Sansa or Nature air on to the small air strip right here in Nosara, having one of the three (in town) car rental agencies meet you there with a vehicle of your choice :)
You can even take a bus from San Jose for about $8 US dollars! Then hop on my Bajaj in Nosara and not even need to rent a car:)!

I hope you have a great vacation here and I will help in you any way that I can. I also have an excellent property management co. in Nosara that will take care of all your questions when you get here, and by e-mail or phone before you get here :) such as maid service, fun things to do. etc... they have been there many years and know the area well :)

You can call me any time on the numbers listed at the bottom:)
If you miss me leave me some good times to call you back:)
Pura Vida!
Dave Carroll
Redondo Beach (a Los Angeles suburb city in case you were wondering:) California
You will find at the house, two 24 speed mountain bikes., Suyrfboards- two epoxy tri fin boards 7'6" & 9'0, one 9'4" and one 8'0" fiberglass. Board rental in the area can be expensive, from $130 a week and up. Save your money and stay at my place!! My favorite and newest board is the bigger fiberglass board.
We are around a 12 min. drive to 4 beaches, its a little faster by car than the little Bajaj:) Also once you get used to the dirt roads you can go faster after a few days. But, hopefully after a few days, you can relax more, and be "OK" with not getting everywhere superfast:)! I've ridden the bicycle to the beach in 25 min.:) so that is an option for those not afraid of a little workout:)

Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2006

Hi there!
I'm a fitness trainer/wellness coach/surfer/nature lover/guitar player who lives in the Los Angeles California area.
I love Costa Rica and hope to be able to live there part of the year in the future.
I'm on the left and my buddy Martin who is a music producer in Santa Monica Ca is on the right.

Why the Owner Chose Nosara

This area has a really low key fun vibe, great surfing, beautiful nature with just the right amount of infrastructure. I'm into fitness and yoga and music and the whole vibe of the place fits me. It also attracts other people who I have a lot in common with:) I eventually am trying to figure out a way to live there part of the year and get out of this overcrowded and overly expensive area I currently live in.

The Unique Benefits of this Villa

I like Surfing, eating bannana pancakes, playing guitar, snorkleing,an occasional zip line:)
Yoga, Kirtan, jogging,& working on my Spanish is always fun:)
Besides being a great location with tons to do within a few mile radius, Its also a great home base to go visit the rain forrests, Arenal Volcaneo plus many more of the beaches along the coast of the Nicoya Penninsula. I've been to the last two Shiva Rea Yoga Retreats at the Blue Spirit in Garza which is just north of me. I've also been to a great yoga retreat in June of 2011 at my next door neighbors place the Costaricayogaspa. They are the next driveway down from me. There is also a new grocery store right at the Rasta Bridge which is super close to my Villa. less than 1Km. Feel free to call me for more info as I normally go once to twice a year for close to 7 years now:)

We loved Surf Monkey Villa!

Date of Stay: 11/25/11 Review Submitted: 12/12/11

We had an amazing time in Nosara and staying at Surf Monkey Villa. The house was perfect and made for a great experience in the jungle. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the pool, the minimalist lifestyle and the location. We had a few occasions where we lost power and water (as everyone there does) but we made due and had a great laugh about it. My only suggestion is to definitely rent a car. You'll want to drive to all the different areas of Nosara. The roads aren't the greatest but it adds to the charm of the town. The neighbors behind us were extremely nice and took us on a hike so we could see the ocean from our area. They didn't speak English and we don't speak Spanish but we communicated just fine. They even opened up coconuts for us to drink! If you're looking for things to do contact both Dave the owner of the house and Heidi at Nosara Travel. They offered great advice and we loved everything they suggested. Heidi took real good care of us and planned every day's activities perfectly. We ate at every place Dave suggested and loved all of them. I was very sad to leave and can only hope to come back real soon and stay at Dave's place and be around the amazing, friendly people of Nosara. This place won't disappoint you.

Absolutely Brand New! Surf Monkey Villa

Guest: Kitty and Dick (Port Townsend, WA, USA)
Date of Stay: 01/10/11 Review Submitted: 02/20/11

We spent the month of January at Surf Monkey and loved every minute of it. The pool was beautiful and very private. Other than the gardener, we seldom saw people. The house was roomy and all necessities had been provided. The plantings were lovely and made you feel like you were in a forrest. The monkeys in the morning and evening were delightful. The birds, butterflies and iguanas were lovely. We were disappointed that the 3 wheeled vehicle was not available. That would have been fun. It was also right on the main road, and the dust and noise were considerable. The location, between Guiones and Pueblo Nosara, was great! I would recommend the house to anyone.

Yes!!! Nosara is a great area and Surf Monkey was a super place to stay. The pics are accurate except that it's even more beautiful in real life. Monkeys were right outside the front door. We'd heard them but hadn't seen them for a couple of days. Finally!! It's really amazing seeing wild animals just hanging around, literally. Once you know how to spot them they are suddenly all around. As for Surf Monkey, it's clean and nice. The Balinese design is nice because the entire front half of the house opens up and become a giant patio by the pool. There's sunken jacuzzi baths in both bathrooms. Very relaxing. It's not right in Nosara, but that made it even easier to go north to the turtle beach. There we saw little baby turtles walking to the ocean under the full moon. Something we'll never forget. All in all I highly recommend Surf Monkey. There's 3 surfboards available plus a boogie board which saves rental fees from the surfboard shops. If you want to get away from it all and see more stars in the sky than you ever thought possible you couldn't find a better place.
