'Little Bay Getaway' is a great place to relax and enjoy the beauty of Lake Michigan, or to serve as a hub for your adventurous getaway vacation. Little Bay De Noc is the Walleye fishing capital of the world and is home to many major fishing tournaments. In addition to Walleye you can also fish for Salmon, Bass, Trout, Perch, and several other species. Charters are available locally or you can fish from the newly constructed fishing dock which is just a few minutes walk from the cottage.
In the winter months you will find Gladstone to be an ideal place for your skiing, snowboarding, ice fishing, or snowmobiling getaway. Snowmobiles are permitted on Gladstone city streets and local trails connect you to the rest of the Upper Peninsula and beyond. The recently renovated Gladstone Sports Park is perfect for beginner to intermediate downhill skiers and it boasts 3 rope tows, 1 wire, and 1 t-bar. It also has a snowboard run with a regulation half-pipe and an indoor chalet with concessions.
There is plenty to do in Gladstone and the surrounding area no matter what the season. Other activities include lighthouse tours, gambling, golf, cross-country skiing, ATV trails, wreck diving, etc. etc. etc. Just let us know what you are interested in and we will try to help you arrange an unforgettable getaway!
The 'Little Bay Getaway' is well-furnished and features both front and back decks to you can chose whether to enjoy the great view of Little Bay de Noc in the front or sit and relax under the trees in the large wooded back yard. Inside you will find a newly-remodeled kitchen and a large master bedroom with a sitting room to enjoy the view. The fold down couch in the living room is very comfortable and is a perfect spot for up to two children to sleep after a long day at the park. The bathroom includes a premium showerhead and full bathtub. There is even an acoustic guitar available for guests to use around the fire at night. This was truly an amazing place. We stayed over the weekend & had a wonderful time despite less than perfect weather. Communication with the host was above & beyond helpful. He even checked in during the weekend to make sure that everything was going well with our stay. He also gave suggestions for things to do, restaurants to try, & places to go. The photos do not even begin to do justice. This home is impeccably clean, perfectly decorated, & well outfitted with everything you might need during your stay. The location is absolutely perfect. There is an amazing park with trails & a beautiful lighthouse literally right outside your door. I would recommend this property to anyone looking for an awesome get away with all of the comforts of home.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

The "Little Bay Getaway" was the perfect spot to base ourselves for our upper peninsula excursions! The cottage itself was soooo comfortable and clean, with great amenities! In between our explorations, we did lots of cooking, reading, tennis playing and sitting around on the beach. There were also plenty of local grocery stores, diners, and movie theaters. Our favorite outings in the area were Fayette Park, Pictured Rocks, and Taq Falls, but there were so many other beautiful local smaller hikes and sites that we enjoyed as well. Highly highly recommended!Recommended for: Families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, romantic getaway.

We travel to the Escanaba/Gladstone area to visit family. The cottage provides a wonderful place for our family of four to relax at a place of our own. The kitchen remodel and utility upgrade are wonderful touches. The location of the cottage is great as well since it is across the street from an awesome playground and walking path. John is a great host, checking up to make sure everything is okay, but not smothering. And Ron is also very attentive without being overwhelming. All in all a nice experience.Recommended for: People with disabilities, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway.

Little Bay Getaway was the perfect spot for a relaxing vacation. The house was cozy and had everything I needed. The view of the lake and walking along the shoreline in several parks was wonderful. My husband and I stayed at Little Bay Get Away for our Honey Moon last Summer. Ron and Candice did EVERYTHING possible to make sure we had the best Honey Moon EVER (including a bottle of great wine waiting for us!)! We loved the cottage- it looked like something straight out of Better Homes and Gardens- yet made us feel very comfortable and right at home! Plus, the surrounding area of Gladstone is wonderful! We would highly recommend this lovely cottage. The owners have done a lot of updating. The furnishings are new as well as the carpet in living room and bedroom. There are also new kitchen and dining room floors. There is PLENTY of storage. Little Bay de Noc and Kiddie Kingdom are across the street as well as a walking/bike path. Downtown and a grocery are a short drive or can be biked or walked. There is always a breeze off Little Bay de Noc! The cottage is small but enough room for a family with the pull-out couch in living room and another single pull-out. What a lovely cottage! We had a wonderful time this weekend. The property is across from the park on Lake Michigan, making it ideal for fun as a family. It comfortably sleeps 4+ and has everything you need; full kitchen, comfortable living space, and large bedroom. The owners were very accomodating and friendly to work with. About the owner: We are both natives of the U.P. but currently reside in Fort Wayne, Indiana. We have two young boys that love to spend time with their grandparents in the Gladstone area.
Why the Owner Chose Gladstone:
We both spent a lot of time in Gladstone growing up and we love all that this little town has to offer. It's a great place to just hang out and enjoy the friendly local people and small town charm. It's a nice break from out otherwise hectic lives... a true 'getaway' for us.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The location is great because Van Cleve Park and Little Bay de Noc (Lake Michigan) are just across the street. The park is beautiful and it offers everything from a public beach (where the water is actually quite warm due to the shallow bay) to a kids playland, to a new public fishing dock. Little Bay de Noc is known as one of the best Walleye fishing areas in the country and there are local charters available. In the winter you can enjoy the Gladstone Ski Hill which also offers tubing, and snowmobiles are allowed on city streets to allow easy access to the extensive trail system. Gladstone is small enough that you can walk to a local restaurant for a meal or visit the charming specialty shops downtown.
