  The house is located very close to the ocean. Indeed you can hear the waves at night. The garden is delightful, the area is upscale, leafy and peaceful.It is also close to downtown and shopping. There are plenty of cups and plates in the kitchen (which is small but functional). However, the upstairs bathroom is very old and obviously needs work. The house was not properly cleaned, with noticeable dust on the light fixture in the living room. The sheets in one bedroom required replacement due to chlorine stains and generally looking worn out. The window in one bedroom and in the upstairs bathroom could not have been closed completely and required a visit form a handyman. The house was cold (we arrived late in the evening). The TV remote had problems. Nobody bothered to turn on the heating in the house. Generally, I feel, nobody walked around and checked the house to make sure everything was in order. I needed to call the manager three days in a row (we stayed a week) with different issues that gradually becoming apparent. The management was very responsive, returned all calls and dealt with the issues as fast as it was possible and eventually solved all problems to our satisfaction. All in all we enjoyed our stay but I do not think I will rent this house again.

  We rented this house for father's day with our triplet boys and brought our nanny with us. The house was very clean and plenty of linens, pillows etc. Not a large kitchen, but perfect for us...plenty of dishware, utensils etc. The owners called to see if there was anything we needed. The yard was perfect for the kids, the large veranda was wonderful just to have coffee/pastries in the morning and drinks in the evening. Beach is very close and beautiful. My husband and I stayed in the master bedroom...could hear the waves at night and the bed was super comfy; nice linens. Our boys slept in the king sized bed in the 2nd bedroom...it was "their room"; they loved it! Our nanny had the separate quarters downstairs which was great! My husband was going to take me out to dinner Sat. night after Sea World, we loved the house so much we just decided to stay "home" and cook and relax. Next time we'll skip Sea World and just go to the beach. We all want to return to "Our La Jolla House" soon!

  La Jolla is my favorite place to vacation and we were so excited when we found this beautiful, rustic, Spanish style home to available to rent that was only 1 block from the beach. We had a fabulous time. We shared the rental home with our close neighbor's family as well. There were 4 children - ages 4 to 9. The kids adored the large back yard and had a super time playing outside. We were fully able to relax and cook out most evenings. The house felt like a home. Numerous windows and doors that allowed the cool breeze to go through the house. The way the house is set up with a separate nanny room downstairs worked perfectly for privacy when sharing the home with another family. We had a little issue with the dryer and when we called someone came out immediately to take care of it. What customer service! We rated our experience "Super" and would be very interested in going back again. Enjoy... "we did"

It is located just one house back from a beautiful beach (a lot closer to the ocean than we figured) and it took us just a few short minutes to get from the front door down to the sand. Also it was really nice to have plenty of room for parking our two cars. The kitchen is small and it would be tough for two chefs to simultaneously cook meals, but the rest of the house is spacious and very cozy. I would certainly recommend others to stay at this particular property.
