Christmas in the mountains and on the river! Book for Christmas and we will provide a real tree and decorations. Just request them when making reservations.
A PICTURE REALLY IS WORTH A THOUSAND WORDS, AND A VIDEO IS WORTH A WHOLE LOT MORE: See our 2009 YouTube videos of all of our Steel Bridge river cabins, as well as our Bucktail 3BR/2BA cabin, by clicking on LINKS TO MORE INFORMATION at the bottom of this page. That will take you to our web site, which is filled with pictures and information.
Alpen Glow is our grandest cabin. It's located on a meadow bordered by huge trees and the river, complete with a rope swing and a salmon hole. All of the cabins in this very private 1 1/2 acre location offer great fishing. See the comments below by Michael Caranci of The Fly Shop in Redding.
BRAND NEW FALL 2009: Alpen Glow's kitchen just got a gorgeous tile floor.
Trinity River Adventure Inn's "Alpen Glow" is on the Trinity River between Lewiston and Douglas City. It's one of our 5 great cabins on the river; part of a four cabin complex on prime Trinity River frontage. We have everything from a romantic Miner's Cabin @ $115/night to a 3 BR/2 BA cabin @ $165/night. Coming Fall 2009: Our 6th cabin, "Trout," an incredible little log cabin in a sylvan river setting.
Because you can rent all four cabins here, this is a dandy location for reunions and company off-sites). You're close enough to mix with everyone else, but not too close. Alpen Glow's large kitchen, dining and living areas can accommodate large numbers.
Alpen Glow is a grand 2 BR/2 BA A-frame; it has a huge kitchen, large dining area and expansive living room with a cozy gas fireplace. It features an enormous deck with a 10' by 10' covered dining enclosure with a fog mister in summer.
KITCHEN: Almost anything you might want can be found in this kitchen. It has a large center island, dishwasher, nice side by side refer/freezer with ice maker, a vast pantry both in the kitchen and the adjoining mud room, 4 burner gas Jenn-Air cook top, wall oven, microwave, coffee maker, full cookware and dining set, several small appliances.
MASTER LOFT: The spacious master loft has a private bathroom, double vanity, a private deck and a Jacuzzi tub in the middle of the loft that looks out onto the mountains, trees and sky. There is a fantastic CalKing log bed, a queen futon, a sitting area, a built-in day bed and a cozy wood stove.
MAIN BEDROOM: Located next to the large, full bath, this bedroom has two twin beds with room for an air bed or sleeping pads (provided).
Furnishings are tasteful with many antiques. There is a TV with a large, quality video selection, and a stereo with an MP3/iPod adapter. The library is extensive and interesting.
We offer kayak and raft rentals, lessons and guided trips. We supply everything you need and you can paddle to or from your door on gentle meanders with some mild but still fun rapids; or you can paddle on Lewiston Lake, which is stunning and has great trout fishing.
Michael Caranci of The Fly Shop in Redding says of our cabins:
"For sheer seclusion, access, and cozy, comfortable accommodations, the cabins at the Trinity River Adventure Inn are certainly among the best."

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Steph Dutton is a world-renowned kayaker who paddled from Canada to Mexico, then paddled the Oregon coast again, in the winter. He also circumnavigated California's Channel Islands, often enduring thirty foot seas. Heidi Tiura owned and ran several businesses before running away to sea and working on tug boats in Alaska, Washington and Oregon. Steph and Heidi are both Coast Guard licensed masters, and creators of Sanctuary Cruises on the Monterey Bay. They have been featured in numerous books and documentaries for their work with whales (including National Geographic's "Whale Attack," which was based on their Mother's Day 2004 whale watching cruise).
Now, they live on the upper Trinity River and their kayak adventures are of a tamer sort. When not rafting or kayaking with their dogs and guests, they can usually be found on their motorcycles, because Trinity County has some of the best roads in the world for riding bikes.
Why the Owner Chose Douglas City
Trinity County has the unbeatable combination of great natural beauty, incredible recreation opportunities, and it hasn't been overrun by tourists. People who have come here for twenty years remark at how little has changed. It is a spectacular place to explore.
The Unique Benefits of this Cabin
Being on the river has to be one of the most relaxing things there is up here. Whether you fish, paddle, want to try the rope swing into the swimming hole, or just sit and watch the fish swim by, it is a wonderful escape to have a cabin right on the water.

[We received all of these comments together from our guests. This was the third Memorial Day Weekend in a row for Andy and Allison, our first offical guests after we opened Trinity River Adventure Inn.] As always, great." "Our adult daughter loved it here. She hasn't gone fishing since she was a child and she really had a blast catching trout from the raft." "River raft was extremely beautiful." "We love you guys! Meals: gourmet." "We liked everything about our stay and cabins [Alpen Glow and Carriage House]. The only thing we would do differently is stay longer!" "We absolutely loved this place! It's definitely a keeper."

My wife Kerry and I, along with some friends, were fortunate enough to spend a couple of nights recently staying at the Trinity River Adventure Inn, specifically the Alpen Glow and Carriage House cabins. We enjoyed our stay immensely, spending much of our time simply relaxing and enjoying the beautiful scenery and tranquility of the Trinity River flowing just past the back deck. Of course, we made sure to wet a line, too, with some great success in the productive steelhead runs accessible only from the Trinity River Adventure Inn cabins. As a long time Trinity River angler and guide, and the Director of Outfitters for The Fly Shop in Redding, I've had the opportunity over the years to visit many of the different motels, lodges, and cabins along the Trinity River. For sheer seclusion, access, and cozy, comfortable accommodations, the cabins at the Trinity River Adventure Inn are certainly among the best. Steph's handiwork and painstaking care of the cabins is apparent, while I'm still savoring Heidi's crab dip on my taste buds weeks after the trip! "Wow, wow, wow!" [Alpen Glow] was clean, beautiful, well equipped, and cozy. The grounds equaled the house and had the added attributes of tree swings, a nice lawn, and oh yeah, a stunning view and proximity to the river. I can't wait to come back with Terri." Scott Lewis/Larkspur, CA

[We added the 4 Steel Bridge cabins to Trinity River Adventure Inn spring/2008. Here are comments received before we listed on vrbo.] THANK YOU for a wonderful location for our family reunion [all of the Steel Bridge cabins]. My favorite part of the trip was the kayaking – thanks for making this possible. We’ll sort through our pictures and send you some on the rope swing – it was the highlight of the location for the kids. I would definitely recommend this location to others – it was convenient, comfortable, well-equipped, and beautiful. THANKS AGAIN! Gayle Kuokka/Palo Alto, CA
