We are from Edinburgh, Scotland when we are in Rockport this our Beautiful home. On the waterfront , on a canal a few yards from the intercoastal, we have lovely views from the decks and many of the rooms. Our home has lot of special touches to make your vacation special. It is a luxury house for indoor and outdoor living - what can be more relaxing than watching the sun go down on the deck alfresco dining with your family, the fish jumping in the water, the pelicans flying overhead and a glass of wine in your hand.
Our home has everything you need for your family vacation including a games room with a pool table, bar, variety of board games, games console and Wireless Internet access. Should you prefer more activity there are 4 bicycles with lots of flat safe roads to ride on beside the water, a ping pong table in the garage for the super keen for those family tournaments.
A favorite activity is of the area is fishing, which can be done from the deck with an amazing range of fish to be caught. Sea trout straight from the canal to the bar-b-que, what could be better than that! If you have your boat with you use the boat lift or moor along side the dock, there’s plenty of room. The famous Estes flats is just outside the canal entrance, pop out and wet a line.
All bedrooms have flat screen TVs (with cable), keep the kids happy, then you are happy right? The master bedroom has a large en-suite with a separate shower, freestanding bath, his and her closets. We've taken the time to collect lots of information about what you can do in Rockport and the surrounding area, you'll find a book with lots of up to date information to make you stay in the Rockport area, and even more enjoyable at Buttercup House.

Hello, my name is Audrey Rodger, I am Scottish and I live in Edinbugh Scotland with my family. I hope you enjoy our second home as much as we do, we try to come as often as possible. We have left the management of our property in the capable hands of a local rental managment company so everything runs smoothly. We love this house its really special to us and we have furnished it with tender loving care and with everything we would want when we come to our home. Audrey
Why the Owner Chose Rockport
Lots of people have asked us how we managed to find ourselves such a long way from home and how we found Buttercup House. Its an interesting story and buying a house in the United States, never mind Texas was a surprise to us too! Last year we went to Mexico with friends for a few days and therafter went to stay in Rockpoert Texas for 5 days to finish our vacation. We stayed in a rented house on a canal and whilst there kept looking at this lovely house with great big eves, big decks and absolutely lovely views, we found it just beautiful & peaceful. The 4th day - the day before we were due to leave we had a look inside the house, it was everyhting we could possibly have imagined & fell in love with it straight away.....so much so we bought it and have never looked back. This was a totally unexpected thing for us to do we werent looking for another home but when we saw it we knew this was meant for us. It takes us almost 24hrs to get there with a number of flight changes but we plan to bring our family over at every available opportunity.
The Unique Benefits of this House
We have big decks on more than one level, there is a boat lift & boat dock so you are welcome to bring your boat or you can rent one locally. By the boat dock is fish cleaning stand and outdoor shower. There is some of the best fishing in Texas in the area so you can go out into the intercoastal waters or fish straight off the dock. There are lots of dophins around & one of our guests said there was one swimming in the canal outside our home in the summer! We have a fish room in the garage with a freezer especially to store your catch. We have bicycles and kayaks & life jackets to be used by our guests. There are lots of trails to use the kayaks, when we first arrived last year we went out on the double kayak to one of the tiny little islands & had a lovely picnic. Our house is great for entertaining & indoor or outdoor living. We have a games room so the guys can get together in the evening for a bit of healthy competition on the pool table. We have cable table in all rooms also flat screen TVs. WIFI access is available in the house & on the deck. Downtown Historic Rockport is only a few minutes away with lots to do: resturaunts, quaint little shops including antique shops. Theres a beach 5 miles from our house. Rockport has supermarkets so you can stock up on all your needs. Its a great place here for adults & children of all ages & you can be as active or as chilled out as you like. I hope you enjoy all our house and the area has to offer as much as we do Audrey
