This house is completely sufficient and functional for a big group, but lots of little things made it not as nice as it could be. The ad suggests that you don't need to bring towels because all linens and towels are provided. Unfortunately our group followed these instructions and were surprised to find that there were insufficient towels provided, and the towels that were provided were very small and thin. There were quite a few other very small things that made the stay less enjoyable than it could have been: multiple lamps that were broken, light bulbs that were blown or just missing, we couldn't figure out how to control the temperature, there was no hand soap provided in the kitchen, a pull out sofa was half-broken with the mattress falling through, there was only one frying pan in the kitchen (to feed everyone in a place that sleeps 14, I would think more than one frying pan would be provided), and the owner sent us directions to the wrong house. These are all fairly minor concerns, but they add up. That being said, the house has some lovely benefits. It has a working dishwasher. There are good instructions for testing the hot tub to make sure the water is good with instructions about which chemicals to add for different test results. It has a shower upstairs and a bath/shower downstairs, both of which worked well. It has plenty of room for parking cars. The stream behind the house provided for a really nice hike behind the property. Although the house is right on Route 100 it is set back just far enough that it doesn't feel like it's on the major road. Also, being right across the street from the general store is very convenient. There is an extensive VHS movie collection.
Owner response:We thank this group for sharing issues they had while staying in our home, because we always want our guests to have a wonderful, worry-free vacation experience. Our property manager is available 24/7 and could have remedied their problems swiftly -- but they never contacted us or called him during their stay. As soon as we found out about the broken sofabed it was prepared, but the renters waited until after they left to complain. We could also have easily told them how to control the three-zone heating system, designed to keep every area of the house cozy and warm on cold winter nights. Again, they didn't ask! The lamps are being repaired (most just needed to be plugged in), and a towel and kitchen pot inventory is being taken (although new towels and pots and pans were purchased just before the winter season). We work hard to maintain our home to the highest standards and are immediately responsive to guests when they contact us. We can't, however, help people who "suffer in silence" and wait till after they have left to complain. The Little Brook House at Echo Lake is welcoming and ready to go for future renters. If you run into any issues during your stay, we encourage you to contact our property manager right away!

My friends and I just got back from a weekend stay at the Little Brook house and it was great. The house was big and very clean and slept the 12 of us easily. Lots of things to do in the summer. The front yard was big and the owners had a volleyball net, badminton, and even a horseshoe pit. The back deck was nice and secluded with a running brook going right through the yard, and the hot tub was great even in the warm weather. The house is minutes away from the lake and there is ton to do in the area. I plan a weekend trip every year and these owners were a pleasure to deal with. I definately recommend the house to anyone going up to the area in any season.

I just wanted to let you know my family had a wonderful week at the Little Brook House. There was room for all of us. We enjoyed the Brook but all the rain we have had this Spring and Summer has made it a raging brook!! The man at the Tyson Village Store said it’s usually a calm stream at this time of year!We had one full day and night of torrential rains and an afternoon and night. We got to sit out and play in the yard with our grandchildren. We used your list of 20+ favorite things to do also. We had stayed in the area the previous 2 years and had already done some but found quite a few new suggestions. We actually saw a moose at the crossing! We will probably head back to the Echo Lake area next year and hope your home is available for us.

Thank you very much for sharing your Home with us. My mother and grandmother and I had a wonderful time. We loved the Brook out back and the Jacuzzi( which we didn't think we would even use!). Vermont sure is beautiful and I enjoyed my morning runs aided by your suggestions in that very helpful info book! Thanks Again, Lisa

Just wanted to say thank you, we had a great weekend at the Little Brook House. The January thaw didn't bring the best ski conditions, but it did cause the brook behind the house to be running full speed, which was just spectacular while sitting in the hot tub. We may come calling again next season!

I just wanted to say "thank you" from our group! We had a fantastic time at the little brook house and truly loved every minute of our stay. Everyone skiied on Saturday when we were lucky enough to get a little snow, and we spent the rest of the weekend just playing games, watching football, and enjoying some of the great titles from your movie collection (Silverado was a real hit!). It was also very nice to be able to sit back and relax in the hot tub on the back deck. We made great use of the kitchen, although I think we ate waaaay too much, and we had a fire roaring the entire time we were there. All in all, we were more than pleased and are already talking about possibly returning next year.

We had a FANTASTIC time at Brook House this past weekend!!! The house was just as described. We all had a great time hiking up along the brook, the waterfalls were so beautiful. The weather was a perfect 70 degrees everyday, so we were able to sit out on the back deck and enjoy listening to the brook, and sat out front just to hang out. Thanks too for the list of things to do, that was a great idea. We had such a great time that we are thinking of coming up during the summer!! I'm leaving feedback on your site to let everyone know what a great place Brook House is to stay at. Thanks again, Sincerely, Gail

We had a wonderful time and loved the house. It is great for family gatherings. Fourteen of us were able to eat together in the expansive kitchen. Each family took a different night and cooked for the rest of us. It was great fun. The divided living room gives a place for different activities but still be together. We hiked up the creek and saw the beautiful waterfalls and lots of mushrooms. Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful place with others. Sincerely, Marilyn

I’m writing to say thank you for use of the house; we all had a great time. The house was comfortable, and also really warm. We also got much use out of the kitchen, and much enjoyment and healing from the hot tub - the place was as advertised. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and I hope we can do business again in the future.

The house was great and so was the hot tub even though at first people were scared to go in because it was soooo cold outside. But after they got in, they loved it. Thanks so much!

We all had an amazing weekend. Everything inside the house was great, not to mention the millions of day hikes 10 feet off your back porch. With our work schedule, it's nearly impossible for us to get out and relax, but when we do, expect a call from us. WE WILL BE BACK.

Thank you so much for facilitating the wonderful weekend at Little Brook. My friends and I really enjoyed ourselves. We especially loved the waterfall and the easy access to so much gorgeous walking and hiking. The hottub provided a lovely soak beneath the stars. I loved Little Brook House and hope to go back again soon. I am also spreading the word around to all my Farm and Wilderness friends. What a perfect location for camp families! Thanks again for the wonderful weekend. I very much hope we can return.

Lisa, Thank you so much for the use of the Little Brook House, we had a wonderful week! The house seemed to be in good shape and clean when we got there. We never needed to call the property management but they did stop by a few times during the week. As I said we truly enjoyed ourselves and can't think of anything I'd change. Thanks again.

Our group of seven adults and four kids stayed at the Little Brook House in October. It's a lovely house. There's a wonderful, private hot tob on the the rear deck next to the brook. There's great hiking on the mountain right out back and the facilities in the house are very nice. There was room to spare for our group and everyone enjoyed their stay.

Hi Lisa, We really did enjoy our visit to your home. It was quite comfortable and really had everything we needed to have a pleasant stay. Your home's location and setting was very nice. While there were neighbors all around, we never noticed them and being on the deck behind the house made us feel very remote. (We also liked the fact that the country store was just across the street.) The brook rushing by the house was especially appreciated and enjoyed. The house was comfortable and pleasant. The kitchen was quite functional and the eating space was plenty large for most groups. You had it nicely stocked so we weren't without anything we needed or wanted. The two living rooms were comfortable and had lots of seating, a good number of lights and your fireplace worked great. (Thanks for all the wood.) (Heating system worked very well by the way and kept the house warm.) The washer/dryer were appreciated but the washer is really noisy. (HOMEOWNER'S COMMENT: We have replaced this washer.) The hot tub was wonderful. 3 of the 4 of us used it all the time and the dog was very jealous of us as she was obviously not allowed in it. We appreciated the variety of movies and watched several. We also appreciated the Christmas tree stand and used it for a small tree we brought with us. All in all a very comfortable home for the week.

We loved the house. It was very accommodating. Great for kids. There were toys, high chair, pack-n-play. Also a TV, DVD, VCR, Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher. It was very peaceful. The hottub was relaxing and the brook which runs in the back of the house added to the ambience. Although the house is on a main road (Route 100), it is set back so the kids have plenty room to play in the front yard. The bedrooms are separated throughout the house, so there is plenty of privacy. Definately great for a 10-12 people. It had more room than we expected -- sleeps 10 in their own private bedrooms plus it has a pull out couch.

The house was perfect for a group of friends who want to ski and then have fun together in a laid back manner. There was plenty of room for all. The hot tub, W/D, DVD, TV were all working well. Water pressure is an issue.

I just wanted to say thank you for renting the house on Echo Lake to me. I was very impressed with the way Lisa (the owner) handled everything. She was very cooperative and thoughtful, providing excellent directions, as well as suggestions for things to do. The house was SO nice; clean hot tub, fresh linens, games, DVD player, firewood, plenty of places to sleep, etc. It exceeded my expectations. My friends and I had a GREAT time, and we look forward to returning next winter.

We went up to the Little Brook House for the week of New Year's, and things were perfect. The house was everything it was advertised to be. It was as big as they said it would be, and even had a Pull-out sofa that made a double bed. The house and hot tubs were very clean, and the beds all had fresh linens. Also, there is a Washer and Dryer, so we were able to maintain cleanliness. There was firewood, and parking enough for 8-10 cars. The house is located close to Okemo, as well as Killington. All in all, we had a very enjoyable time at the Little Brook House. Thanks Lisa

I recently spent a ski weekend at this house with a few friends. It was very well located, about 10 mins. from Okemo, and about 20 to Killington. The owner worked with me to arrange everything, and made it very easy to make reservations. Th house itself was very nice and spacious, everyone enjoyed their stay. I strongly recommend this house to anyone looking for a place to stay in Vermont.
