Fall is not far away. Come and enjoy the fall colors and the wonderful cool weather.

The Barn at Cold Mountain was once a utility barn used during the construction of the gated community of Lost Cove. It was used for many years by it's previous owners as the "party barn" for the holidays and the "Superbowl". The "Barn" is centrally located only minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Asheville and the Biltmore House, Maggie Valley and the Ghost Town amusement park and the Cherokee Indian Reservation with it's Harrah's casino. The town of Waynesville offers a unique shopping experience in a quaint small town atmosphere. There is skiing in the winter time, hiking and bike riding in the summer and fall and for the motorcycle enthusiast the "Tail of the Dragon" is just a short ride away.

The "Barn" offers you peace and quiet from the everyday hustle and bustle of the city. Satellite TV is located on each floor. Enjoy a cozy evening by the wood-burning stove in the living room (firewood supplied) or while challenging your guests to a game of cards at the table in front of the window overlooking the mountains.

It is just 12 minutes up a scenic winding road to the entrance of the Blue Ridge Parkway and many walking trails, mountain biking trails, ATV and dirt bike trails, driving trails, mountain overlooks, streams and waterfalls and other adventures. Visit the locals at the Bethel Grocery store just 2 miles away. They offer all your last minute shopping needs such as fresh local vegetables, eggs, milk, bread, etc. Take a 25 mile, 45 minute ride to The Great Smoky Mountain National Park in Cataloochee Valley. Arrive at dusk to see the elk come out in abundance to graze before retiring for the evening. If you prefer you can browse the numerous shops and have dinner in one of the cafés in quaint downtown Waynesville only 10 miles away. Asheville and the Biltmore Estates are just minutes away. Horseback riding, hiking, skiing, tubing, site seeing, shopping, and more await you.

Here is a quick overview of the "Barn": Two bedrooms, one king, one queen. Two full baths, (upstairs) with a claw foot tub (downstairs) with a shower. Central heat and air, wine cellar, washer and dryer, HD TV with High Definition satellite downstairs and satellite TV in upstairs queen bedroom. Table with seating for 4 for cards and conversation, seating in the great room for 7, dining table with seating for 10, Viking 48" professional gas stove, large refrigerator with ice and water, dishwasher, disposal, wood stove with wood supplied, telephones in both bedrooms and family room, patio with table and chairs and a gas grill and fire pit. The "Barn" is fully equipped with most everything you could need.

Owner's Map of Waynesville

Paula and I moved here from Orlando Florida when I retired from the Fire Department. We purchased our log home from former clients of our lawn business in Orlando and later purchased the Barn when they decided to sell it and turned it into a rental. Waynesville and the surronding area is beautiful and there is much to do and see. We hope you can join us.

    • the place was nice, and it use to be kid suitable, but they lied about that...just a little tiny site of a kid being a kid they will kick you out no problem not even thinking that you have a 6 month old and your all the way from alaska, and only know atleast one person there. and wont give you your money back............ now just ask them what damages there were...its PATHETIC! oh but the house was beautiful..the renters are horrible mean people.

      Homeowner Response:
Actually there were 3 children staying and they treated the place like a McDonalds playground. They were asked to leave after being given a warning which did nothing to change their behavior. As for a refund they had already stayed a week and had paid for only a week and were given an additional week as a promotional event. Also, I never charged them the $300 security deposit which by rights I should have. They are the reason we decided to become "not child friendly". Also we are not "mean" people just people who expect their property to be treated with respect.

    • We had the pleasure of staying at the Barn, 3/6-3/9. It was the PERFECT weekend getaway. The owners did a fabulous job of making sure every need was met, from the fully-equipped kitchen to toiletries to very comfortable beds. It was hard to leave! We definitely plan to return and highly recommend this wonderful place to anyone!

    • Our two week stay at "The Barn" included sharing Thanksgiving with family, touring the Biltmore in all her Christmas finery, shopping in quaint Waynesville and exploring much of western North Carolina. The Barn provided a great home base - all the comforts of home and in some cases even nicer than home. The owners had a warm fire burning in the wood-stove to welcome us on our arrival and were very helpful and friendly. We look forward to returning to "The Barn".

    • Our expectations were exceeded when we entered the Barn. All of the amenities were certainly much more than we had experienced at other rental locations. We had a great stay and got to see many of the local sights. It was a great time. We hope to return in the future.

    • My husband and I were thoroughly pleased with our weekend stay. The location, amenities - particularly, attention to the details - and all around feeling of the barn certainly made it a great stay for us. We will no doubt be going back. The hosts were also very helpful.

    • Comment Text: When we decided to combine a mini vacation with my husband's business trip to Ashville, we knew we could have a much more memorable trip by renting a vacation home. We were happy to find the THE BARN and very pleased with all of the upscale appointments. With the gourmet kitchen and outdoor grill, it was a joy to cook ‘in’ and dine on the patio or front porch and listen to the babbling creek and mountain rain. I decided to forgo Asheville and the many mountain activates and just relax in our lovely vacation home. We want to thank our very helpful hosts for providing our excellent (and sparkling clean) accommodations. We like rentals that become our destination and we have found several of these "REAL GEMS" on VRBO!

    • I really feel lucky to have found this place. If you appreciate attention to detail, all the amenities of home, a kitchen fit for a chef, extremely comfortable beds and seating then this is the place for you. We had such a relaxing time all while being within a few miles of many Blue Ridge Parkway attractions. And the hosts are local and will help with anything you need. My friends and I hope to visit the Barn again soon!
