In the heart of Massachusetts’ Berkshires cultural area, with music, theater, dance, museums, and historic homes, B-flat Woods is three miles from Tanglewood, summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, and a short drive from Jacobs' Pillow, a rustic summer dance festival theater. B-flat Woods is located three miles from Stockbridge and four miles from Lenox, two lovely villages with fine dining, shops, and art galleries.

This Non-Smoking house is on the shore of Stockbridge Bowl (a.k.a. Lake Mahkeenac), with lake access for swimming and canoeing. A sturdy fiberglass canoe is here for your use. More than ten acres of peaceful woods, fields, and lakefront await you for hiking, swimming, fishing, canoeing, or snowshoeing.

The house has 2400 square feet of shaded, well-kept, peaceful living space that sleeps up to eight. A private Master Suite with fireplace, dressing area, spacious closets, TV, CD/radio, full bath, and a lovely view of the woods is on the first floor, off the living room.

A cathedral-ceilinged open living area with a large, cozy fireplace, a great stereo, and TV with DVD, VCR, and cable leads to a dining area that can accommodate up to twelve around a solid wood table with comfortable padded chairs. Off the living area is a well-stocked library, with books ranging from masterpieces to mystery to music. Also off the living area is a screened-in porch with chaise lounge, chairs, lamp, and a table.

Next to the dining area is a fully-equipped kitchen with all utensils, dishes, refrigerator, freezer, dishwasher, and even a large selection of spices and herbs. The kitchen looks out on a flowered parking circle where the driveway ends in a carport that adjoins the side entrance to the house. Off the kitchen is a laundry room with a modern washer and dryer, detergent and other supplies for your use.

A dramatic, enclosed spiral staircase leads to the second floor that has two guest rooms, one with twin beds, the other with a double bed and a trundle bed. A full bathroom is located between the two bedrooms. A balcony that overlooks the large living space is furnished as a sitting area, well-stocked with cards and other games.

  • We certainly enjoyed our stay at this ideally located hideaway. Choices were difficult here. Should we enjoy a quiet evening in front of the fireplace or take a short drive to one of the many fabulous restaurants nearby. Should we take a hike in the crisp clean air or go canoeing. Do we explore the rich cultural opportunities close by and in every direction or just look out the windows and appreciate the natural setting. Delightful dilemmas....a great spot!

  • Look no further for a rental in the Berkshires! Thanksgiving 2004 found our family enjoying Roy and Lauren's incredibly warm, spacious and handicapped-friendly home for a week's reunion. We needed a rental that was able to accommodate my 90-year-old mother, who has many special needs. B-flat Woods was perfect. It's hard to say what we enjoyed the most: the wonderfully open layout of the house .... the unbelievable master bedroom suite on the first floor .... the fabulous views .... the unusual privacy of the lot .... the fun birdwatching .... all the supplies so generously shared by the Komachs .... It was a Thanksgiving our family will always remember with great joy. Thanks, Komachs, for sharing your spectacular corner of the Berkshires with us!

  • Very positive. We had a wonderful winter family reunion at this house. It was warm, comfortable, and had all amenities. The kitchen was very well stocked for cooking, and there was room for several cooks. We loved the quiet and the gorgeous view. It would also be a perfect summer vacation spot.
