Set on a hill with beautiful views of the Green Mountains and surrounded by fields on an active farm, this lovely and snug house offers easy access to three major downhill ski areas,several x-country ski areas and other trails. The open fields around the house offer near snowshoe and ski opportunities.Discern the tracks of local wildlife and our highland cattle and watch the bird feeders.Return from wherever to a cozy warm house.

Weston is the nearest village and home of the Vermont Country Store. Londonderry has a nice shopping center and restaurants. The area has a good selection of fine dining. However the house has a nice kitchen and dining area and is quite comfortable for entertaining your guests and friends. Manchester offers discount shopping, Orvis fishing store, the Equinox Hotel and the Northshire Book Store. Ludlow is over the hill to the East for shopping and dining. But after a day of active outdoor activity, returning to the house may be the final and best resort.

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 1971

As a skier working in NYC, purchased farm in 1971 for weekend and vacation use. My two boys called it home even we never lived there fulltime until retirement in 1999.
All buildings are on their original footprint with substantial improvement. The horsebarn became a guest house in 1985; the pond was excavated in 2000. The house dates to 1820, the barn to 1835 and the slate roof was applied in 1890. All of the several gardens have been mulched and put to bed for the winter; the snowblower tuned

Why the Owner Chose Weston

We converted an 1890 horsebarn with hay loft to an open first floor with powder room and concealed laundry and the second has two bedrooms with closets, a large bathroom and added hallway storage. There is a native stone patio and charcoal grill with expansive views and nearby Highland cattle. The attached garage with ski racks and an entrance within to the furnace and boot room, and then to the house.

The Unique Benefits of this House

This is a quiet and idyllic country setting with all of the conveniences of home. Several term renters ended up buying their own property.
