Why the Owner Chose Smith River

This site is so spectacular we were hooked as soon as we saw it! The cabin is so close to the ocean that everyone that visits is amazed at its proximity. The view from the living room and deck of the ocean are just special. The sound of the surf and the pounding waves on the rocks below make this very mesmerizing. In addition to the rocks and beach area in front of the cabin, there are miles of sandy beach to enjoy walks, beachcombing, tidepools to the north and south. So you have the best of ocean, surf, rocks and beach to enjoy.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin

Sea life and tidepools, relaxing, walking on the beach, riding bicycles up the Winchuck River or north or south on Ocean View Drive, searching for the perfect rock or seashell and watching sunsets are a few of the things we enjoy from what we think is the perfect location. Saturday's we like the Farmer's Market in Harbor, Oregon, especially when they have kettle corn!! Winter brings roaring surf and pounding storms which hit our cabin first, as we are ocean front and center. We stay warm and cozy while watching and listening to the amazing display.

A
Ancient Mariner Ocean Front Cabin

Right on the Pacific Ocean! View and access to the beach doesn't get any better than this. Come and enjoy a break from the routine.

Owner's Map of Smith River

We both grew up on the coast and enjoy the beautiful Pacific Ocean. We can hardly believe we now own a beach house of our own which we can share with others. The views are spectacular and the sunsets breathtaking--we always stop and watch the sunset.

    • What a lovely time we had at the Ancient Mariner. What a wonderful surprise when the physical location is better than what the pictures showed. The bed was comfy! The view was incredible. Sitting in the hot tub, sipping a lovely glass of wine, listening to the waves crashing below. Nirvana!!! Came back to work and after telling my co-workers about my trip, ended up sharing this property info with 3 of them! Thank you for making our get-away perfect. Oh and thanks to the owners for telling us about the Hungry Clam (Brookings-Harbor)-we ended up going there three days in a row! The BEST clam chowder......

    • We stayed at a few renatl properties during this year's vacation. This one really made us feel at home. Everything you need is right there. The view is outstanding. Our kids loved their own "room" upstairs. We will be back.

    • We enjoyed our stay so much. What a nice place! It was very cozy, clean, and relaxing and you can't beat the view and the sound of the waves. It was so nice to be able to just walk down to the beach whenever we wanted. It was so hard to leave. We hope to go back again.

    • We went to this quaint little cabin on the coast for our honeymoon. We enjoyed our time very much looking out at the beautiful beach. The cabin made us feel at home and very spacious, clean and private. What a wonderful place to start our new life together. We will have to return for one of our anniversaries.

    • When we walked in the front door all we could say was “WOW!” what a view. The surf was crashing on the rocks right below the deck and the view out the picture windows was fantastic. The first night we spent part of the evening in the hot tub out on the deck enjoying the soak while listening to the ocean. What a relaxing way to put the week behind us! The next morning was just as spectacular, while coffee was brewing we watched the pelicans gliding along the surface of the ocean looking for their breakfast too. Very clean and well furnished throughout! Enjoyed the beach walks and tide pools at low tide. Worst part was having to leave but we plan to be back – thanks for sharing the Ancient Mariner cabin with us!

    • WOW, we so enjoyed staying at the Ancient Mariner cabin. It feels like home away from home, only better because the ocean view is endless. It was truly a relaxing retreat and cozy haven. The ocean is literally in your back door, my husband kept saying you can spit into the ocean from the deck. Isn't that just like a guy to say something like that? We will definitely be back, cuz we think your cabin is the best one of all. Blessings, Mary
