It was our first trip to St. Martin and the Caribbean in general and didn't know what to expect and we were pleasantly surprised. The villa is welcoming to its guests: clean, simply and pleasantly furnished, spacious for a family of four and perhaps 6 if you include the sofa bed in the living area. The view from the balcony is spectacular with coconut trees all around and a pleasant view of the island of St. Barts in the horizon. The villa is equipped with all you need to cook or for a pleasant barbeque in the balcony. And if you are short of anything Mr. K (a local supermarket) is a 2 minute-drive. The freshly baked French bread every morning for breakfast from Mr. K is something you must try. We didn't swim at the Guana bay beach as we were discovering a different beach every day. All beaches are within a 20 ~ 30 minutes-drive (you will definitely need a car rental) from the villa. Our favorites were Grand Case and Orient Bay. Also a day trip to Anguilla from Marigot is a must. So, all in all, I believe you will not be disappointed with your stay at the Guana Bay villa and St. Martin.

Great place, great location in our opinion. Having your own barbecue on the balcony is a plus. Off the beaten track, so nice and quiet retreat from the high traffic tourist areas on the island. Nothing nicer than sitting on the balcony patio in the morning enjoying a coffee and the view. Owner very helpful and ready to answer any questions. A rental car is a must for this location. I would recommend this place to anyone.

My fiance and I stayed at this gorgeous place in mid-November just before our wedding. The villa and the property was exquisite, but unfortunately there were a few rainy days so we did not get a chance to explore all of our surroundings - which included the mountains and some of the trails that the locals raved about. This house was sufficient in size, well enough to even accommodate a few friends if needed! The owner and the onsite manager provided us with helpful tips regarding sightseeing and activities. The price was quite reasonable considering the location of the villa and the size of the villa itself. Definitely a place to visit and to consider when looking for something affordable in St.Maarten!

My husband and I spent four fantastic weeks in St. Martin, and this cottage was a wonderful part of the trip. The place is exactly as pictured and as decribed by the owner, Irina. This was our first time booking through VRBO.com; and if all our future bookings turn out to be as accurate, we will be overjoyed! We had visitors from home part of the time, and the extra sleeping space was very comfortable. Mornings started with coffee out on the deck overlooking the ocean; and on those evenings when we decided to eat in, everything for doing so was available, including a grill out on the deck. So handy!! The on-site manager was helpful in answering questions...but most of our questions were answered by the owner by email before we even arrived. She gave us maps and tips on where to buy groceries, rent a car, etc. The beach is quite private--even saw two small weddings during the last two weeks. Although information on the Internet indicated this is one of the rougher beaches on the island in terms of waves, we did quite a bit of swimming there and loved it. If we wanted a busier beach with chairs/umbrellas, food and activity, we could easily drive to a number of other beautiful beaches. The cottage is located in a quiet area where there is little activity, so guests really need to rent a car if they want to be active; but the quiet was exactly what we were looking for as a home base. (It's probably not the place you want to stay if you have young children/teenagers who want to have lots of activities to participate in.) St. Martin is such a small island that it is easy to get to lots of beautiful beaches, great shopping and restaurants, grocery stores, etc. We would definitely recommend this rental property...and plan to return to St. Martin again and will stay in the same unit if at all possible.
