Accommodations: House, 7 Bedrooms, 4 Baths (Sleeps 0)
If you want an extraordinary mountain home in Estes Park that is perfect for families and has tons of room (not to mention absolutely stunning views)... look no further. Summer 2010 is almost booked solid but late fall and winter/spring dates are open... so inquire now!
OVERALL HOME: With over 6600sqft in living space, this log style two story home is one of the largest and nicest rental homes in all of Colorado. It is situated on over one acre natural lot with trees, rock outcroppings, and abundant wildlife. It is on a paved street and has a large paved circular driveway. Without the optional master suite, it features 6 bedrooms, 3 baths, 3 living/sitting areas, 2 fireplaces, a game room, over 2400 sqft in decks, and yes… even a one-of-a-kind indoor basketball court!!!
THE VIEWS: The house is situated right at the base of the continental divide and is surrounded by panoramic views of Twin Sister's (13,000'+), Long's Peak (14'000'+), and the continental divide itself. Most of the view is of Rocky Mountain National Park peaks.
THE BEDDING SET-UP: Yes... six bedrooms! Everyone could possibly have their own if you used the den and added the master suite (usually not included for non-peak rentals but can be). And they are all very nice size...all larger than the average bedroom and all with larger than average closets. The bedrooms feature the following bedding set-ups all with themed décor that match native animals in the park including elk, bear, bear cub, mountain lion, trout, and moose.
THE MAIN LIVING AREA: The huge professional kitchen features granite counters, maple wood cabinets, double oven, professional series separate refrigerator and freezer, desk with computer, and a unique outdoor kitchen (10’ by 10’ upper deck with built-in 8ft stainless steel grill – just outside the main kitchen through glass French doors). The main living room features lots of open space with comfortable furniture, a billiards area, a nostalgic winter sports décor, and a hi-def 50” TV/fireplace/200+ DVD library all built into a dramatic slate wall.
SPECIAL FEATURES: The over 2400 sqft+ in decks (three upper and two lower connected with a wood bridge) feature an outdoor ping pong table, a large hot tub, wood/log furniture including gliders and swings, 2 picnic tables, and a propane gas fire-pit. Also outside is a very nice horseshoe court, 1800's rustic trail wagon, and a retired 6 person ski gondola. Other features include a 2.5 story atrium with bear water fountain, a 2nd living room with fireplace, 4 bathrooms, and a two car garage.
INCREDIBLE MASTER SUITE: The two-and-a-half story 1000sqft master suite is usually included for peak season rentals but not usually for non-peak rentals (but sometimes can be). It features the master bedroom (with king bed, built in 42" LCD TV and DVD, desk, wood stove, sitting area, and 2.5 story ceiling), a deluxe wet bar (with granite counter, double sink, small fridge, and maple cabinets), an amazing master bathroom (with huge garden tub and large extended tiled area with 4 shower heads), and a private deck (with log swing).
THE WILDLIFE: And despite the excellent all around qualities of the home, the best feature may just be the wildlife. Sited on the property have been coyotes, foxes, marmots, ground squirrels, black bears, and literally hundreds of birds and mule deer. And of course too numerous to mention... the herds of elk. As a matter of fact, over 50 elk were counted on the property at one time.

Map & Owner's Profile
Incredible 6600sqft Log Style Home - Stunning Views & Features
Year Purchased: 2005
Why the Owner Chose Estes Park
In the summer of 2004, I hiked and camped in the back country of Rocky Mountain National Park for several days (my first time in estes park). On the last day while looking down over the estes valley, i decided that whatever it took i had to find a way to spend my life out here. One year later purchased a home that overlooks the visitor center area that we had actually checked in for our trip the year before.
The Unique Benefits at this House
Simply one of the best locations in one of the most beautiful mountain towns in the country. The home is located between the downtown of estes park and the main entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The setting is natural and park-like itself with abundant wildlife passing through year around. And even with limitless outdoor activities in the area there are also extensive activities in the house itself including: indoor basketball, game room, hot tub, ping pong, billiards, and over 2000sqft in decks with views that are just plain stunning!
The main entrance to the fifth most visited national park in the country!
The main eastern visitor center and park headquarters for Rocky Mountain National Park.
The other Rocky Mountain National Park eastern entrance and visitor center.
Highest continuously paved highway in the US climbing up and over the continental divide at over 12,000ft.
Charming mountain downtown with shops and restaurants. Excellent river walk featuring the joining of two rivers right in town.
Recently built visitor center featuring information on both Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park. Also is one of the main stops of the summer "shopper" and "hiker" shuttles.
Famous turn of-of-the-century hotel made even a bit more famous recently by Stephen King's "The Shining"
Owner's Map of Estes Park
I grew up in Florida but have always been much more of a mountain person... and have always loved everything about the old west. So after years of spending most of my vacations skiing at various western ski resorts... i actually visited Colorado in the summer. That was when I knew i had to move out there. And now I am fortunate enough to have a home in one of the most scenic locations not only in Colorado... but in the entire country!

We gathered for the Franklin family reunion from Iowa, Kentucky, Indiana, Colorado, and Wisconsin. The view was spectacular, the lodge was beautifully decorated, the games and hot tub were relaxing and fun. All that stayed here were impressed with the variety! We all hate to leave!

Thanks for sharing your spectacular house! The views are amazing, just wish the weather was a little better. Oh well, we love being in Estes Park no matter. A little excitement on Thursday morning when the black bear paid our trash a visit. Couldn't scare him off soon enough to save all of the trash. At least he didn't drag it up into the mountain. Got some good video of Andy chasing it off with his car. The hot tub was great after our hikes. The boys enjoyed the game room too. Thanks again!
